Our breaking news coverage with Mike Tobin in Henry -- Indiana might.
You know -- it's just hard to look anywhere here in Henry Hill and not see a remarkable scene of destruction from the battered cars to the school buses that were knocked off their -- and you look at the window of that school bus and you can see where it looks like someone hit it would baseball's.
That is the impact from the baseball sized hail.
That was driven by those forceful winds with this tornado I'll show you something else as we look across the parking lot of -- high school here -- Henry bill.
You can see how the cars were marked with spray paint.
That's what the rescue crews have been doing as they checked off these cars and mark that no one is still inside that we have amateur video from peak in Indiana.
Where you can see the funnel cloud forming.
And then taking it shape and slowly reaching down to earth where it did its deadly destruction.
It for a -- cruised across the ground for a short period of time.
Before bouncing back up -- this guy witnesses who were watching that funnel cloud.
Say it was awesome it was terrifying and they couldn't help but watch it -- the final seconds.
That's bad thing.
They have -- had an adolescent candidates Hudson about a for the -- -- -- -- -- -- You talk about all the power outages what here's one example you often see the power the power transformers -- explode.
When the storm comes through here's a transformer that was -- all the way to the ground.
You can see some of the crews right now doing this very important work of trying to restore the infrastructure.
Now out here and Henry -- they did get -- a visit from governor Mitch Daniels he is also went to Marysville this little town.
That has really been wiped right off the map and he said unfortunately.
The Indiana emergency crews have far too much practice in this kind of thing.
Now let me toss to my colleague Jonathan Serrie.
Hi Mike right now we're in the Delano community of make -- county just outside of Chattanooga Tennessee over here you can see all of this destruction behind me what used to be a house lifted off of its foundation yesterday we -- we're -- we spoke with the young man named Christopher Johns last night.
He said that just before the tornado arrived he was out.
On the front porch looking at all the severe weather moving in actually saw a funnel -- cloud drop down from the sky as soon as it.
It touched the ground he ran inside for cover.
Didn't get any further than from the kitchen when his house was literally picked up off the foundation destroyed around him.
He survived relatively unscathed had about bad scrape on his forehead but otherwise unharmed but there were four other family members that he had to help free from the wreckage and get to nearby hospital some of his neighbors were injured here.
As well.
As we pan around here and look at what's going on in the neighborhood you can see utility crews just as the as my -- Tobin was talking about.
Earlier this is a C in the you're seeing all over.
The path of the storm the came through here yesterday.
Restoring the infrastructure restoring electricity many of the residents here will not be able to move back into their home for several months -- the repairs get under way but.
These people wasting no time restoring the utility -- getting the power lines back up so once residents return to this neighborhood.
They'll be able to go back online as quickly as possible.
Police have been doing a very thorough job and making sure that only authorized persons are allowed in this neighborhood last night they say several suspicious people.
Tried to get into this neighborhood but they chased them away the concern is looting they don't want people who have lost -- much to lose.
Even more so police doing -- a good job.
Maintaining order and making sure that only these utility crews and some cases residents are able to come back in.
And assess and repair the damage now we're gonna send it to Omaha.
All right thank you very much -- --
