Hi everyone I'm Gretchen Carlson time for your fox -- today last summer this video staff sergeant and gene Johnson and the military -- and sidewinder became a YouTube hit garnered national attention well now.

Sergeant Johnson is one step closer to achieving her music streams after joining -- TV -- competition known as the voice.

She joined us on FOX & Friends today to talk about it.

-- -- -- Good morning T you know how -- you know I'm doing fantastic add to say we love it when you're on fox and friends with sidewinder you guys did such a fantastic job we all felt like they all have careers in music and -- just happened -- flipping through the TV and bury you you're on them boy -- how that happened.

It's a really it's a really crazy story.

When we were deployed.

We did a little game you know when and the video went viral from that AJ and Carson Daly got a hold of it.

And -- about it and went on a manhunt looking for the singer from the viral video and -- you personally invited me to come audition for the voice so that's how that happened.

That is fantastic you know usually you you join the military you wind up getting sent -- a faraway places not Hollywood and executing getting this particular.

Operation probably singing anthems but instead you're doing -- -- -- and where where do things stand right now in the competition on the voice with you.

Well right now deadline additions are still airing and after the blind auditions and all finished airing that's of the battlegrounds and down the battleground is basically where.

You get paired up with someone on your teen to sing a duet and your coach picks who they think is the best you can understand myself.

Do I know who I'm -- yet.

I might know if I told gigantic -- OK I -- I'm fine she knows how to shoot it -- for sure.

Well yeah let me ask you this -- to say that the military background that you have has helped you in this competition how.

Absolutely 100%.

It's just it's taken a lot of discipline and there have been a lot of long days.

And it's it's -- I'm used to 1418 hour days anyway so it's just kind of you know given me practice -- -- not around but.

Just all the discipline and and time and just being able to do we are told students.

That's great.

Plus I'd imagine you have the support of many members of the military who -- in on that show Leo yep she's one of us.

I think that I truly have been the best fans in the entire world and the people have come together.

From all over the world with service members that are ends families of veterans and it's just been so heartwarming for me because.

They really let me know that they follow the journey and that they support me.
