But first.

We are coming up on the spring break season and a lot of people are planning travel either for spring break -- they're looking ahead to the summertime vacation season.

As we want to give you some tips on how you can get the best deals when it comes to air fares and vacations in general until Kabul as -- travel journalist he's with travel TV news.

He's a friend of the program and it's always good to see you thanks for coming in Juneau where I've given up on work.

You've given -- I would Andersen trial I just enjoy your -- your work actually involves trying -- it doesn't feel like I'm working yet you know you mentioned spring break summer's coming up and you're about to go on to your family we're gonna take take the -- to Philadelphia next week for a few days of historical -- little historical -- yeah well we'll talk about some of those deals but you also mentioned about how to save money airfares.

There -- secrets to.

Tell me that what I was curious what what do you do when you search for an -- for where do you go how I -- I usually go to one of those web sites that.

You know sort of aggregate saw it searches that you -- your kayak or travelocity or Expedia.

Just put and the numbers put the dates and see what I guess you got it well Rick it's a very Smart trial because you know how to researcher but here there's some tips when to buy the tickets first of all.

If you're if you buy them on Tuesday afternoon around 3 PM why is that the reason that is is because most airlines they announce -- sales for the week on a Monday afternoon.

So by the time they get it into the reservation system it's Tuesday.

By the time you -- Around 3 PM the time you'll see all those things and that all the other airlines like when jetBlue makes the sale announcement everyone else kind of follows and stuff so Tuesday around 3 PM -- -- they found this kind of the best time to get the best prices.

Another thing this is particularly good for summer travel.

Don't look more than three and a half months before.

You know why is that because I would think that you know the longer than that the -- -- you buy a ticket the better the price is good yeah I thought that too but -- I read an article about this and I actually tried it once.

You if you look like a year in advance the airlines haven't really set up their prices for the following they have prices you can book -- usually three under 64 days before your trip.

The issue is they usually announce -- sales three months before.

So if you're going in June you wanna go three months before that is the earliest you really want books let's candidacy could find the best price the other thing is also go to the airline's website first -- -- go to kayak and all those and those are far yet they'll often directed directly to the airline's website but but.

If you have American Airlines mileage if you have delta.

You wanna go to -- web -- because they're gonna match whatever kayak is gonna send you to in the first place they're gonna usually beat or match expedience rights and another thing you wanna do their -- -- web sites that I find very helpful fare compare dot com.

And you have to dot com -- this felt Y -- PTA.

Two sites that will alert you when prices are about to change we're gonna go up and go down plus the -- I think I mention this last them I'll see you Courtney and I talked about this now.

Doubt that we'll send you an email.

Many airlines if you buy ticket they'll refund of the difference in price -- the price drops before you fly but you have to get that -- -- do that -- the airlines want to.

Of course.

So -- you have to tells you -- -- opponents say hey you know American Airlines and I did this once going to -- we -- -- about 500 dollars to the question who do you we'll get through -- opt out or does -- -- send you to the data is gonna send you to either the airline's website or whatever website they find the best price but particularly now.

Which is free and they don't send your bunch of junk mail we'll simulate airfare deals.

But they will alert you say -- that flight you booked the ticket price just dropped by 250 -- -- what's the business model -- for -- for these web sites with.

What what do they get out and I guess they get your email address and they can I mean you say that they don't -- you any junkie now but they must be doing so does that add an essay junking of -- you triple arts and information about how to save money issue and yet little things like that.

They're making money by advertisement they're making money also by the fact that your email list and they're gonna use that to their advantage to say to American Airlines say you're doing a sale we have six million people that we can announce -- Elton.

They also get a cut.

When they send you to American Airlines website Americans paying them -- going you to -- okay.

What's the deal with the airlines because you know that the price is that it just seemed so branded to mean never once in awhile.

Prices go up then you see the prices come down everybody follows suit.

But what what really drives that the end of the day gasoline and oil prices for the first thing I mean that we and and a lot of people are saying a lot of -- south they're saying the summer's going to be a disaster in airports is going to be through the roof.

They're not.

They're gonna be high for one reason gas prices are expensive you can imagine how much it costs to fill an airplane.

Southwest and a lot of airlines that bought gas fifteen years ago.

Can't you know -- -- an advance that that's all run out.

So gas prices are gonna drive at the other thing it's summertime they know you're gonna go in wanna take your family on a trip so they can charge more and you will pay more.

And then airlines a lot of our bankrupt lot of them are going broke so some of my favorite airlines for example I came up here and jetBlue.

I like jetBlue because -- -- greats are receiving food the FTV is its comfortable they have while she pilots.

That's not how wild and wacky I had you never know what's gonna happen and had a poor guy you know it's nice to the company standing behind him because obviously there was some you know mental illness there yet and I don't mean don't know I think don't the company for twenty years I think it was a train.

But you know you have to find your favorite and one what do you like -- you look at American Airlines some I'm not a big fan -- broke.

And the service kind of sucks and I'll get a lot of calls from American citizen legislator for the what are some of the hot.

Destinations for summer travel what you're doing we're talking about you're taking your -- affiliate and you're gonna teach -- your kids about the history of Philadelphia great -- -- to do that I have some historic vacations that take you around America many of which you don't have to fly for the first one the first city is my city which is New York.

Your -- Philly right from the from south Jersey just outside of Philadelphia is at the Philadelphia area you're adopted New York I'm a -- New -- I was I was raised here that he comes it's actually liberty Ellis Island -- -- -- on the ground zero.

You can see the history that is New York City.

And one of my favorite secrets about traveling to New York is look at travelocity.

They have vacation packages which -- New York City vacation packages you booked a hotel and the flight together who.

Save hundreds of dollars this is one of my favorite deals and it's one I've actually use.

It's to the -- Parker -- here in new York and Central Park south greatest couple blocks -- -- -- parties in great hotel they've done a whole bunch of new stuff they'll have a hamburger -- in these guys don't they weren't originally rated best -- in New York City -- -- you would never know it because this is -- -- -- -- -- hotel and look at that that's the rooftop -- Bad company and -- city hotels have a pool.

Number nevertheless they -- -- not only that they're -- there's the room right there and that's the tower view room and and you look at Central Park they also -- uncle Norman's which is rated best breakfast in New York City.

Which I'm sure is a very competitive.

Think -- yet and they also serve enormous breakfast until 3 PM.

Every hotel -- at the wake up -- down for a left.

-- -- -- -- -- until noon and then go down the afternoon until Parker meridian you mentioned this is about the restaurant this is the deal -- -- this what you do with your family to want to just taken a night in New York.

350 per night so it's a well -- -- for tonight that's crazy now listen what you get.

There's a community of junior suite sleeps four.

So an entire family could stay in your family might be a little crowd -- -- -- you those two extra twins there.

But the entire family can stay in junior suite mom gets a blow out -- there's salon downstairs which is just for blowouts which for us we're like some of guys and what.

And was well out of what my girlfriend Angela -- over there she is not as reliable and get a blog with a lot of guys -- Jay or Erica for the 350 that's all included.

Plus the kids at -- swim -- the -- unlimited upstairs through 5019 -- week.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- And just for you Fox News viewers you get some special deals -- travel TV news -- a whole bunch of there as well.
