The airlines -- -- doing a better job such treating customers in some respects according to bring you surveyed -- out.
But it -- we're still not all that impressed.
Airlines for America is a trade group it reports the number of lost bags hit a record low last year.
99 point 7% of passengers got their luggage -- absolutely no problems.
What's more the airlines -- only five for so well I should say -- 5% fewer passengers from their flights over that same time period.
Of course the Bureau of Transportation Statistics report the customer complaints still went off by about 5% compared to 2010.
With knows travel expert Rick CD he's the founder of the airline tickets search website fare compare dot com yeah I wonder how much -- of this is really about.
This technology that's been in place for awhile and the fact that so many people been pushed out of the airports.
Well I think you have a couple things first I gotta give airlines some credit -- the numbers are better than they have been but we saw a couple things happened last summer they doubled.
The compensation rate for people they got bumped off -- and I've certainly had airlines thinking twice about overbooking their flights that certainly helped things a bit.
And then with checked bag fees most bags really to be honest -- in.
In the cabin of the airplane nobilo the holds though if you go back to like 20062007.
Down on the bottom.
Basement of the airport it looked a little bit more like Lucille Ball the chocolate factory for five years ago there's not as many bags down there.
And you know about that same time didn't -- that new technology I don't know if you've noticed but when you go to the airport now and you check a bag.
They take this little bar code and they stick it on the side here back at and that that really has been a help overtime what's -- figured and I use it.
Absolutely they're -- the page out of UPS and FedEx -- book they're gonna track your bag all the way through.
Some sites even let you see where it is with an airport in some airport so.
Obviously this is something that's gonna help.
Airlines wanna charges more for ticket prices and if they wanna do that they're gonna have to do a lot better on the two things that we really love which is a take off and land on time.
And -- have our bags that are when we do you check them when we arrived.
If it it feels like they've really started more full Louisiana -- I think even said this.
Focusing more on their core business that all the perks.
Yeah absolutely there are no frills anymore sort of funny to watch airlines.
They used to be called the no -- airlines now -- the thrill airlines because they have free checked bags for example so.
I think all airlines and United States are low cost airlines now with American Airlines gonna come out of bankruptcy sometime in the next year so.
I think all of them have reduce there.
Costs and they're all -- acting more like low cost airlines but they need to raise ticket prices with this high fuel thing to do that consumers still are pushing back and let's get the service they want -- sure enough for seeing you live with a strict and see again thank you.
-- you -- all right well meet.
