High school seniors got letters last weekend congratulating them on their admission to UCLA.

The problem the students are actually on the waiting list the congrats -- at the bottom of an email providing information on financial -- The school didn't intend to said the -- information in case the students are admitted.

But the email which was also sent to accepted students -- the line looking and saying once again congratulations on your admission.

The highly competitive school sent an apology that read in part.

We realize this is a particularly anxious and stressful time for students and their families.

As they try to make decisions about college admissions but the school is not admitting anyone based on this error.

The University of California has made similar mistakes in the past.

In 2009 the San Diego campus mistakenly sent admissions notices to about 28000.

Applicants who were actually rejected.

A year later UC Santa Barbara told sixty applicants they were admitted.
