Marching outside the courthouse today apparently the numbers have doubled -- in tripled since yesterday now as we -- day two we heard from Ron Johnson a Republican senator Wisconsin.
-- last hour he is firmly against this wall standing.
This hour when -- talk with a physician -- primary care physician in Washington he supports the health care law and a breast cancer survivor.
Who supports the law was well doctor Michael Newman is they're in -- board.
-- -- outside the courthouse can you both hear me okay good morning.
Yes -- Hillary the united I don't feel we're -- us about what you position on this what what -- supportive.
I support the health care a lot.
-- the Affordable Care Act because it gives people.
Who otherwise wouldn't have access to affordable medical care.
And this story -- -- like just encountered this morning is illustrative of exactly what the Affordable Care Act.
Will enable all Americans to take advantage of our -- houses like in a moment but you know what the other doctors are saying they're running already away from these federal programs like Medicaid and Medicare.
Especially Medicaid they're taking fewer patient.
You know I think that that's unfortunate.
Positions at most positions agree with several things the current system isn't working it doesn't enable us to care for patients.
That would like to care for patients we need to change this system there's no question that most physicians agree with that.
Now as physicians we need to be engaged and involved every piece of social legislation starting with Social Security.
Is imperfect at the beginning.
VA CA is not a perfect piece of legislation but without physician involvement and participation.
It will not evolved into the effect -- program though you ought to be.
Who argues that they have to stay in business as well and the new report from the CBO last week suggests not only is this thing gonna cost a lot of money you know.
It'll be double the price tag that's on the table now.
-- -- -- we support that doctor.
You know I I challenge the fact that it's going to be double the price but.
The issue is not the cost of medicine that the issue is value right now.
Now America's per capita spending is twice what other comparable countries and our health outcomes are less.
We're not getting the maximum medical value for every dollar that's -- we need to change how we deliver care.
So that the quality of care we provide is battered and we'll be able to make it more.
Florida boy you mentioned spike ma'am thank you for your time why do you support this law.
Well first I was very critical of the Affordable Care Act because.
Com my husband and I -- and a self employed and we couldn't afford health insurance anymore it was 15100 dollars a month so what because.
What she was I found out we hadn't had health insurance.
For a couple of years because we couldn't for the 15100 a month anymore and I found a lump in my breast.
And you have a personal member I found out I had stage three breast cancer.
And didn't know anything about the preexisting condition insurance plan under the Affordable Care Act until spring to -- -- some research for me.
And within ten days I I got the insurance that I needed and done.
I'm getting chemotherapy treatments and I'm gonna lips no idea how does get any earlier than.
I -- feel announced by.
Now I'm I feel really good I know I'm halfway through this -- extremely -- but -- You know it's just it's there's a lot of misinformation out there and I didn't do all my I didn't do any fact checking on my own and assumed an awful lot and I just really really great well.
To have the pre existing content condition insurance.
I appreciate both your times quite good luck to you and your health of their own the best I can get out there the best care the standard -- offering doctors you know.
This is a hot debate as to whether or not we're yeah we are really doing the best we can't.
-- -- 300 million Americans were the Malone stands of whether it is.
Shot down to thanks to both you today outside thank you thank you for helping Americans better understand -- affordable care -- giant you know it's 44 under appreciated its.
I mean it's taller -- I am and on -- love it.
