As a candidate Ron Paul is campaigning an Idaho today.
As a state where he says he thinks he's got a good chance of pulling off a victory Idaho has 32 delegates -- up for grabs in tonight's contest.
But some are asking.
With no wins in any of these primary states as of yet.
Paul is still in this race here is congressman Paul answering that very question over the weekend on face the nation.
If you're in a race to make a point or if you know to promote -- cause the best way to do that is to win.
So by the fact that I won twelve times in congress.
And got the people that district to understand what true liberties of Iowa strict constitutional does -- -- I believe I can win yes do I believe the chances are slim yes I I do.
Presidential candidate Ron Paul joins me now by phone he is in Boise Idaho good morning doctor Paul -- -- -- this -- morning welcome.
Thank you -- to be -- inning he's something very interesting in that interview that we just played a little piece eight you said that you weren't seeking power.
And you believe that that was the problem with you know the other candidates and -- with so many in Washington that they weren't driven.
By a mission as you so clearly are that everybody else is just in it for power is out to believe.
You know -- really do because policies don't change if -- conservatives are honest -- they will realize that even when we have the conservative has been in controlled Washington.
Foreign policy never changes we don't have a more sensible foreign policy on civil liberties.
It -- one party protect our privacy more than others.
Do both parties fully endorse -- the Patriot Act in the invasion of our our houses and abuses of force that amendment they do.
Both parties keep spending money so what do they argued about it is that it's how to divvy up you know their largesse into the -- they're best friends I mean is it.
Are you gonna bailout -- -- going to be Eilat at Goldman Sachs has that sort of thing that goes on that's been going on -- -- time I think I -- that the power struggle.
Much more than a -- -- It -- you have really gained so much traction over the years in your mission to make people care about liberty and to bring up these issues that you.
Obviously feel so very strongly about.
So as you look at this -- -- if there comes a point when you decide that that you -- not gonna win the nomination.
It cool of the other three that are that are out there that are still in this race with you do you feel.
Also has -- has a mission has a belief has a vision for the country that perhaps you could support.
That's a tough question to answer because that the real challenge because.
More or less just dead everybody's -- -- her you know the reason of of of exerting power.
And -- and I have said many times in the campaign philosophically there's not much difference between the -- -- Because.
If you look at it is it's just their strategy and their money and -- special interest.
But they do not have a different policy meat out which one would be more sympathetic to challenging.
That the reserve and how he contributes the business cycle.
I see that is so fundamentally we don't understand the business cycle -- we have been about can you deal with the unemployment.
It's actually impossible.
It means and they talk about the inflation up prices -- completion price as a consequence of the -- the Federal Reserve is now right now we're moving into a period time we're.
Gasoline may go to five dollars and -- everyday to our foreign policy there's threats of a bigger toward the Middle East.
We ignore that in pretend that oh what we're going to do is deregulate a little bit and we're gonna get gasoline down to two dollars and I mean that's that's dreaming and that's about all the others.
Are offering so I don't see any one candidate did that jumped I think that's the case.
Do I mean we're still at a point where we're pursuing.
You know the hunt for delegates and quite frankly I don't see.
Where in the near future 81 candidates going to be guaranteed winner of this primary I think it's gonna go on prolong.
Is so -- if it goes on for awhile and if you do get to that point where you feel like securing the GOP nomination is untenable.
What would your next move -- you know how would you continue this mission that has clearly built momentum and got a lot of attention through this.
Well yeah and I guess will decide that right now I have to concentrate on.
Super Tuesday and continue to do my work and hospital here in North Dakota do our very bad.
But most people give me credit you know even last night we -- at a rally and so make them.
-- -- affecting had a public that and I heard him speak thirty years ago saying the same things.
They say -- then I'm going to continue to do it.
That the better we do it the more potentially -- we've never had this much attention -- you know -- and it's not.
Strictly about me because I'm not looking you know for any power at all but I do want to have imposed on the future of the country.
So in that case this momentum like you have mentioned is really both building I mean it's.
It is always a challenge to meet -- -- the disconnect because.
I think if this person if people did a statistical analysis I think we get the largest crowd -- that we can go to university report about the people out.
But you know we gotta go and I do thank you so much for your time out of your busy today but before -- let you -- real quickly would you ever consider.
Pursuing and they have said now but but an independent candidacy.
And the Israelis have I still didn't I don't have any plans to do that I continue to up continue with my independent spirit but I don't have any clear and to that I am still looking to delegates.
-- kind of some pop.
By the luck to you and everybody tonight thank you very much for being -- -- Connecticut -- with the --
