Hi I'm Pat Caddell we're here with campaign insiders.

There -- weekly online show.

-- on the best information what's happening inside politics and about the spin and without the conventional.

Press discussions joining me today are my colleagues.

All all Doug -- The great professor of American politics I mean -- Arafat and congress former congressman John look routier who is the it was the who was he driving force of madness in his own party I don't know -- to -- so anyway we're here today and there's a lot to discuss.

And let me ask you this -- while -- -- -- and this is always awkward for me -- because I'm posting which is always fun.

But anyway -- please send in your comments if you're online online chat you can send your comments and we will discuss in the next segment.

I want to start by saying that was big news this morning.

And it's I think it's pretty amazing the president -- South Korea yesterday was caught on -- talking to the president of the -- the outgoing president of Russia.

And basically what the president said was.

Don't worry about missile defense as soon as some reelected.

I have to give me some space is the word -- right now after -- re elected I'll have a lot more flexibility.

Doug what do you think -- Russian expert well here's what -- -- -- win.

The current president Medvedev went back and said okay.

Basically I'll go tell Vladimir.

I -- that kind of thing that sort of suggests pretty strongly.

That the critiques of Obama as being weak and deferential on foreign policy are all too true.

Now whether the Republicans can take advantage of this time will tell but having seen the footage and regrettably we don't have -- this morning that.

But boy I think it's damning you could be a big issue would -- Plus I think also our allies in Poland the Czech Republic who repeatedly have felt sold out by Obama after bush really run out on limb to.

Get them to agree to put these -- at the time what was considered provocative.

Missiles structures in their countries now.

They are hearing this guy gets reelected he's gonna sell us out again that's got to be -- I I think foreign policy.

Becoming more important than people think but I wanna tell you what I've been -- been on my monitor try to -- -- a place I think that the real issue the president raised.

If I -- the Republicans -- part of this -- people moment my reference to the stupid party could ever get its act together.

They would be saying wait till this guy if he gets reelected has no election based what he's really gonna do.

And in foreign policy and why we're concerned about the State of Israel be worried.

I would be concerned river his administration is considering cutting missile look.

Our our nuclear arsenal to 300 for a unilateral.

And he's -- -- giving way missile missile defense I mean do you think that's a kind of the issue that could be.

I icy -- there is an overarching critique that has come from the right.

Which is wait till he's reelected and he doesn't have to go before the voters and the first part of this comment.

Yesterday was this is my last election right so I think for those on the right who tried to make the argument.

People like -- our mutual friend Sean Hannity that when he's unbound he'll be -- on.

You know on restrain -- this provides -- for what.

-- that also affects the senator doesn't it John there are a lot of people who are unhappy with what they believe his government intrusion.

Big government we're gonna -- You -- but right now the health care but -- -- don't you think those kinds of questions affect even more than just the right boy definitely do and I think it hit it.

I think independent voters are wary of presidents acting.

Sort of untethered you know what is this -- all about why does he do what he does -- -- we control.

Well well let's go right to the issue without some on the on the on the docket today which right now while we're speaking.

The Supreme Court is starting the first of three days of hearings -- or oral arguments on the healthcare reform act through affordable care for volunteers its fans real fans -- And in the president about that last week the first -- -- remembered this is unprecedented.

Please don't.

The court is taking three days.

To have three sets them up hearing of arguments over issues today it's whether or not they -- they could just wait -- when he fifteen.

Tomorrow's the big one the mandate.

In the constitutional mandate and then on Wednesday.

They're having the question of if they find the mandate unconstitutional they have to find the whole law and country pulse of ability.

All right -- wants to take a first.

Law only go for -- say that this has.

We're where we -- politics on this show and people sometimes think the Supreme Court is not political what is it's a political institution all nine justices are appointed through the political system.

They are reacting to the fact this is the biggest domestic issue.

Probably in the last forty years in this country was the creation of obamacare.

And the way it was done was so controversial after.

Mr.

Obama ran saying I am not in favor of an individual mandate he repeatedly said that.

He won the election he reversed he put the mandate and they can get through dirty deals on the senate.

The Nebraska deal Louisiana purchase all these things cornhuskers compromise -- Remember also remember they bought -- the trial lawyers to drug industry in all and I AARP -- -- -- is here is what I would say you and I talked about this.

This is the seminal.

Issue.

That -- one way or another impact this election that has gotten until just the last week or so virtually no attention.

The Democrats are defending the law because they have to -- grudgingly the Republicans again until the last week or so.

Largely MIA but I believe as I know you do -- you.

More articulately and frankly more fervently than they believe that this issue has the capacity to completely upset the apple cart.

Yes I do that I do because I believe that American voters see this as basically a crime against democracy the way was passed.

One party pass in fact one house the house couldn't go to conference of their entire efforts were -- game.

But more importantly which you just point out -- to me is that the Democrats are trying as he did yesterday with the plot.

Who was the presence.

He's Leo enforcer in the White House politically with -- Did you -- did you say fourteen himself about they're making a case that this was Romney the conservatives did this they're playing very bad hand they have.

Well what's amazing to me and I want you to respond to this.

The constitutionality.

We've had stunning number not only you people want to repeal.

We we we saw it.

Gallup had a poll when they asked people about a 72%.

Said they thought -- was the mandate was unconstitutional including the majority of Democrats -- get the Republicans.

They'll mention that.

-- let me give you probably a more Cogent answer than you might even be barred.

There's been no discussion.

By the Republicans are much less the Democrats.

And other than -- having -- in the wall street journal of the whole notion of what kind of a society we want -- -- how much government do we want.

What is the appropriate role for government and what's -- alternative view Ford.

The federal government.

And bottom line the Republicans have failed to make an argument.

Other than just.

Job -- who have written down on your Paper there the Ryan plan which largely all this race Medicare increases the deficit cuts taxes.

Every time the Republicans have this issue in their sites.

They come -- Paul Ryan comes out.

And helps to threaten to derail the entire political last election wall with his with his propulsion I don't tonight I don't understand argue why he was able why he does -- -- 1% last week or two weeks ago the Congressional Budget Office yes came out -- this and I went to.

And I'm gonna argue for the sake of our show that that CBO.

Is neutral nonpartisan.

Because you got Harry Reid in the senate Democrat John Boehner.

Eric Tanner -- -- on the right.

In the Republican Party they have to agree on the staff into the CBO and they -- -- director and it come out last week and said to thanks.

Which is.

Obamacare at 3.5 trillion dollars to the national debt we never heard that four -- two years ago.

And twenty million Americans will lose their health care from employers.

Once Obama lawyers and won't why are Republicans talk where everybody -- I've heard almost no one -- take these these issues up.

-- -- -- I think I think dollars startlingly absent for example.

Just the simple idea -- simple idea.

Of purchasing insurance in the private market.

Across state lines something center right percent -- -- -- -- support its logical it'll appeal to swing voters appeal -- Republicans even some Democrats.

Again who's articulate -- know -- -- -- why didn't want it Mitch McConnell senate Republican later say there will be no more votes on health care this year.

I wanna tell you my belief is and I suggest this yesterday when we were doing our every 530 on this Sunday night on final his final news fairly he has every.

Every Sunday at 530.

I want to tell you I believe at the bottom of this in the Republican congress.

They basically don't even want to deal with this issue the house is abandoned this after their perfunctory.

Statement -- were calling you set for some reason which I don't get.

Somewhere down here somebody -- a woman offend somebody.

And being handed way the issue which is an academic study backed up what we've -- said Doug about Britain about.

This was a decisive issue 2000.

Let's -- -- was the issue that you won the house from the Republicans in the Tea Party revolver Bible we gotta get to the partisan why with the Republican leadership.

Ignore.

The masses of the Republican voters who want to repeal it.

What -- -- -- with a two issues that I -- simpler to use.

Mitt Romney as David -- call yesterday the godfather.

Of the individual mandate.

Is basically.

Effectively precluded himself.

From talking about it with his defense of the bill.

And I think that frankly Santorum.

Has been so angry so mean spirited and so petty.

That he is not offered a thorough going critique of -- the legislation.

Or more important what the American people want but what's the way forward -- -- -- those of the presidential candidates private Mitch McConnell cantor and.

And we wanted the me expand -- where is the opposition narrative they're not just the Republican Party but they're conservatives -- moderate.

People who oppose this who have not picked up will not made the case we've had thousands of thousand or more exemptions including many people's Ford built.

There are being exempted from you talked about the CBO the corruption of this.

The difference -- you pointed this out 2009.

CBO was appointed a senior -- by the Democrats.

And they've basically -- -- -- ahead of -- was warned.

And what might -- -- -- out force or Rahm Emanuel -- he better play ball or he would have a future and suddenly they sell this would save money.

But then -- the country always knew this would cost much.

But this is -- -- -- to the question who does this help politically we're gonna.

You know I I think pat the simple way to put it is this is insider politics.

It helps the insiders who -- part of the inside the beltway crowd -- what you -- in Washington.

You saw how things work.

How congressman.

We'll give nods and winks.

I think money when -- and using what right money buys what money is always look at we will take a break we'll be back.

Sending your comments we'll have we'll have some questions and we're -- -- don't of the Republican race and that wonderful effort that's going on.

Continues just to go along and all.
