I think I wanna get to your -- -- fashion today Etch A Sketch well I mean that is they're still biases here -- mean never in the first -- a liberal bias where an aid of Mitt Romney.
Uses this.
Somewhat vivid bit awkward metaphor of the Etch A Sketch of how Romney can make -- entire record go away and so on.
Which he speaks to a kind of cynicism and probably have frankly an -- -- that was -- marianas forgotten what Mitt Romney did it.
Governor masters is not what does it Rick Santorum forgotten what.
-- how -- -- or can -- forgot how Romney ran his campaign.
But the media have jumped on that has been statement -- -- not for the candidate himself and services typhoon.
Criticism including some -- -- Peggy Noonan to produce pretty big swing at.
At Romney today in the Wall Street Journal.
Armed but most of it is just with a little media trying to pile on Iran here's your users a way to camera so that's that's one kind of -- -- frankly kind of familiar the other kind of -- was just a lesson.
For all of us politicos is being very careful.
When you choose to make a what they call a concrete metaphor vivid image mean most of the time politics talk and blather that tax cut spending cuts tax increase spending nobody really gets it right.
When it gets more specific.
Keystone Pipeline people I get -- -- -- visualize my point gasoline tax you can visualize putting your.
Your gas -- In in your cars on.
That then you get then you get -- trouble also for example when Mitt Romney Mitt Romney's dog was the story of famous duck ever I don't know another of hundreds at a country knows about.
And and and it's become a major interstate pulls out now -- have to be where the concrete image of our mayor there and give us.
Jim's point about the love that liberal side of the media jumping all over the Etch A Sketch comment has some validity probably but.
I'd have to say that the it was put out there as well by every one of his GOP.
Opponents for -- for the nomination.
Who brandished etch -- sketches on stages across the nation yesterday.
Yeah we'll look it I've been in politics for a long time I've done a lot of campaigns let me tell you how that works it's not about bias with something -- that sticks and takes off the way it did.
It's because it speaks to a perception.
Of the candidate.
There's truth in that reality.
And the reason -- at to -- and Etch A Sketch comment.
Stock is because everybody has questions about Mitt Romney's trustworthiness when he says one thing and does another dozen -- says something else that's why it took off.
-- is not about bias aside in about it specific examples it went to the heart.
Of the concerns about Mitt Romney and when it comes to trust.
That is -- people decide how to vote do I trust this person and that's the big hurdle Romney has to overcome it he's going to be president that's why that took off had nothing to do and anything.
Jimmy did speak to trust did it did that look you know when President Obama said he campaigned in 57 states.
What what what does that speak to when when President Obama said that.
Ordinary white working class Americans -- clinging -- really -- guys.
Everybody knows that when Obama said that in a fund raiser and -- in San Francisco 2008 he was speaking to the bi coastal condescension toward.
Heartland America -- that is true statement you -- guess.
In terms of what about a window and Obama's feelings when he trash the -- As Fred Burton at the time but they -- monitor didn't they didn't count them little mainstream -- did not.
Pound away on Obama the way the mainstream media here -- anyway and Romney -- well.
I'm -- -- I won last observation I would just say.
The reason -- took off is it it -- it was said by in this very chair someone who's been with Mitt Romney.
Get out of -- over a decade in a one of his closes its number one and number two.
Welcome to Twitter FaceBook and -- I mean that is the different even in four years between 2008 and 2012.
Lightning speed things take off and take on a life of their we've seen it across many many things just not politics out of that and I think that's the big difference.
And Jim -- weighing in here one of of view is saying.
Now we have news Santorum waving to bullies around like a bunch of five girls throwing a fit it's fascinating to watch.
But it does up hobby no good they -- not being presidential.
And that's what that is -- -- president that they have they they fed the fire -- I do agree I think -- what Romney ought to do is look might as as your viewers has.
My opponents are waving around towards President Obama is standing in front of an empty pipeline and never have oil it's just it's just -- symbolism here on.
If you want me to match -- symbol for symbol I can't do -- that they can have toys Obama -- about the pipelines -- Mitt Romney will create jobs you know grow the economy whatever.
It there is that there is up up to get every.
Backlash -- -- another backlash that backlash against people waiting toys is why why am -- you fighting it's just files right.
Very heavy and aim it you live Romney you know campaigning through most of this year like he's a cast member of glee OK you end up -- they did offer -- -- all day long I am so glad he is I'm.
-- -- -- -- But buddy that's please let me just get sicker I think how well we don't go there.
No let's not go that but -- on -- YouTube you you know being an advisor to a presidential candidate.
Just on on a human level this advisor who said that.
What ever he meant what out of context he meant he became the story he became the face of the idea of what was interpreted as a -- Never gonna work again.
I'll -- hello -- and Eric -- -- it is it will not be fired.
He is not only an advisor to Mitt Romney he's an advisor to Scott Brown the united state senator -- And they double down and circled the wagons and that there's nothing's gonna happen there first and I sure you.
I I think that that the difference here is because of -- relationship with Mitt Romney going back to his first gubernatorial race.
And his long service to him and he's been around in politics in in journalism before that.
For a long long time I think that that really fueled the fire because of the source yes it was a Mitt Romney.
It was one of his most trusted aides so I think that her but it them it was more about Romney -- it went to the heart of people's concerns about -- and that's the real story there.
Jim the you've obviously never made a mistake as a as they get campaign advisor on any level -- from those people you know who happened.
What does it feel like when you put foot in math and think oh who couldn't.
I mean I say the honorable thing to -- -- -- capture -- is right that they're gonna keep them the honor the honorable thing to do is to say look if you think act.
You need to meet the that is better than I it.
Take him or her instead of me and and that and everything except resignation then fine it's over you know if they don't accept that they've been sort of got -- -- lease on life against a major colleges aren't.
But I think this is a serious nothing that I would I would say listen.
I refresh -- maybe put me on the bench royal velvet.
At a minimum because it is that because I -- do agree having big you know that the Democrats now have a permanent talking point they'll they'll be they'll be waiting -- -- sketches at that at the convention in Charlotte.
