In Uganda over the last quarter century now a fugitive probably in the Central African Republic -- The Democratic Republic of Congo but this man has been responsible for the -- the mutilations in slave -- Of tens of thousands of children and you may I think you can how they've missed.

This extraordinary video 29 minute film that was put on line.

By invisible children -- charity organization and in one week got something like sixty million views the fastest growing.

On the Internet -- Invisible children then came in for some criticism about that financing.

Whether they gave enough money to direct aid also whether they with simplifying the problem they -- -- that they put all that.

Financials on their website for everybody to see -- they made the argument that.

Perhaps if you put a couple million it into a movie it generates twenty million wanted to to all sorts of charities.

And they said oversimplifying it that's it exactly the point that's how you get impact sometimes by.

Presenting an issue more simply so what -- other charities make of this and the actions of invisible children Jesse -- Is a policy advisor for children in crisis.

Out world vision great to see if thank you very much great to be here all what's your view of what invisible children have done here.

Well I think anything that can bring awareness to -- the terror that Joseph county has wrought upon eastern Africa is a good thing.

Now that we've had you know close to a hundred million views of this video.

Now -- the time to take this awareness and turn into something a little bit more concrete.

And -- world vision is hoping is that it's this newfound awareness will really inspire millions of people.

To take direct action and and actively engaged.

To partner with community is especially developing communities across Africa.

Yeah and then presumably it's I mean it it seems to me.

Jesse still come out gently to put it politely to criticize these guys for bringing about this sort of awareness because -- will all shortly.

There's a trickle down effect that all of you great charities working.

Giving direct aid in Uganda and other central African nations everybody benefits that -- That's absolutely correct -- -- you know world vision and several other organizations.

Including invisible children have been been beating this drum for -- while.

Tried to let the world know about what was happening in northern Uganda and then now what's happening in in.

Eastern Congo and Southern Sudan in Central African Republic where just a penny has now moved.

And you know sometimes we get -- media coverage about it sometimes people will be talking about it.

But it's been it's been a hard slog and now to see so many people.

People that we never even dreamed would care about this issue suddenly you know calling us up and say hey what it what do you think about this just of -- guy.

It's a tremendous boost odds to be able to talk about.

What we can do to to.

Both -- -- the crisis that he's created and then work to protect the civilians that are still in harm's way power -- Scott Blake -- into the conversation his -- I'm -- hates it just struck me and then last week -- Witnesses -- silly the criticism of this did you do you see this is a positive thing or did you look at and think way what -- these guys really do with the money or.

No I think it's incredibly positive thing and let this -- cynicism of its -- explain button.

In noted sadly our our our general media -- whether for whatever reason doesn't it cover foreign stories the way we need stories like this announcement news junkie I am embarrassed I never heard.

Then as -- -- USA -- a hundred million views now that's probably.

I would -- 99% of those people who viewed that did not know much if anything about Joseph coney and his appalling brutality -- they saw that movie.

Yes that's that's absolutely correct and I think what's important to remembered it too is that.

Just have -- has moved -- from northern Uganda but there is still all a lot to be done in that particular area -- -- -- ugandans are still struggling to cope with.

What's the what's left of a generation that was terrorized by -- violence fear and extreme poverty.

And there's a lot left to do which is why you know we're working with several other.

Amazing organizations.

Two to try to mitigate the damage that Joseph -- dead in partnering with those communities most impacted they need access to you.

Good education any economic -- opportunities they need access to good health and the children of northern Uganda are no longer being killed by bombs and bullets but they're being killed by mosquitoes and infections.

So it's so important that we partner with these communities to make sure they can build a brighter future for themselves.

And all of this awareness is is creating a new opportunity to do that all right Jesse so if somebody has watched the movie or is watching this show right now and thinks.

I want to do something to help.

How do they go about it what's the best way to make a difference.

Well it's absolutely critical that we seize this moment I don't think it will hit the -- I come back again and so -- right now it's never been easier to communicate with our elected officials.

Especially your social media.

And so if this is something that's -- you this is something that's caught your attention and you say I can't believe this is happening in this day and age.

You should tell your congressman and your senators and the president that you care about this issue and that you want to see something -- where the people were impacted by this.

Are able to to have a bright future.

And another thing they can do is reach out to all the amazing organizations.

Who are active in this part of the world.

Again to support the work hand in hand with the communities.

To both protect people who are still in harm's way and then help those whose lives have been shattered -- to rebuild from the ashes.

And so we're just hoping that city.

-- of this because he's on this momentum it's not enough to just click like on FaceBook you have to take some kind of action and so we're hoping that.

That people won't let -- let the leaders know they care about this.

And that they'll also take other steps and join hand in hand with with communities that are impacted by just -- -- right Jesse -- it's not enough quick cook click lie like on FaceBook I think that's the phrase of the day.

And a good message to everybody Jesse -- is policy advisor -- children in crisis.
