-- -- -- -- Your mission is simple mr.
Obama -- -- most infections to gain unchecked flexibility.
That is the latest stat from American crossroads having some fun with president Obama's hot Mike moment with Russia's outgoing President Dmitry Medvedev.
American crossroads is just one of the super packs weighing in on the 2012 presidential race.
Now court's decision is set to change how super -- across the political spectrum disclose where their money comes -- Karl Rove is an advisor for American crossroads also former senior advisor and deputy chief of staff to president George W.
Bush and -- Fox News contributor Carl great -- today.
Great to see you it's -- -- the -- that you just showed this is unaffected by the court decision Washington DC it's.
Pay four -- 527 which discloses its donors on a monthly basis.
Okay let's get into that ruling that came -- from the district court in DC on Friday.
-- on the fact that the FB CS EC needs to change its rules with the way that people have to disclose what money they are getting.
Basically saying they'd that the FCC is misinterpreted the way that this should -- The what do you anticipate will come from that and do you think that groups like yours for other ads will be forced to disclose exactly re getting your money.
Yeah well first of all this affects ads run by so called 501 C four groups that refers to a section of the tax code.
Inside what's called the window that is to say thirty days before primary or sixty days before general election.
Whatever this this decision is likely to be appealed.
We we don't know exactly who would win but this affects a large number of groups everybody from the NAACP voter fund of the League of Conservation Voters.
Crossroads GPS they were all.
National Abortion Rights Action League league Sierra Club and a whole bunch of groups.
So what it says it within it that -- if they run ads within that sixty day window using 501 C -- money that they have to disclose all their donors now.
Whether that's gonna stand we don't know but the easiest answer is for groups to run adds up to the sixty day window using their 501 C four dollars.
And for the last sixty days to be nominated by groups that are running.
Ads using 527 money.
Planning is suggesting -- about another effort that's coming at organizations from the state level I remember a few weeks ago covering a press conference in DC were a number of groups together moveon.org SE -- U a number of other progressive groups.
-- they want -- to start to change state laws and state policies in order to come after groups that are so heavily involved in politics.
Now this talk of state treasurers who managed hunt pension funds and invest money with big hedge fund saying.
We're gonna force those funds to disclose their money so we know what they're funneling money to specific super pacs what do you make of that line of attack.
Well we've seen -- before in the 1940s and fifties a number of state attorneys general attempted to force a particular 501 C four.
Does disclose its donors their purpose was to intimidate people -- -- not giving to the -- to that organization.
The group was the NAACP which is a 501 C four has a 501 -- four and does not disclose its donors.
That effort failed in -- the Supreme Court in -- 1954 case upheld the right of organizations like that.
Not too good not to make -- blood donor for the donors and names public.
Let's be honest what this is about this is about a group of people on the left.
Who have used this vehicle -- once he -- run advertising.
And run attacks on Republicans for years.
Who now object -- Republicans Begin to duplicate their tactics and they want to intimidate people and did not give into the -- to these conservative efforts and I think it shameful I think it's a sign of their fear of democracy.
And and it's interesting that they have antecedents and antecedents are much a segregationist attorney generals trying to shut down land double ACP.
Goes to show the base and emotions in the base.
A philosophy that's behind most of this.
Aren't let's talk about the subject of the ad that that we started off with a talked about the president's hot Mike moment when he leaned over to just -- more flexibility and issues -- missile defense after he was reelected.
The vice president said we're making too much of that remark here's a bit of the -- vice president Joseph Biden.
Yes the idea that this election year.
We're going to be able to deal with an agreement with the Russians on further reducing our nuclear arsenals -- the environment -- we have in the United States congress now.
Is difficult and with the press who is doing is stating the obvious.
That it's going to be difficult we're gonna have we're not gonna have the flexibility to sit down and talk with people in this congress that are going to be able -- Listen and be able to work -- this probably between now and Election Day.
-- fair to say that the president was just stating the obvious.
Look that is just insane the president didn't say too that the Russian president look I can't get this done because we got an American election and congress is -- going to be willing to deal with this issue he said to him specifically.
Tell Wladimir did to to back off I'll have more flexibility after the election.
The president United States was basically saying I'm willing to do something for Russia that you'll like but that the American people like so don't press me between now and the election.
If the vice president was accurate that this was only stating the obvious then tell the American people now what it is that you're going to do after the election with the Russians.
Because it when you have time to work with congress tell us now what it is what kind of concessions are gonna give to the Russians who do not want this missile defense build.
This was a very dramatic moment it was a huge insight into the president.
He is not willing to tell the American people the things that he is willing to do after the election in this instance with one of our great travels in the world whose interest.
Are often at at odds with the United States and whose actions often undermine our interest.
Then that the vice president was just out to lunch on this as he was as as candidly he is most of the time.
You know this was an amazing interview yesterday I don't know if you've read the transcript this wasn't just the only.
-- moment he goes on and calls the General Motors the largest corporation the world and says it's hiring hundreds of thousands of new people.
The company has 202000.
People and it's not the largest corporation in the world.
Nobody in the press picked up after these gas one after one after one and probably the worst one was this one saying oh it's just obvious that.
We just can't get it through congress is here tell us what you try -- get through congress -- vice president.
If that's the case lot of folks have that same question Carl -- good -- thanks -- great.
