Happening right now the controversy continues on the campaign trail over religion.
Some critics are fired up over a new column that appeared in the comedy section of the Huffington Post website mocking Rick santorum's Roman Catholic beliefs.
Referring to Catholics as quote a Jesus eating COLT.

What was this column all about -- Well -- it was just -- one of the number of recent media postings taking aim at various candidates and their religions in this particular -- Larry Doyle who says.
He was raised Catholic but quote managed to escape makes fun of communion rights -- -- connections between the Catholic church and -- -- files.
And an -- -- the article with this line quote.
Need I remind you that only once and our great history has a Roman Catholic been elected president and how tragically it ended.
Seeming to be a reference to the assassination of president John F.
Kennedy junior -- after some backlash.
Do well -- a follow up article saying hey that original -- -- you should understand that he added this quote.
It's traditional at this point for me to half apologize to say that I'm sorry if anybody was offended but I really don't mind if anybody was offended John.
So how are Catholic and frankly other religious leaders reacted.
We'll number of them have joined together they've sent a letter -- Arianna Huffington the publisher of Huffington Post -- Doyle's columns appeared saying.
That original post to be taken down and an apology issued.
Tony Perkins of the family research council signed onto that letter here's what he told us.
To poke fun.

Their religious views -- is unacceptable.
Whether it says some of the Christian faith the Mormon faith the Islamic faith.
I think we need to be civil and our dialogue yes we can point out the differences in those religious beliefs and how they might impact our public policy stances.
That's all legitimate.
Well the letter also said that much the media is now guilty of a brazen double standard and that mockery of certain religions including Islam would never be tolerated that the way attacks on mormonism catholicism and evangelical christianity are.
John you know open season on Christians is always acceptable or so it would -- in the media.
