We've talked -- congressman thanks very much for being here your take on the results tonight now that we know that -- 8 PM Fox News are calling you're state of Michigan for Mitt Romney is well.

-- -- -- Or were very happy I believe it is electability.

Based largely on his appeal on economic issues which as you know -- the most important issues facing the country today.

So to me it's a very good moment and I'm curious to see.

Because you know winning in politics you can win lose at the same time but I think you'll governor Romney's done in Arizona what he's done -- Michigan shows that in the first attempt to get delegates and -- -- -- the non -- states but senator Santorum.

-- governor -- will get momentum heading in to Super Tuesday and finally my question is to see.

Whether or not in the final analysis I think Karl Rove said it could be a six point spread or not.

Between the -- in between Mitt.

I wanna see what the difference is when you add in the percentage -- speaker Gingrich -- because I really like to see that Mitt can beat the combined strength Santorum.

And Gingrich or at least come close to doing it should start to put to bed there.

The contention.

That if one of the two other candidates drops out that Pastrana -- in trouble because -- -- would that be the case.

Congress and looked at -- the dichotomy.

The Republican primary voters and and not even only Republican because of the open.

Primary policy in your state but the primary -- voters going to the polls today.

At the same time that the president was also in your home state today.

You know and there's been so much discussion about the Republican candidates and their positions.

On the auto bailout.

And the economy how do you think that message works I know that you were on MSNBC earlier this morning talking to.

Chuck Todd about that saying that it could be a real concern for Republicans.

In a general election that the president and his team have played this very well when it comes to.

Winning over those blue collar voters those all important voters in the state of Michigan.

It is I think you're actually right now I heard.

Mr.

Wallace.

The network I believe talked about how they -- -- mr.

-- they did not necessarily think.

The auto industry.

Played a factor of a primary I would agree with that.

Because all four contenders for the Republican nomination at the same position on it it is a vastly different proposition when you head into.

November against President Obama.

Of course Democrats would like to forget that it was President Bush the first authorized taking money out of the Wall Street bailout and using it instead for main street.

But they've been very skillful and that's they've been working this manufacturing angle for quite some time the president knows it's his Achilles heel he knows the job losses and the economy.

Are very problematical -- And so the Republican Party continues to look backwards as to what did or did not happen with the auto industry accidentally forward as to what -- -- -- to get job creation going in the United States for manufacturing -- for cross.

All segments of our economy we're in a very difficult time.

This is definitely here by the way I followed you on Twitter -- for your -- hand up for our viewers you very entertaining.

Twitter feed a nicer when you know is that his nomination was a good handle on the -- it's just and right that it's -- -- -- -- Cotter.

No congressman and that the world will -- Freddie as congressman caught or not back on the I guys I guess that is the nickname.

Mr.

congressman sit here's a question that -- headed plays into what you were just talking about about Republican Party looking forward and sending we've talked a lot about tonight.

Is what is the narrative.

The Republican Party what really resonates with the American people have they created.

Something that really.

Strikes a chord with the public -- independent or Republican voters and Ben wants to know.

What do we need to do right now let's unite Republicans and just speaking from your vantage point on the hell knew what he thinks he is that.

Well first Jenna thank you for the plug -- my Twitter here.

Can't wait and see what pops up there now.

Correct and -- at but it.

-- -- in terms of the Republican Party we have to remember that in 2008 the Democrats went through -- very bitter primary.

And they were discussing as internists and warfare tends to lead us to do.

Some of the minutiae in the weeds of Democratic Party policy the Republicans are now doing the same thing.

What will happen is eventually when the nominee starts to get settled the broader vision for the country the broader appeal.

Of the challenges we face in the Republican approach is -- limited government individual empowerment for entrepreneurial.

Initiative for the -- for century.

Will start to come to the -- but right now you got to remember as you guys know about anybody actually.

You have people fighting for Republican Party votes with in the Republican Party within segments of the Republican Party and that's not going to be conducive to -- for a larger vision for where the country needs to go.

I think that once we get on that -- it.

They compare where the U Republicans wanna go on how we match our policies of the times in which we live here in the 21 century the past four years of mr.

Obama's record will be found wanting.

The times and wouldn't you say that this has been among the most negative campaigns that you've ever seen.

And it really isn't healthy for democracy.

Whether it be Democrats or Republicans are engaging in these kind of disbursement.

Of people's characters -- so presumably at least party agrees what.

Well although part of me is as I I -- -- -- -- -- campaigns I've been in.

I I don't know why it played brilliantly candidate for president and I totally awful acquitted yourself well how disappointed you didn't acknowledge -- -- -- -- just in general look.

-- democracy can be -- were constitutional republic with democracy.

I mean you still have people running around mad about the slurs that were put on Jefferson back in the day so when you look at the country -- people -- so.

No but we can go back and we can look at some of the things were said about Ronald Reagan when John and I was as excited as they make -- -- saying it.

Can't just -- bit -- a Democrat does it that a Republican.

Does it -- should be honest about it.

I'm very honest about it and I'm honest about the fact that the government official I will -- to defend your right to free speech I legitimate political process.

Just way to tell you what to say or not -- and I do it to me on Twitter.

Congress does have a fellow I'd take that day as a fellow Republican let me ask this question what about the eleventh commandment from 1980 that Ronald Reagan.

Really put forth and and has been had been followed on -- that thou shalt not speak ill of our fellow Republicans.

All we've seen of these candidates is total trashing each other.

Few years of marketing you have like me and I'm smiling because that's not that -- Ronald Reagan did it come over that eleventh commandment of -- -- against incumbent Republican Gerald Ford in 1976.

I and I felt like everything he did on the exact -- forty was very it was a nasty look and -- non BC what you want is some apologized idealized world where you more subjective views as to what's negative.

Become when one person who's been through reality I'm -- Process fit the Eisenhower Clinton plus help public and let the public sort out what they want to hear what they think is factual somebody goes over the line.

They'll make that determination in the ballot box not the pundits soap box and -- our politicians -- not all -- Our voters our fellow Republican voters are staying home in record numbers in this primary when they ought to be.

Coming out for -- at the mouth to get at Obama and instead there's thing.

I think it'll come out and get -- Obama that sounds a bit negative it's not content up as you know I know I get Obama let me get in here I was asked my subjective view if it.

Let me just an vineyard because it is an interesting point that John brings up about.

You know what we saw energy wise and when he tendon where we are right now -- -- you know regardless -- candidates are what's at stake here is a different energy.

And I'm just curious you magic had -- repeat the mistakes that Republicans are making.

That you -- the Democratic Party and we did Tennessee Groundhog Day in politics on Capitol Hill and they want why is that why what's here.

In your reasoning as as to why that's happening.

Well as -- why -- put the Republican base is going to very divisive primary grant you that.

But at the end of the day the differences between ourselves are miniscule compare the differences between ourselves and President Obama and especially the progressive leftist.

Regressive wing of the Democratic Party.

So once you get to that situation you stop the intramural and you get to the final game.

What's going to happen is Republicans are gonna unite we're going to try to move America forward advance a positive vision I think our nominee whoever -- well I hope it's mr.

Romney as a supporter.

And you'll then taking and he will then -- in the spectacle of the two parties with vastly different views of where the Packers ago which I think is very helpful.

Right now because the American people know it's a transformational time they're taking their time with the Republicans to make sure they make the right choice so do the same in November.

-- filter out what the messaging is negative positive.

And I believe in the end they're going to get it right and the next election is going to determine the course of the country for the next morning 34.

-- and you don't think that the process of these primaries the -- and the debates in the way they've trashed each other in the super pacs and negative ads.

Is gonna hitting her art nominate whoever it is whether it be Romney or not.

He won't go into the general so damage that he might not be able to one.

-- that I go back to 1980 John Anderson ran a third party campaigning as the man everybody thought was to right -- to ever get.

Elected president of United States Ronald -- a lot of doing okay.

Congressman because thank you so much -- but -- is there.
