With this new requirement with a lot of companies joining me now channeling Brian we're coaching co author of that Twitter job search guide great to have you here channeling thank you Jamie.

We know you can use Twitter and other social media to get the word out that you're looking for a job.

But there are do's and don'ts on actually being on social media when you're looking for one -- you first use it to your advantage.

Well first of all I think it's really important to know that you can and should use it to your advantage in fact.

I do some consulting work for a job search start up called start wired dot com.

And they recently did a study of 6600.

Job seekers.

Based on when they applied for the position and they found that 50% of the people that got the job.

Actually applied within one week that the position was listed so you really need to apply early the early bird.

Gets the job often and if you don't apply early.

You need to find a way to establish a connection with the company and one of the easiest ways to do that is through social media.

Okay so we know don't put the pictures -- you drink in the Beers at the party whether it's a company party you're not.

Don't spend lots hours on these social media pages weren't -- of markets say up.

Oh my goodness from nine to five there on -- -- they're not focused.

But you say that you can post things opinions an otherwise.

But Mamie till way -- -- an issue asked for feedback but don't give an opinion -- Well I think the best things you can do is to not leave any room for miss interpretation.

And one of the things that's challenging about any written word is that you can't hear tone of voice and so if you only say what happened.

Then it's really hard for there to be -- this interpretation -- often times if there's controversial information I recommend sharing that.

But not assigning any adjectives to it that's really interesting because there's so many times you -- -- valor attacks and the person writes back -- Or question mark is it can be misinterpreted.

-- is this new policy which is growing and even I read today one report that FaceBook.

Is thinking of taking action to try to get some response to this invasion of potential privacy.

It is Federer.

Come are the companies beyond blond -- been in the once you think of the CI -- that.

Would look at your postings it is this world -- like every company you applied to now wants to know your password.

I don't think that the problem that of people asking for passwords is worldwide in fact I think the number of companies that ask for that is relatively slim.

I think the problem is with privacy settings on FaceBook and other social media sites -- general especially ones that.

You accessed the -- Facebook's APIs and and the ones that allow you to sign in to face but as we all know Facebook's privacy policies have been.

Nebulous at times it ambiguous in fact I recently read that they took the work privacy out of their user policies.

And so I think you need to be very careful because a lot of times any time.

You give the site access to information it will draw in information from a lot of other sites -- -- -- the point of today's take charge is.

Give it some thought folks it's not just the obvious party pictures and such and the things you say.

It's whether or not to give up the information for a job much more on this online as well as this segment -- it's great to have you here.

Thank you so much thank you for having me.
