We're back with John Ramsey he is the author of the other side of suffering.
John speaking of suffering one of the parts that you were accused was that you exploited your daughter to pageants and all the things that that that sort of took her from being a little girl and do you regret any of that is well it's it's hard to sort that out because obviously were criticized some doubts that he -- which we have done that.
-- dominate just had fun with -- Apache came out of the Miss America environment it was a talent.
You don't always elect.
Kind of a contest and that's when she tried mr.
-- towards coming it was a very extra word child and -- -- -- Jews.
-- rated talk saying.
-- issues trying to get her out of venue to to explore her talents.
And and see if she -- -- that -- found it wasn't the main part of life and -- of course that's -- was -- that's how it was -- -- is it -- guys -- the sort of -- parents but now I'm really not it at all at all not at all.
Patsy you -- hope that Germany would lose a few of these so she would understand that you do lose in life vacation.
There was also that since who you look back at you -- very open your very active in the community people -- in your home for Christmas.
This this happened Christmas Day I think that's what you can get Christmas night -- so.
Do you feel that that may have opened due to a vulnerable yeah I think it did -- I regret that I think it's good to be.
Anonymous had this much -- you can't.
And we were not been -- we were.
It was a small community we had a rather large business and community and they would run articles about -- occasionally we're growing rapidly and hiring people and I don't know it I think that.
Is anybody still working on this case actively from well there are men and women who.
Came into the case on their own.
Seasoned retired homicide detectives -- continue to work on it as the need presents itself and I'm grateful for that -- Smith was one of the key guys that that did that for years -- he died a year ago but.
Which was and loss of a friend and I hand him a real allies at least -- -- John -- -- -- this guy.
One thing that's been very evident is that a lot of the scientific methods particularly DNA evidence is what eventually completely cleared -- and patsy -- you've got an apology.
Yes from the district attorney now finally different district attorney did -- -- hunted you down.
How how gratifying and validating was that well it was it was I was it was gratifying and that it was a step forward was -- huge step forward to you we've crossed a bridge that.
Was important terms of solving the case in my mind I didn't look at -- -- Necessarily point closure.
But it it was progress and that's argued it.
How did you stay.
With some level of faith because this would be the kind of experience and is not just the Jonbenet debt but -- -- -- that the media circus that you went through the accused by the police are supposed to be the good guys they don't have to be the bad guys.
Yet you did not give up on your -- how did you remain well it was and that's part of what I tried to deal with in the book to help people with the same issues I dealt -- when -- was killed my oldest daughter the first words out of my mouth was where -- there -- no god and we screamed I -- I hit.
-- and I started to grow from there I think anytime something tragic happens at one flight to face changes.
I've met people were you just wanna wait until like they can't be eleven guys that that is if this is what's happened to me.
It grew the end I begin to understand what god promises -- when he doesn't promise.
See him he doesn't promises protection from difficulty he promises to get student -- called -- to begin to understand that and I also hold.
Kind of after the fact.
Started to see -- god put people my wife.
Along this difficult path that helped.
Dramatically -- -- big -- I thought that's how god gets things done he works through people and it was very clear to me looking back that.
Indeed there were people in our life with just the right moment that got us through and -- in my mind was.
Because -- -- my face was very much strengthen and that's what I wanted to help people with from the book.
And and I would say John that I think that's what comes through more than anything it's it's a very compelling narrative of what happened.
But more than anything the conclusion that I come away with.
Is that despite all of the challenges and all the pressures.
You were able not to escape those things.
But to find God's peace in God's grace through them it is a room.
