President Obama firing back at challenges from Republicans that he is to blame for rising gas prices.

Adding it's time for the US to start focusing on Green energy -- -- -- We can place.

Our bets.

The fuel of the pass.

Or we can place our bets on American know how -- American ingenuity.

And American workers you know.

The next time you're here's some politician.

Trotting out some three point plan for two dollar -- You let -- know.

We know better.

-- homework -- revered phony election year promises.

That never come about.

In so Arizona Republican.

Jon Kyl key is the senate minority whip and I'm very pleased -- -- DN in years out.

They're adopted down I guess most of the -- not an Arizona is good to have -- here senator thanks very much could be -- you look posting your mind when will president.

-- -- gasoline is the fuel of the past seems to me that everybody it's having to fill their tanks today.

It's gonna wonder what Obama's talking about.

I know he would like to promote Green energy and he's done everything he -- through subsidies.

For -- Lander and the bullpen did all of the other Green energy concepts.

But they still can't get the price down low enough to where competes with fossil fuel coal for electricity.

The gasoline in our cars.

So they've got a policy to drive the cost of gasoline up and if you look at all the things they've done it has that effect.

First of all they're not expanding the drilling for oil and gas and exploration.

In the United States on public plans.

And on our offshore.

Areas including Alaska -- we could do that.

He's turned down the Keystone Pipeline.

Try to raise taxes on oil and gas companies.

The cap and trade program would have significantly raise the cost of fuel in fact Obama himself said under my plan.

Fuel energy prices will necessarily skyrocket that's -- -- quotation.

You've got all of the regulatory.

Items that are reported out of -- -- refineries out of business.

And a very weak dollar which drives up the cost of gas so all of those policies of the Obama administration are contributing to the increase in gas -- You know he he was at a trucking company and that is -- that -- talked to run on national on natural gas excuse me.

And he got some criticism for that because there are I guess the administration is putting forth some new regulations on fracking.

-- they have not been you know as open to that idea.

As some others so it in and it is that contradictory NA and heat -- -- he time whether Republican candidates in the way they're talking about cast Newt Gingrich said he can get it down to.

A two dollar to a half dollars a gallon.

What do you think about the Republican candidates argument.

On this issue.

Well you could get the price down significantly I don't know -- you can -- -- at a particular level but remember.

The day the President Obama took office gas was a dollar 87 a gallon that's now more than twice that in other words under his administration.

It's more than doubled in price.

And all of the the five things that I mentioned before -- I guess it was have contributed to those increases in prices.

You can't do it overnight but you can Begin the process and when he says well.

These things don't take place for ten years first of all that's wrong you can Begin immediately getting it increased production.

Secondly to the extent -- speculation and -- even his administration hasn't found any.

That's speculation ceases as soon as you announce that -- going to do more exploration and third.

If we had begun some of these things back at the beginning of his administration would be well on the way toward more fuel in sufficiency here in the US.

Essential existed to the election I think there's a feeling that the economy.

Is improving.

Incrementally and that that issue.

May be slipping away from Republicans to a certain extent so there are they hang their hat on the gas price issue in -- behind me right now.

Knowing him for heaven's -- we want the economy debris restored Barney just said that with the bat it's still bad the trend may be slightly good.

But they're still too many things that are dragging down economic recovery and what's one of and the price of fuel.

When you go to the grocery store to buy something they had to get there by a truck and the increased costs in fuel source for that truck raises the price of everything that you buy and and that.

The rebounds all around the economy so that.

There are so many things we could do to improve the economy the administration seems bent on keeping fuel prices high because of their ultimate goal of getting people off of fossil fuels.

That's underneath -- that any president wants reelection and who wants higher higher prices is getting themselves.

I'd -- it -- -- for his election it's not a good thing.

But for policy look at what he's done for the last three and a half years.

Actions speak louder than words so let's talk really quick -- when he took thoughts on that GOP nominee is it Romney seems to be pulling out is pulling up front in terms of his his delegate count.

Santorum's backers are -- telling Gingrich that they think he needs to get out.

Do you think it's time you haven't endorsed anybody do you think it's time for Republicans to to rally around Mitt Romney or not.

I saw Karl Rove in the Green room you couldn't have a better expert on this ask -- I'm not gonna comment on these are all friends of mine there have -- real rowdy race and would you like -- -- -- -- -- You know it to me it's important it would probably be to our advantage of -- as a Republican.

To our advantage to have a nominee sooner rather than later.

Although if you look at the Clinton Obama race for years ago.

I don't think Hillary Clinton got up until maybe about six or seven weeks from now.

Senator Kyl always great to have an America's Newsroom and has real pleasure to see right here in Washington today and thanks for coming into the studio -- appreciate -- -- season.
