Colonel Martha -- Sally.

The first woman to fly fighter jets in combat for the US air force now running to fill -- -- Giffords vacated congressional seat.

And the colonel joins us from 2 -- good morning -- you.

Good morning it's an honor to have the first American woman to fly in combat congratulations and thank you.

Thank you sir all right what do you want it what do you -- you've got you've had such a great career what do you wanna go to congress.

Well and the public servant and -- Steve and it see things that are messed up -- them.

And right now -- -- overseas -- and senior government officials from all over the world.

Helping them transition to democracy.

And see what -- economic problems are and realizing that what we got some messed up things going on -- home.

Still very convicted to come home and help our own government and lead them and represent the people in his district in a very critical time.

Which -- one number one focus I mean.

You're talking about things screwed up the Washington that's an understatement what's the number one thing healing effects.

-- we absolutely need leadership in Washington we need someone is gonna stand up for what's right and -- record of doing that whether it was filing a lawsuit against the Pentagon over -- aware of the Muslim garb in Saudi Arabia.

-- taken my -- -- in the combat we have got to get our debt under control.

We have got to stop the intrusion that's coming from the east and the federal government.

And we have got to address the very serious NASA security issues on our border that are affecting this region them.

Let me ask you about this something in the news over the last couple weeks -- -- about easing the restrictions on putting women in combat up closer.

To the front line although -- you know they've they've been there obviously you're a great point.

I want to listen to what Rick Santorum has said regarding this recently.

-- I think that -- -- a a very compromising situation where.

Where people naturally.

In the it may do things that may not be in the interest of the mission because of other types of emotions that are involved and I think that's probably not of the messages -- -- men women or the mission.

-- critical of it what what's your comment about what the senator said.

You know I agree with many of the things that Rick Santorum says.

You know but what I heard this -- really just wanted to get a kick him in the Jimmy.

-- in the Jimmy.

Yet he's totally out of touch I mean.

It's completely out of touch these are the types of arguments we heard 20/20 five years ago.

As to why women going to be fighter pilots and it it's an insult to the men and women of course serving overseas putting their lives on the line and focusing on a mission right now.

As a Republican if he's the nominee then -- how do you feel about supporting him.

Well I look forward to talking to him he's going to be here next week and so maybe we can discuss.

A lot of further bring up the steam.

I don't think I would mention to Jimmy part two of them.

Yeah I guess not.

Are right before we go just one other.

You know.

-- talk show you talked about how leadership is one of the things that is failing in Washington DC and what makes you uniquely.

Qualified to bring some leadership.

Representing that particular congressional district.

Sure -- -- serve my country for 27 and a half years.

Again I've commanded in combat I've worked on Capitol Hill for senator Kyl for a year.

And I personally shepherded legislation through congress to overturn the military's policy make in our women -- the Muslim garb.

So we need leadership right now we need someone is gonna stand up for what's right.

Have the moral courage to do the right thing is they're just going along to get along and I bring that leadership and that moral courage and experience.

Right colonel.

-- -- -- We think you've made -- I just -- throw one more thing in there before we got yet hey this is national important race.

I need your help please go to make -- for congress dot com and -- a big donate button we got to win this thing all right.

Colonel thank you very much your your service and being with us here on FOX & Friends will.
