Fox Business anchor John Stossel thinks so and he lays out his argument in his new book.

No they can't why government fails but individuals succeed joining me now from New -- After mentioned mr.

Stossel who -- airs on -- and at 9 PM on Thursday.

Okay John -- on camera I read George will's column about drug legalization the other day what you probably saw he.

Not a balanced approach well it certainly hasn't worked drug interdiction.

We we haven't been able to really make -- -- to the drug trade.

But he raises the point that there's no indication that you would drive down.

Addiction if you legalize drugs in fact you probably have.

More people using cheaper drugs -- cocaine would be cheaper and not other illicit drugs would be cheaper as wealthy got more people on these drugs and maybe given how bad the economy is.

I guess you could say that's not such a bad idea people -- escape from this bad economy but it's still could be a problem.

-- I think that's a good argument for legalization but it's true I assume more people at least at first with trite things some would be hurt by it.

My main point though is that the current law doesn't stop people from using kids same marijuana is easier to get than alcohol.

And it causes all the crime.

Drug hurts drugs hurt people but the drug -- hurts more people.

A 500000 people today are incarcerated.

And they US penal system because of drug use or dot drug distribution that is in and of itself it's staggering number of people.

And why is that a good thing -- some of those people were adults who just wanted to put stuff in their own body you -- the government says.

We can make America a drug free society but I go to the title of my pockets the Obama yes we can slogan no vacated and they should stop trying to do all these things because they hurt more people than they help.

Now a lot of room -- putting them behind that mound on -- this is that it is about the props that -- with propped on it's a serious and now he was a profit that.

Now about -- I get it so when you say no they can't know they can't because they've been unsuccessful.

But what about this argument that if you depress the prices and again it depress the prices.

More people try it and then the government comes and it has also know we'll tax it back to our -- -- here will tax it.

Think what these excise taxes on it and now you just have massive tax -- -- right that adds to the problem.

Of -- -- bit the difficulty in enforcement down the road now.

Perhaps but I'm and I know advocate is.

Higher taxes more tax cutting into the government is a good thing.

But ending the crime would be such a wonderful thing we don't have wind gains and beer -- -- -- Dick crying and it's caused by this drug which is owned by the law which is such a total failure is what galls me plus.

What's your adults don't you own your own body shouldn't it be adults choice to poison -- -- if people rich.

What about kids younger people away or do you draw the line when when it went LSU -- -- on -- -- states would be free to set their own.

Majority rules as they do now could be eighteen could be 21.

But there should be laws that prevent kids from using these things just as we have for alcohol.

On alcohol had to strike summit a lot of countries that Astaro dot -- -- worse at John thank you very much.
