And limiting what they can Wear in terms of how much cleavage they can show.

How short the skirts can be how low the backs can -- and there are limiting the out cut outs in the size of the dresses.

They're being very very specific in some of the rules with some of them actually.

A taking a ruler to the dresses and if it's more than three inches above the -- You're out.

And joining us that right now to talk about all this is the executive vice president but Toby which is a kind of trend spotting up marketing firm Catherine Lorraine thank you so much for joining us this is perhaps.

So -- the the rules as we said are of very specific the idea is to just stop the completely sexy.

It's ridiculous.

The wider issue is the fact that the women feel compelled to dress this way.

In the first place and you can talk about that where does this trend coming from the and how much influence.

Do these are.

There -- sources of pop culture have on young girls great questions I can tell you first as someone that follows -- runways this is not something coming out of Paris or malign this.

In this trend where these really sexy skimpy dresses I think is is really -- -- related to the media and on these young girls are.

You know being assaulted with so many image is.

I'm super sexy dresses I think it's interesting to note though is.

He's young girls I think are getting sexy and glamorous sorted a little bit confused and I don't think these young girls are necessarily picking -- these dresses because they want to be overtly sexy I think it's really in their heads.

What they believe is sophisticated and sexy -- appropriate for a glamorous night out.

I think as parents and his people that you know worry about young girls in the -- that they're sending it it is troublesome.

Well yeah and one of the web sites that sells these -- online has some different categories of one of the categories is called.

Sexy.

And that is the category that the website says gets far and away the most -- in from girls looking for prom dresses so.

I think in some cases they really do wanna look sexy they're saying and go straight to the sexy tab right.

And that's -- the high schools are trying to crackdown on.

And what they're doing is somewhere going as far as having actual seminars where.

-- they have these slide presentations they have pictures that you see this cleavage that's too much to this this is okay.

And you want -- school girl was quoted as saying.

You it's really not that harsh.

Some of these restrictions they're not asking us to dress like nuns and it's just really be outrageously.

Low cut.

You know.

Dresses and and what not showing wait too much flash.

But what kind of reaction -- you -- to this.

Well I I think is that it from.

And -- -- retell perspective of promises significant business mean this is four billion dollar a year industry in the US and done -- to give it some context the bridal business is seventy billion set.

Significantly smaller but with -- -- about crime is that this is a business -- doubled in the past ten years so retailers are taking out but I think it would be far too simple to point the finger of blame at department stories.

You know there's a lot of other factors and certainly within in a very difficult -- economy said to her stories are really reacting to what the consumer is asking for.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- On because it's not just the -- Similar to the wedding industry it's also the transportation and the flowers and the accessories and including issues in the -- is that there were it's a really big business.

I -- getting back to this issue on why these girls are dressing in such a sexy manner.

I will tell you from a -- perspective what's interesting is what we're seeing on the runways we just saw the fall collections.

Most recently.

The -- is actually toward much more didn't you are addressing and much more covered up evening seven.

Fingers crossed that in you know maybe we'll see some of that fashion direction from the high and start to trickle down and and alleviate some of this.

And so we'll look a little less like dancing with the stars and maybe a little bit more light out of some of what we're seeing from the fashion houses and there's some -- young starlets.

-- Emma Stone is one.

Dakota Fanning.

That are dressing and a and a more -- your way and I think it looks fantastic and let's not forget Kate Middleton so hang out -- it's not all -- I care how we do have some other options for these young girls to emulate -- a.
