On the job done well so it's Florida's governor Rick -- -- -- -- to announce an effort to bring jobs from New York City to his onstage and as a right now governor always.
It's nice hat he had just got back from new York and you could -- -- the unduly lover -- for.
New York businesses in New York employees.
To do so much better in Florida -- Bloomberg -- appreciated your -- but what are you trying to do.
Gosh well I went -- one American businesses -- do well we're competing in the world market.
And I know that they can do a better job if they're headquartered and if they work in Florida so what are you know on top of having well.
I'm right -- I've written a letter and I'm going to be call on basically I start with a hundred.
Largest companies in New York.
I'll be calling on their CEOs are in a letter today.
Now -- -- continue to do that to let them know not only earns our weather better.
We've got lower cost of living but also it's just a better place to do business of making compete in the world market the way better than you can if you're sitting in New York City -- New York State.
I'm you know -- this comes at a time when a lot of your colleagues are across southern states are trying to do.
Similar things that governor Indiana trying to woo folks in businesses from Illinois.
The governor -- Ohio trying to -- folks from both of those states.
On -- all bragging about lower tax or better business environments.
And who wins in a in a contest.
-- -- -- Florida wins the may look at.
We if you look at dark tax rates -- business tax for the fifth lowest they've before lower than us.
But the to decode is Wyoming and Alaska.
Great states now we're we're not competing with them.
New York and that surveys number 49.
We're number five a the most populous states were number one.
With regard to regulation we're dramatically better -- New York teacher quality something important everybody we're number one in the country.
Workforce training -- the US chamber were number one in the country so.
If you think about the things are important to businesses and their customers so they can the business can do better clearly Florida is a better choice.
But why geographically.
Did you have to make the -- New York I mean -- you could have easily gone.
You know it's of any one of the southern states but some of them have have lower rates and better business environments and yours right South Carolina.
Not a lesser extent Georgia so why not make -- to ditch there.
Well first thought -- look at that dichotomy -- number five.
New York's number 49 so it's the spread is dramatic New York it was like to join other you know -- New York was worth the trip.
Gosh absolutely we're doing really well there are a lot of companies that are coming down from the northeast especially New York.
Because of taxes because the regulation -- -- because of permitting processes.
So where we're clearly the place if you want to do business you wanna come to Florida.
The phase it in -- thing about -- as a customer you're not want to pay more because the companies headquartered businesses and jurisdiction with.
Higher taxes more cost regulation more litigation risk.
And plus you -- living environment with great beach is great whether or not is known.
Look -- probably wondering if there's a stigma fairly or not attached to Florida that was the ground zero in the real estate meltdown and a lot of these businesses might be saying well.
We're not so sure that there were not so sure there are out of the -- Well.
Mean was he right bears are heard it from buying these -- out here -- -- -- marry well you know the our home sales are up 8% if you think -- Near if you if you make -- 125000.
Dollars in New York City it's worth.
Down here you -- in Paris -- 8000 dollars so think -- -- what you can do as far as education for your child transportation vacation house and all these things.
It's just and plus you get to today I think it's about thirty degrees warmer here than it is in New York City so the weather's great the beaches are great.
The regulation is better all these things and make -- he.
I don't know what I'd love to learn about it is hot in the summer in humans that's owns.
Well it has to do well in business this is the state of -- we have air edition of course the governor you know money commander -- a little bit into politics here Marco Rubio.
Of course announce his support for Mitt Romney that's prompted -- he might make a great number two.
And the Republican ticket what do you think -- -- well.
Is from our great state from Miami he would be a great number two.
In the great thing about in -- that ticket is they care about businesses which is what I care about is jobs jobs jobs.
We did in Florida we -- in the country so that it would be very.
Formal -- -- for prison -- Obama.
Our and I know you've addressed this -- in the past but if you -- those -- governor in the street and Martin case.
The new Black -- Party is targeted.
That's the shooter George Zimmermann calling for a sort of I guess a vigilante style.
Arrests what do you make him.
But the first thing it's and in that case is this thing about that poor family -- a seventeen year old it no no family in this country.
Can just imagine that happening to them it's a wonderful.
Famine that both the parents last week.
We have I have a new state attorney in the vault I've got the Florida department law enforcement.
But look this vigilante justice does not and makes no sense nobody wants to be subject to that -- -- justice.
We have a process to make sure justice prevails he has be fair to the -- and Martin -- only fair to George Zimmermann but we cannot have vigilante justice.
Do you think -- that's gonna call on to question.
Whether these you know gated communities.
Should have essentially their own private police force complete with.
Guys who have guns maybe that shouldn't -- We don't I think I think what happens and anytime that a tragedy like this happens this is clearly tragedy people should go back and think about what they're doing.
You know we elect one thing I've done is I'm -- said the task force.
So what's this investigation's over well look at the laws we have authorities -- law -- -- change anything but I think it is usually you on that particular.
You know and I'm not you know I'm a look at it -- -- -- task force a look at it but you know we're in a forty year -- our primary in Florida this is a very safes states -- We've done very well with their primary and so you know we're gonna look at all these things to make sure we continue to do the right thing for the citizens of our great state.
So when would these other issues concerning serenity.
He got into a scuffle with a determined -- than you thought Martin was a threat to him.
Any thoughts on that you believe.
Well you know -- do is you know that's why I have this I have a great state attorney look into it we've got the Florida department law enforcement.
The US attorneys looking into it.
We're gonna find out exactly what happened and we'll make sure that justice prevails are you surprised that the international reaction this is gone.
We know I think any trash like this in this absolute tragedy he need to go back -- look at at what happened make sure the -- laws are right make sure that justice prevails and that's what we're doing here okay.
Governor it's always a pleasure thank you -- I've seen but by governor Rick Scott.
