Yeah.

For the confident that you placed in me.

-- senator I am honored to be chosen as your running.

Remember that Internet that.

-- was former then that governor a lack the governor of Alaska Sarah Palin at the announcement of her.

Candidacy for the vice presidency of the United States with John McCain.

Back there in Ohio in August of 2008 and this is power play Internet.

And for those who view -- -- in the western Christian -- we hope you.

A very good Easter.

And one of these one of the good things about Easter is that it brings us to a moment on this Internet television show.

Where to a special -- her.

The first thing is that Stephen F Hayes was a senior writer for the weekly standard it's probably been slowed down by excessive payment candy consumption.

Deal with him will be able to will be able to manage Steve case here and -- things -- it is because the campaigns are on Easter hiatus.

Campaign Carl Cameron can be right here with us in the flesh Carl welcome.

Thank you in studio and everything desperate that's a pretty big deal and had an authority city Mexico we just did it for you Internet because we thought you know you -- have something special.

OK so guys I wrote that was -- we listen to Sarah Palin there at the beginning.

Because.

It's it was an inflection point for the 2008 campaign.

And it was from American history in some ways.

But certainly whoever Mitt Romney should he go on -- now expected to win the Republican nomination.

Whomever Mitt Romney chooses as his running mate will be -- -- the term game changing moment.

In the 2012 campaign so Carl your reporting on this so let's start with you who's Mitt Romney got it.

On way too early now to our analyst is extraordinary high on an -- this -- -- question for you guys can't.

But this is the first real presidential level decision contemplation.

Consideration -- that any candidate has to make.

And -- it is the first concern is is the person capable of doing the job and everything else after that becomes political.

And it is a very long list so far I'd ask just about everybody -- didn't -- get within your show out of me -- -- -- -- guys.

If you would what do you think on the outside the length of the long list could be.

How long is the long list well.

And Steve you answer that if they if you can see through the keep case.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 2530.

I got to sixteen -- that's the reality -- the first person is really his sexual gotten into the ballpark of how long the list of considerable really it's yeah you know I -- I interviewed.

-- I don't know was a guest who we feel we get a half ago and we talked about this in very general terms of -- of course that -- I don't know I'm not even to this community consider putting together a list I'm not the nominee yet.

At the same time his campaign is saying -- -- than any we've got to move forward but but you know he says.

This is not I'm not at that point yet we'll wave we're not the -- haven't decided who's going to be running that process I'm but he said.

It's going to be a very long list that it would be a very long list for anybody so I think that you know confirms yeah.

We are now twenty weeks to the day twenty weeks to the day of the Tampa convention -- the clock is ticking.

And he does need to pick whoever's going to be as mr.

-- house who vetted John McCain.

He does need to get a committee of -- together and they do need to spend a lot of time on it so it's actually under way whether it costs so let's let's bring.

It -- for that -- that -- of the Internet understanding.

Let's break it into two categories.

And will call on the hail Mary pass this.

And then we'll call on the safe picks because basically you know this Internet if -- candidate is trailer and they tend to look for a running mate who will shake up the race and bring something to them that they didn't have.

-- that like John McCain did with Sarah Palin in 2008 bit to get the -- on board but if -- leading or feel pretty good about their chances like Barack Obama did in 2008 get over a safe pick like he did Joseph Biden.

Gaffes aside.

Was a guy who's a pretty conventional vice presidential picks so.

Let's start with the long shots -- who were some of the long -- a lot of them current and former running candidates -- I think.

Tim Pawlenty though he's worked very hard says he's not -- that's been taken off the list.

-- not so much Rick Santorum Newt Gingrich.

Rick Perry.

All those people deserve courtesy consideration but I -- will go beyond that yeah they needed I think one of the things that Romney is going to faces lingering questions about his believability with the general electorate.

Just as conservatives and are very conservatives tea parties that are have been suspicious.

Deal -- Obama campaign and Democrats will foment and manifest as much doubt in the general election as they can.

So running I think is gonna look for somebody who's got experience sticking to principle under fire.

And the kind of person who might fit that portfolio would be Rob Portman senator from Ohio who served in the Bush Administration has a budget to answer for and has defended it.

Having been involved in the Bush Administration etc.

so.

There there's a whole host of candidates like that that are out there that may not be as charismatic but serve the purpose of somebody who could do the job.

And perhaps complement some of Romney's perceived -- Right now that.

Rob Portman is the soul of the -- -- black guys these vetted he's a bit of a clone a bit of right and -- that would actually sort -- be in the in the mold that you saw with Bill Clinton and Al -- where you get.

To to.

Sides of the same point you get short and we'll -- you doubled down on the same image of the guy.

The -- looks to have some fun we got twenty weeks long -- Steve -- launch don't launch them.

Real long shots other than the ones I think I think -- covered most of -- want to see there's been talk of -- Susanna Martinez there's been talk -- -- -- who seems -- been ruled out when she's a governor in Mexico he's governor of Nevada they're both Hispanics are both up and -- they're -- they do did you send a bus and sit -- right no Martinez has been exceedingly negative in her commentary about the -- civil -- does -- -- pro choice and Romney said he will not.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Now we'll -- she's a woman she's a minority she's been out of government for a while she's obviously served in the White House secretary of state national security advisor.

She has not out -- -- know when she's been also dismissed but the kind of dismissive of that encourages further speculation.

That is the case she would be kind of pick that if Romney feels good about his support -- -- conservatives and wants to make sort of bigger picture.

Pitch to the General Electric she might be appealing she would not making a lot of national security conservatives happy -- well -- -- garner some.

Who -- the bush administrator that -- -- -- itself hawkish you do.

To the second term more conciliatory.

And she was the one who.

Pushed for a view -- and engage or Australia -- right as as it was dubbed Internet.

Why don't you do your job here I know you two were probably in the heat haze little -- still lingering around but why don't you go on the Twitter.

For -- follow me Nazis I want you should do that you already follows these days because she's pretty big deal.

But you should go on there and you should tell us.

Who you think Mitt Romney ought to pick for his running mate you can do that and then we'll tell you what you thought.

That'll probably be pretty cool we've not talked about Marco Rubio.

Well that's sort of let -- it would be you know these these these these 2010.

Tea Party superstars.

Who frankly don't seem to be making it to -- -- -- very high although they often get mentioned.

OK here we -- this was right up this this is this is our Internet this is campaign Carl fodder right here.

You were Lauren wants to know what about Kelly I who is the freshmen and senator from New Hampshire Carl what about Kelly -- -- senator.

She's very popular she's conservative initiative accommodate this moderate Republican state.

But she's not particularly Andy's.

In the combative TV hi media situations she would take a tremendous amount.

Of training and there is the role of running mate in the Romney campaign.

Which will have to have some sort of a pivotal component to it and then -- is going to be cautious to not be too vicious and his attacks on -- -- on other than policy.

He needs to have a running that you can take and throw some serious punches.

-- -- Also Carl Cameron that's fine Internet that's OK she's my former home state Senator Obama ever under no doubt that's it that's sort of thing you do they're going right -- -- OK Carl we're so glad -- get a little break from the trail and we look forward to seeing you back on the road again thanks -- okay Steve case.
