You know when you fly have you ever lost any luggage I have a it's a nightmare and -- a lot of the airlines actually do have insurance -- -- -- covered up to a certain dollar amount -- a lot of those.
Pieces of luggage -- never found you know that they go -- to somebody's hands but wherever they go that's the creepy part I've always wondered where they go.
We have a -- that's coming up now that's gonna explain to us exactly where -- lost luggage luggage goes.
Billy LeRoy and auction specialist and mark Meyer an auction specialists as well are both joining us and to talk about this.
You've got to sign up next few bits as baggage battles.
Ever wonder what happens you're lost luggage 11 of them so once you tell us.
Exactly what does happen to -- lost luggage for those that.
None of us that never see -- stuff again.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- And make sure that the information on that tape is up to date yes we do encourage and unfortunately for it when there's millions of begs the travel look the world.
Small you know point 1%.
Get lost and never find their way back to the -- And -- airports do everything in their power to reunite the bags but they can't keep the bags forever.
These bags are unmarked and they do everything that they want to return it right but when there's 101000 bags for example at Miami International Airport which is -- our first episode.
Tomorrow night at ten.
Bags a year are lost and you're sitting there in these giant warehouses.
And at this auction -- up to a thousand bags to 2000 bags that are auctioned off and we cannot look inside these bags.
We go by pure gut feeling.
Okay how I see your show is called baggage battles a premiere is Wednesday April 11 on the Travel Channel at 10 PM eastern.
And so you show us exactly what it is that goes into this.
I guess battle over baggage and you talk about the thousands of bags that that are unclaimed.
It's a treasure -- apparently ending when you go to these -- what happens all the stuff.
Well we're not allowed to look in the bags the bags are sealed.
Okay so you have to go for me myself I go with my gut feeling and the main thing that I use I always uses -- has truly.
I smell that -- different smells Baghdad I don't buy it.
Okay film for -- it's a more well calculated approach if wade and a brand in the bag that makes me interested and it.
You know I would go with that weight in the brands the brands specifically though because you know arguably the time luggage in its actual real Louis you're an annuity.
Now I'm wrong no no I'm not necessarily because we cannot no no of course -- Louis Vuitton everybody knows that but.
In order to know if it's a real Louis Vuitton -- have to open and they won't let you they want -- program.
So you have to go we've got a lot of it I'd say I only have a 35%.
A finding something great inside one of these bags -- I just throw in the garbage.
All right so what has been the most expensive bag and -- that you've come across what's the most you've paid for about.
I think 12100 dollars for -- -- I've battled without one of my -- competitors who's not here his name's Lawrence and we battled it out for this -- 12100 dollars.
And it's in the first episode of Miami and new UC.
You see what I did in the bag and I want to reveal it but it's it's it's it's great.
-- winds are I think you -- you know I disagree but I have feeling that you got ripped off into the and I.
Julie I have I have a little bit of a simpler answer for you this is four carat diamond bracelet that's one of my best way I -- so -- I remember about -- I ain't gonna cornerback and then than it.
-- had technical.
I got this -- this was in this was in a bag this is a 1965.
That was it a bag underneath a pile of dirty underwear.
Can you believe -- I mean it really was horrendous but it was wrapped in plastic and it's a great little collectibles -- German GI Joseph from the sixties.
Okay now here's the thing and and if anybody has lost to back and they're watching us in the thinking OK now I'm gonna watch baggage battles what I see -- -- on the show.
Let's not really -- I always -- I would -- Surely if -- view.
And get to Sierra and -- go to the auction block that of course the airport would give it -- -- we -- not mean buried there are not -- they're not there to create they wanna make good.
I want this program we you know a lot of people would never see this cup again though there is a possibility that this might actually be the only way to reunite people what -- lost luggage.
You're not only did the only way to reunite people with their lost luggage is to mark your bag correctly yeah.
And it's really important to him and you know you come to the counter to the baggage -- are you rushed.
You you -- -- your bag you ask for that flimsy little piece of Paper you write down your your name and address you know it's just like I've done it I've done -- I've lost my bags.
Now -- -- with a sharp be nice and -- Via the apple and I think it does so help that people don't buy black luggage -- -- when you're at the airport all you see your black suitcases and so I think that is -- -- I just think it's better to buy a more unique piece of luggage as well.
Or market or you could you know maybe put -- that you are written on it every -- by.
I totally agree with you Julie flat on back on my NLC.
There all my bags I have brig at blue streamers.
That make it almost impossible to not realize that that's your bag.
Right and you know London Heathrow which is our road London episode I how.
Half a million bags are lost a year and one well billion people go through London Heathrow.
So they all go to this auction house called -- which is the second episode.
Tomorrow night at ten.
And it's a completely different vibe in London as opposed to Miami the crowd is different.
I had some of the sudden it is much better you know where you're gonna get a great tore tomorrow night at ten when you when you turn into sales.
-- what -- cut some of the craziest stuff that you found in the back I mean.
You know the GI Joseph stuffed under Arab load of dirty underwear sounds fun but what -- but what else what else is kind of on -- previous fall previous thing I've.
The creepy -- oddest thing I've ever found.
Was adult toys.
Yeah you probably felt ripped all right Nathan up acted how much good about -- I -- -- I was.
At 125 I think -- because -- -- was kind of nice.
I was so like I was like oh my god this is going to be a long day -- and then what do you do with all the stuff -- -- the adults was I would assume those were thrown out but.
What do you like what you did you what that diamond bracelet that's and I think you can upon not are you gonna give it to a girlfriend and make her think you spent a fortune on our what are you wouldn't.
-- -- -- For me in my -- about London -- you bring it and I bracelets that's what I -- an -- -- For the premiere of the items that I find generally at these auctions will wind up in my thrift shop there you know we sell the used clothing if it's clean and it's have a good make.
And -- we -- -- as much money if we can and of course electronics and there's all kind of degrade stuff that's the kind of stuff mark.
-- through I'm looking for the home run.
So I'm gonna spend a lot of money you know going through stuff I mean I'm really looking for the home run on this I mean it is so exciting -- when I do hit it.
It's amazing I mean it really is but I have to hit it really is tedious and long.
And we deal with the general public is in the auction is up to a thousand people in that auction.
So -- they can throw your whole game plan yeah I mean they're like a wild animal I mean it's the mob they go nuts especially.
Miami did put up a poster -- -- -- And all the Cubans went crazy decked up there and -- -- -- their crazy.
I overall good tune in tomorrow night it's up premiering Wednesday April 11.
Baggage battles 10 PM eastern on the Travel Channel I for one and very interested to see.
If any of them of my -- stuff is gonna appear on the show if if if I have had a couple bags could have.
Have been lost pretty bummed out about an -- right we'll take you very much I appreciate you both coming on Billy LeRoy mark miner good luck on your show I hope it's a huge success.
