-- -- -- get about Tennessee we feel great about Oklahoma.
We're going to be spent a lot of time in Ohio that's gonna be a battleground state but again we feel good about it there we think our message.
Which as you know about.
Guy from the steel town in Western Pennsylvania is gonna play very very well across the state of Ohio.
So Georgia really does matter in the campaign he will be doing for the next few days really does matter.
It was good recently.
To be in Oklahoma and Tennessee.
Was good to be in Ohio and we'll be back in Ohio -- sun Saturday.
We will be back in tennis scene on Sunday and then on Monday.
We'll continue to campaign right up to the voting on Tuesday.
Well it was a big night last night for me I was very plays very good news Arizona and that.
At Michigan right next door and interestingly the people who said that the economy and jobs where they're number one issue they voted for me overwhelmingly.
And that's one of the reasons I'm running.
That was this snapshot of the contenders Republican contenders on Super Tuesday.
Just around the corner now.
And Rick Santorum.
And Mitt Romney focusing on Ohio.
Newt Gingrich working at southern strategy a -- with the state that he represented for so long the congress Georgia.
So what's gonna happen on Super Tuesday is it is it going to decide this race is going to roil this race.
Who knows well I know some people might now you Betty ladies and Doug and I are still with us blue team red team my my esteemed friends and colleagues.
But you know who knows an awful lot about this stuff is Tom -- of real clear politics.
Who -- out in our Chicago bureau.
Tom welcome to the big show.
Chris -- to -- with you thanks for having me.
Well we'll see if you feel that way after a couple of minutes a lot that's changed their mind on that count but.
So that's the question Tom is.
When we look let's take a look now Internet at the map of states that are voting on Super Tuesday -- this wide -- basically from.
The Georgia primary all the way up to the Alaska -- guy.
There at that will be coming in at midnight eastern time as we look at at this.
Tell us -- first.
What matters most.
And is this going to be a decisive night in the Republican nominating process.
Well let's let's take the last part first I don't think.
That Super Tuesday is gonna be as super as it has been in the past I think we we do have.
A variety of candidates as you mentioned in the open and Gingrich is planning his flagged -- North Carolina santorum's gonna be working Ohio pretty hard.
And and there are enough states that we could end up and and the waited for the delegates are are being allocated this -- proportionally.
You know I I think Super -- is just gonna.
-- this race even further and I think we're looking at something that's gonna last you know perhaps even into you.
Into June when Texas and California finally come on line so as far as what matters but on Tuesday.
Everybody's placing a lot of emphasis on Ohio for obvious reasons a swing state in in the general election.
It's a place where Santorum is currently ahead in the polls were waiting for new data now after Michigan.
To see if -- he's gonna get any sort of bump and be able it.
Close the margin there.
And that's that's another chance for Santorum to the Dead -- if he's -- -- still relevant and can reassert himself.
And -- big victory there if Romney wins Ohio I think I think that's very good news for him -- continues to.
I think put him in a position -- to close -- the nomination eventually.
So I I think Ohio is is clearly that the big one.
On Tuesday's episode -- is -- -- Ohio is Ohio and Michigan we had a state where Mitt Romney needed to win.
But -- -- could have been very helpful for Rick Santorum we go to Ohio.
Is this a need to win for Santorum.
I think it is and I think it's if he wants to stay relevant in the process.
And continue to have money coming in continue to have.
Headlines be written about him as as a viable alternative.
Yeah I think it is probably must win for him and I think that's what he's going to be spending an awful lot of time and money there.
You know over the next six days so I think it is a must win for for Santorum now.
And do -- what in terms of the polls because of course.
Everybody who watches fox in on cable or here -- -- Internet.
Know that we we cite your site at least a one million times per day as we say the real clear politics average of polls.
Both really is very much by the way which we appreciate stealing your stuff very much by the way but -- on the question of what -- because we have such a small period of time to talk about pulling for second with such a small period of time.
In which -- can be done.
In a bunch of states.
Are do we stand a good chance of seeing some strong trend lines in -- and reliable averages between now and Tuesday.
I think so I mean we've been excuse me we've got some decent relevant polling.
Out of Georgia we've got some in Ohio we will get more unquestionably.
In this two states over the next week we've also got a couple polls.
On the verge of getting some new data in in places like Tennessee.
So I look I think the polling.
By and large the polling has been.
Pretty decent this cycle and if you look at the record -- averages in a lot of these early states including Michigan and Arizona from just last Tuesday.
The the polling even -- primaries are -- -- traditionally much harder to pull in general election the -- -- -- pretty good so.
And I think we do you have enough data at least in the two big states that -- mentioned and will be having.
Will be getting some more data we party talked a couple pollsters we know they'll be coming out polls in the next few days in places like Tennessee Oklahoma.
And some others I think we will have a good sense of sort of where the trend lines are headed as we as we run in the Super Tuesday.
Internet consider yourself to analyze.
Combat and we thank you for making time for us -- in Chicago have a great day.
You -- thanks.
Okay distinguished panel.
The question for you guys we saw in Ohio.
Sort of a microcosm.
Of the Republican race yesterday all packed into about four hours.
Mitt Romney was being interviewed.
By some dude and -- says.
Do you favor legislation that would allow employers to band.
Contraceptives for women and probably immediately switched into full.
Romney -- mode no boom moving on to talking points and is down the path.
Within two hours ago you -- oppose the -- amendment so that Romney has to try to do make good and then the Santorum team bounces on it and as ever today in the power play which you.
Get foxnews.com -- -- politics or just like follow me on Twitter.
And it's simple volition -- act.
Act of following just quick follow -- Internet it's so easy it's so easy.
Follow me on Twitter upstart from -- -- -- cries for re imagined she was little shameless yeah.
This shameless that this team that's what shameless self promotion and that's different god god -- believe the question for were you guys is.
You see in all of this the Republicans basically wasted day and they're -- -- swing state they're gonna spend more millions.
-- in each other.
In swing state Ohio.
With a lot of independent voters watching.
As we see how this process goes forward.
Penny I suspect I know what you think I'm gonna start with Doug how much damage is is this back and we're doing that they're talking about birth control in Ohio and giving Barack Obama a free chance to go up to New Hampshire today and talk about -- Prices north because I think -- a problem quietly -- the Republican candidates need to talk about the economy jobs gas prices which affects the economy and jobs.
And spending and debt and deficits.
And when they're not they're -- message whether it's birth control which is still amazing that it's a topic in this presidential race for.
Women in combat which became an issue -- couple weeks ago when they're not talking about the number 12 issues in this country.
The -- message but I also say.
I think this longer process.
It's not an accident we kind of forget this week we see so much talk about you know you get it to yourself yes absolutely our planet -- -- -- -- Yeah we're strongest community yeah.
This wasn't planned thing it's alive complaints about it long drawn out process.
I go back and remember that day in August of 2010 we decided we're going to be longer more drawn out process for the -- extremely strong.
I feel like a good idea -- -- is seen yeah -- -- a look at let it seemed like a good thing easy Khamenei it was.
-- maybe they were able -- between he and Hillary were able to.
-- a lot of momentum and register record amounts of people that actually were.
Great for them to really help them in and there was -- and there was no and there was no incumbent and there was -- yes so anything.
In -- making this is great but any -- fortunately everything every contest that you have every debate that you have -- Negatives of both Rick Santorum and you -- and an -- that it.
Are -- going up it is not helping him right now as they continue down they're continuing to isolate their bases and not being able to appeal to the larger independent so.
Many of these victories I was there whole victories right now and are kind of clean -- perilous place -- into the general.
Election I telling them what isn't quite Texas marks the first president you know we we talk about how this is going on -- -- -- It's march through this you know the best alternative jet that's true it's march because -- -- -- -- yet there's always spring training beginning there's so move.
Long to go before.
We get Susan okay -- -- Internet.
-- -- -- -- Any minds of many months of this yet to come I wanna share some of your own thoughts with view Internet access that you are so wise.
Heather snow says new Rasmussen polls have Romney over 50% for the first time.
Republicans are beginning to get together and focus on beating Obama or at least that's what -- empty -- that's what team Romney certainly helps.
All for jury that I am curious agreed to a state by state breakdown and if we -- get the poll numbers.
From state by state Chris yeah issue king.
Yes in fact you can and I want to now continue my kids -- so let -- I'll tell you that if you liked what we did before.
Tuesday's vote in Michigan.
And Arizona when I went snuck into the big board we're gonna have something like that for you before Super Tuesday I'll give you all the latest polls and all eleven states I'll tell you what's going -- we're gonna have that for you next week.
And obviously we want to continue talk about it but.
I'm gonna hate it I will give you -- cheat sheet for watching that on the show next Tuesday so.
So the last question on this topic and then we will move on I promise.
To talk with prisons fundraising.
But the do -- -- on this topic as.
With the Republicans do this.
Isn't though there's something to be said some work strengthening sort of in -- -- it.
But candidate that four certainly in the case of Rick Santorum the change -- him.
As thick as a politician and -- candidate.
From nine months ago to today is remarkable he is a lot better he got a lot better at doing this he still has some weak spots but he has a lot better.
Romney is still again might -- -- He's gotten better he has become.
More ferocious in some ways but in other ways he's he's found a way to talk about his record.
And his wealth and stuff and whether he can before -- there's something to be said for this sort of the refiners fire Katyusha.
I mean every candidate that I had actually has always benefited a no win -- -- -- win against Bobby Casey he actually have primary it actually made him a better general election candidate so there is something to be said for this.
But the amount of money that they have gone after each other and a fairy.
Personal way I think has really done some severe damage to all of the -- yeah -- -- carpet bombing new interest in Florida -- at least twenty million dollars.
That I don't think there's a very hopeful that.
The money on your part of the -- you know elevated -- -- problem -- -- -- is it still having given the vision for the future they're still only admiring the problem.
And they still having given folks -- do you look at the inspiration -- You -- that's what voters want to hear whether they're Republicans or independents or Democrats that's -- they want to hear from these candidates and it's incumbent on them to talk about this war.
And I think part of the challenge ready to do blame the media strategy both these candidates can't go anywhere.
I'm not -- this.
And -- so you it's not winnable.
Obviously that nobody here here's what we see received.
You know we we see members of the press going -- ask -- about anything but the economy -- and saying these candidates are talking about the economy.
-- -- -- -- -- points and you have to read it reinvented every single.
Amazon there's a reason why people are talking -- I don't think and he's gonna -- and rounding out and I'm just getting this sad.
