Disabled -- -- it -- with a man -- you you know.
Good morning.
That was Rick Santorum.
I campaigning in Tuscaloosa Alabama.
Out -- the dreamland barbecue that I mentioned to you before that is so in fact very delicious.
And though I can't imagine why she would Alice Stewart left those warm and delicious environs she is the communications director for Rick Santorum campaign.
Coming back apparently one of your -- Internet welcome back Alice great to be here and decided -- -- are humans and it is that good.
It is just that good I -- get a Weinstein is senior editor for the daily caller we accept that if you're trying to do and I might be going right on that it would dreamland barbecue have heard about so much -- -- He's from palm beach gardens Florida they don't barbecue there is not as good as they have -- out in Tuscaloosa candidate.
Alabama.
So but Jamie's gonna help us out here so the question -- we heard from senator Santorum.
Allies in the opening of the show where he's told Alabama and Mississippi voters.
This is the way to get somebody who is not Mitt Romney.
Now and not wait to the convention -- Newt Gingrich who says let's take it to the convention he freely admits that he is unlikely to get to 1144.
Delegates necessary to secure the Republican nomination but he says what the heck let's just go he'll be -- Warren G.
Harding the dark horse.
Rick Santorum is making.
Very I mean you you can say it's complex but it certainly respects the voter the -- -- voter that says no.
Don't do that.
Line up behind me now we can defeat Mitt Romney and not leave this on the convention floor -- I don't know.
Well certainly I mean you want seal the deal -- Campbell we have now is narrowing down -- the two man race between -- and Mitt Romney.
And what we're seeing is that one are people saying that Britain now has the momentum but he also is -- true consistent conservative we have in this race and we can't be splitting the vote with the anti -- -- You know Mitt Romney has been saying -- saying all along we'll mathematically it's just impossible for Rick -- The speaker institute to win this that's not true what they're doing with that -- -- simply a smoke screen.
Did take.
The spot left the -- designer doesn't face the -- is not rallying behind Mitt Romney he's had the money he's had that infrastructure and -- the name any firm 678 years.
And he's not energizing the base where we have Rick Santorum who truly miss you and great -- -- -- hadn't.
Had great feedback and yeah I took a lot of people to recognize the fact okay.
He's got the momentum and I can rally behind and they that you know and in states like the Bible -- in Alabama Mississippi.
They he lines up with their views and values in terms of you know not social issues alone but on fiscal issues on -- on issues in terms of energy.
Unleashing American energy that's critical moment Gulf Coast region and in those those topics play very well and -- -- resonates with the people and it's time for people to.
The other -- that conservatives are the base in the Tea Party groups to rally behind Rick because he is the one cannot only take on Mitt Romney but certainly Obama in the fall.
Whoever that big -- -- was in the previous segment was saying something about why Tuscaloosa where you heard Rick Santorum campaigning so important because it's got so many of these Bible believing.
Very serious orthodox Christians who were out there on the west to the west.
Of Birmingham there's a lot of folks out there and they should line up pretty well -- Rick Santorum you I want to also ask you this and I tweeting off.
A suggestion from one of our very Smart viewers.
Just because -- drops -- doesn't mean that Santorum.
Gets all of his supporters.
What about that fact that when we look at a head to head Alice in the latest Wall Street Journal poll that shows Romney in head to head beatings and that's the first time he's been somebody who's the leading -- strong proves this the -- running.
Opponent what about that.
Well that you know our information indicates -- in the majority of asking her supporters would come over to Rick and and that's what that's what we -- you know basing our predictions on -- we put out.
A delicate -- yesterday was clearly states that the road moving ahead.
Is in -- favor.
But let Mitt Romney has right now certainly has more delegates but as we move forward.
The stays on the map down the road are more and and -- you know its home state Pennsylvania is is on the calendar.
But we've got a lot of unbound a delegates out there and and you're very familiar with the process you -- found -- -- tell you everything you know that.
Hello I'm -- delegates -- typically going to go toward a more conservative candidate as opposed to moderate which is Mitt Romney so we've got that.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- What would you like you've been -- your life over -- what would you like to ask.
Sure I'm -- just two quick questions one is this is senator Santorum does he -- he can get 1144 before the convention or does he believe that his path to victory comes at a convention and probably more importantly how big of a loss for the senator.
Was Jeff Ross received far foxworthy.
How come -- was -- of the globe.
Clearly disappointed because you know you gotta get the redneck yeah she's from -- -- -- -- that's okay that's.
Know that -- trick she's pretty much as cheesy as big distinction because the despondent but it even better than that I mean I love Jeff Foxworthy.
We got good support from Alabama governor Bentley today yeah I -- -- we met with Hillary Clinton -- last night late last night and Alabama and we got back to DC in the middle of the night but.
-- you know announcing he voted for -- today so that's important.
But but the key is in terms of you know.
Will we get 1144 prior to the convention you know it's it's tough to say one and -- do everything we possibly can't you know that you -- know.
-- -- -- -- is great but what we're doing is we're focusing on the delegates you know we get -- has won seven states virtually tied in Michigan which is critical and virtually.
And split the delegates -- going we're looking at the delegate count now as opposed to getting first.
-- it coming in second in a lot of key states so we're looking at the delegate counts racking up the delegates and that goes to convention you know we're optimistic that things will play out there well that.
-- we're just looking for the many first place finishes and and possibly second that we can possibly get.
I'm -- to -- eking out -- people but you know where Robert Bentley is from he's from Tuscaloosa.
He's from the west side of Birmingham where all of those Christian conservatives are and what he was able to do to win and this is probably the key for Rick Santorum.
Is knit together those -- -- blue collar.
Folks outside of the larger cities that Mitt Romney struggles with and put it together with what.
Where -- -- fighting with Newt Gingrich which is in the country.
Out of the country said -- -- -- even some of these counties and only have 6700 votes gonna be cast.
So Jamie let's let's let's talk about this and as it goes forward.
Is the Republican Party by the way you look at.
-- the regionally divided party how different is the south.
Vs you know Tennessee which we so wish the first southern state to really vote is split its part -- laughter.
Horror -- how divided these -- Republican Party is obviously preferable so what if I think that in itself is not quite as important unfortunately from -- and as the rest of the states and in the country only because that they're gonna vote for the Republican nominee almost no matter what.
Whether -- no matter who wins this this election today I think Romney Gingrich or -- or a Santorum would carry him in the general election so it's not like Ohio we're trying to show strength in the state that's a swing state.
I think these states are are gonna go Republican either way.
In the general.
Alastair would love to be with us today we're angry -- that you do not bring us any barbecue -- -- little profit to go box but evidently not the time I got.
That's -- -- today people tell the truth in politics she admits she couldn't even gotten richer -- we thank you so much we have a good election night.
Jenny thanks for being here -- okay Internet guess what I have read I have even better news -- this is better than barbecue.
From dreamland.
Charles was back on the panel last night so now at long last we are able to leave you as we would like to do every day with the word from our French -- Yes it's wrong to say EU EU surge in order to withdraw.
-- you wasting American lives you surge in order.
To stabilize -- situation and succeed.
If you announce a withdrawal immediately you demoralized.
Anybody in Afghanistan who would be our supporters and without the support of the locals -- counterinsurgency cannot succeed so it was doomed from the beginning.
You've got to ask yourself why did Obama surge I think he was simply trying to -- -- democratic position.
That there at his party had argued for years and years against the Bush Administration saying Afghanistan is a good war the important war.
They're essential war and Iraq is a bad war.
