You know.

This -- amazing.

I hope they analysts.

In Washington and New York.

Who spent June and July explaining our campaign was dead.

We'll watch this tonight and learn a little bit.

From this crowd.

And of this -- -- survive.

The national league's effort to kill us in the summer.

Because -- you because people -- We are not.

Going to allow all the elite to decide who we are allowed to nominate.

And so with your.

-- Thousands and thousands of people came to -- dot -- And -- your help.

We survived the two most difficult months.

Of a career which goes back to August of 1958.

In June and July were really hard it was precisely because.

The National League especially in the Republican Party had decided that it Gingrich presidency was so frightening.

That they had to kill literally.

You know you wouldn't let them do it.

And.

So.

-- -- -- And the power of large solutions.

And big ideas.

And clear communications in the debates.

By December.

According to Gallup I was the front runner by fifteen points and according to Rasmussen I was a -- but 21 points because you believed.

In the power of ideas you believe.

That people can make a difference.

That in fact Wall Street money can be beaten by -- main street work.

Okay.

And -- -- at that point Wall Street money decided.

That only a relentlessly negative five million dollar campaign in Iowa would work.

And they did reduce my support from thirty cents to 14%.

And three weeks of what running neck and and once again the media said -- I guess this is over fine.

But you also.

And -- And at the very depths of the establishment.

Rejecting it.

Thousands of more people candidate dot -- -- And the result was like South Carolina.

We won a historic victory carried 43 out of 46 counties.

And I'm pretty sure that tonight.

We have a number of the south Carolinians who helped us win who -- here who came over to help celebrate the straight victories.

Okay.

And at that point.

The forces of Wall Street figured out they were in real trouble.

And as the New York Times reported later they held a meeting on Sunday morning after Saturday night.

Primary and they said we have to destroy -- One of them was even quoted -- -- -- this -- we have to eviscerate him.

Which I thought was fairly strong -- Republican primary.

I would expect Obama's people to do that but I thought -- -- -- much having spent my entire career building Republican Party.

And celibate piled on twenty million dollars in its release of negativity in Florida and we ourselves and we carried all of north Florida.

An interest in the everywhere we -- When we won the -- wanna.

On Wall Street won the vote went down.

Which I think it's pretty bad sign for this fall if we end over the Wall Street -- At that point.

Once again they began to say well maybe he's going.

And then frankly senator Santorum it's -- -- -- clever.

He went to three states nobody else was and anyone.

In the news media once again desperate to prove Gingrich has gone suddenly -- now we have the person who's going to Vietnam Romney.

Now plus -- I -- to each other.

Jackie and Jermaine -- involved but.

To debate coaches -- -- -- -- Okay.

Could -- her performance they get out of me the most underpaid debate coaches and.

Although they'll play talking about that later on issues.

But in any event we looked at each other -- you know.

Remember when it was Timbaland it was gonna crowd now.

And remember than what it was Michelle Bachmann.

And then it was a good friend Herman Cain the first time and then appropriate moment it was Donald Trump almost.

And then it was a different repairing.

An analyst Herman Cain the second time.

And now it's Santorum.

And you just can't quite get across so it's all right there -- lots of money reverence that runs through on the tortoise I just take one step.

Okay.

I've always try to be very candid sometimes gets in trouble but on balance I think it's I wanna live -- now -- wanna do it.

And so I said -- I said.

At the very -- you know that santorum's urgent all this stuff.

Yes I can't carry my home state where people know me.

I would have no credibility.

And I knew the basic Wall Street technique which was to commencement Watson how many you've noticed negatives.

-- and have you noticed -- that Reagan negative -- that is a total lie.

I mean that's that's what we're applicants.

It's one thing they have lots of money is the line with the money.

And so I don't drive I you know that's -- -- let's test.

Alcohol.

-- -- I crisscross the state.

-- and Jackie were great I actually governor deal did a tremendous job fair.

Okay.

McCain stepped up to the the -- and work very very hard.

Okay.

Todd Palin.

Make phone calls that really helped communicate that there was a candidate who ought to be helped.

The fact is in Tennessee Fred Thompson was just tremendously helpful and in Oklahoma JC watts is extraordinary.

Okay.

And so we basically put people -- are up against money power.

And as you saw the very first race they call tonight about fifteen seconds after the polls close.

That's so I'm here first of all to say thank you.

To each and every one of you because you are the reason we survived every effort of the establishment to stops.

Okay.

Now.

Being here at the Waverly.

Brings back many memories.

And 1994.

This is where we learn.

That's for the first time in forty years there would be a Republican speaker of the house.

And I.

And you know for that entire campaign.

All of Phillies thought we were crazy.

First of all we ran a positive campaign we had a contract with America.

They just thought that was weird why why would you go to all that trouble.

Have all these ideas and a.

We didn't spend our time and lots and lots of negative -- We spent our time communicating and hope to the American people.

The result was the largest one party increased and off here in American history which the American people want a chance to have hope and it.

So there's -- that tomorrow will bring another chapter.

In the race the nomination.

It's more than a chapter in the race for the nomination.

Chapter to fight for the soul of the Republican Party it's a chapter in the fight for the very nature of America.

Chapter defining who we are as a people.

And let me be very clear.

I believe.

That I am the one candidate.

Who has the ability to debate Barack Obama decisive.

And I.

Okay.

Maybe straight.

I don't believe that Romney technique.

About spending your opponent for a 521 with negative ads.

Will work against Barack Obama because there is no possibility.

That any Republican is gonna outrage the incumbent president -- Therefore you can't follow that strategy.

What you have to have -- somebody who knows what they believe.

Understands how to articulated so it cuts through all the media.

Offsets that bias of the elite media who are desperate to reelect the president and has the guts to take the president head on every single time he's wrong.

Yeah and -- Well.

We run out very frugal campaign and.

We couldn't afford one.

-- I've already promised that if the president will agree to 73.

Hour debates in the Lincoln Douglas tradition.

He can use a teleprompter.

He wants.

Okay.

-- And I get that that's -- -- -- you don't know that in the morning.

We -- going on.

To Alabama.

It.

We're -- on the Mississippi.

Okay.

We're going on to Kansas.

I was actually at -- this afternoon starting off our.

Alabama effort and I -- and I wanna sit all of any if you have friends anywhere in the country you can email them.

If you could post on FaceBook something as simple as Newt equals 250 a gallon gasoline.

If you can go to Twitter and put them.

-- today to fifty gas mean we run a very inexpensive very straightforward reach every single person campaign.

I was gonna give you one example.

Of how profoundly different we are both from the other candidates and the president one that I wouldn't love to debate this president.

And that -- -- an overview or holding.

Signs.

I want us to have.

An American.

Energy policy.

So no president will ever again about to a Saudi king.

Okay.

Okay.

I want you to imagine the debate this fall.

The president was right because today is so nervous about.

Gasoline prices and energy that.

He's done two major speeches I thought today.

And one of the most shallow of self serving comments by president that I have heard a long time.

He was candid in his press conference.

He said you know I'm really worried about higher gas prices.

Because.

He'll make it harder for me to get -- what.

I did not make this up.

It was just nice to know that the president once again.

Has managed to take the pain of the American people and turn it into his own personal problems.

Now.

-- The fact is.

I'd love to debate this president because when you read these speeches.

They're so deliciously and -- -- They they are the perfect case study of liberalism run amok and the president says.

The Republicans have three strategies.

Strategy number one is drilling.

Strategy number two is real.

Strategy number three Israel.

And I wanna set -- Mr.

President.

This is one of the rare occasions when I can say you are right.

It.

But the president had an alternative to drilling services like debating it would be.

Just one of those moments where you don't sell tickets for charity.

And.

Okay.

President said we have to be practical drilling won't solve it.

And then he offered his practical suit anybody remember -- little.

Out.

Out.

I mean I think this summer as gas prices keep -- out.

One of our campaign techniques should we have people go to gas stations.

With a jar of out.

And say the people would you rather have.

The Gingrich solution of drilling and having more oil or would you like to try to put this in the gas -- I mean you can't I'm amazed that Saturday Night Live hasn't taken that speech and turned into -- get me.

You can't make this stuff up.

But what made it really intellectually totally and -- Aaron.

Was the president literally two pages after explains that -- doesn't work.

The president explains it had this great breakthrough of natural gas.

That we now have thanks to new technology.

Over a hundred years supply of natural gas.

That in fact we're gonna create 600000.

New jobs the next decade match what is.

And I'm still waiting for one of the reporters at the White House to come out of there comatose we elect Obama's stance.

And asked the following question.

How does the president think.

We discovered the natural -- Because of course the answer is.

Yeah.

Right.

I I came up with a specific proposals have to make visit.

That there could be a better future in practical terms so I proposed two dollars and fifty cents a gallon as a goal.

I have to say my daughter Jackie was off campaign -- -- came.

And after two days -- campaign determined she came back to -- that you know maybe we should change that.

Maybe it's it should be.

2.4.

999.

-- US credit Herman said no.

That will not work as a marketing device stick stick with 250.

Which -- -- she's America.

So I -- 2050 cents -- actually -- -- by asking the oil experts.

What -- price at which you would have continuous exploration.

Is my goal is their energy independence so we are free of the Middle East.

Okay.

-- the Iranians practice closing the straits of Hormuz through which one out of every five barrels of oil on the world flow.

The short term answers the US navy in the US air force and the ultimatum.

The closing the straits would be an act of war and their government would cease to exist.

Okay.

But the long term solution.

Is to create American energy independence.

So we could say that China India in Europe.

You have a problem in the straits of -- we hope you can solve it but where are not in charge up.

Okay.

Now.

Practice.

That 250s attainable.

Governor Romney came in -- it is that I was pandering.

By picking up.

And I just -- to explain to the governor know this is called leading.

And.

-- create large goals.

Leaders create a vision of a better future.

Leaders -- -- the American people to go out and do great things leaders believe.

The American people could easily achieve energy independence if the government cut a hole -- And I.

Okay.

Okay.

So if -- friends.

Ask you why we are emphasizing.

Two dollars and fifty cents and as a practical first of all you can come at a news dot org.

We have there -- entire thirty minute speech which outlines why it is doable and it's practical.

I wrote a book called drill here drill now pay less back in 2008 was -- movie called we have the power -- this is clearly doable.

But in addition point out three numbers there.

Price of gasoline when I was speaker.

Was a dollar -- thirteen.

The price of gasoline when Barack Obama.

Became president.

Was -- tolerating.

All this gigantic increase.

Came from his house.

Remember the natural gas story the president so proud of we have now developed so much natural taxes that supply -- -- running the man.

And the price has fallen from 790.

Seven.

To.

Around two dollars and 86 cents.

Translate that as a percentage decline and this is by the way with an 11% increase in production.

They haven't they haven't -- that they haven't gotten it 25% yet but an 11% increase in production suddenly changed the whole equation of supply and demand.

Now -- at the same experience.

-- -- You would end up that.

The dollar and thirteen what it was -- honest so to fifty.

-- a long way from a radical number 250 is a practical and cautious.

Doable number.

And my -- over the next few weeks is to drive home -- every American.

We don't have to be trapped in -- department of anti energy we don't have to be trapped.

-- EPA which destroys jobs we don't have to be trapped for the president.

Who refuses to build the Keystone Pipeline refuses to reopen the golf refuses to develop -- last.

Okay.

Rip -- your help.

-- -- -- -- We're gonna get enough people to come -- -- dot org and sign up we have a 173000.

Donors already.

95% of them -- less than 250 dollars we have a place that actually command and give one news account this to those -- citizens.

You get excited and give ten gallons -- -- -- With your help.

We're going to go on and to Tampa and win the nomination.

Okay.

Thank.

You.

Good god bless you.
