And a Fox News alert right now as you might have been know from watching Fox & Friends First free -- -- world leaders once again to launch another rocket.

Any moment that's right the North Korean government says it's a peaceful mission to launch a weather satellites but nobody is by and that -- a child support.

Former Asian.

Affairs director for the National Security Council and the author of the impossible -- morning you Victor.

The warning Victor why do they need their own weather satellite can't -- just look at the weather channel.

Well you know I think get it's a good question.

I think what people forget is -- they say they're launching a weather satellite but they actually don't have a space program they don't have a civilian space program.

So it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense a trying to lots of ballistic -- if so why now.

-- it's in part to solidify that position of this new young and untested leader this 28 year old who took over after his father died last December.

And they have a big celebration this month which is the equivalent of New Year's and Christmas in July 4 wrapped into one.

Why don't we why should we need to be worried about this -- a rocket ship to this -- why should the American watching right now be concerned.

So the thing that concerns me is that.

This if they lift the satellite into orbit.

That means they have the ballistic missile technology to produce.

What a weapon that can reach American soil.

So it's it's for a military application and this is exactly what the Soviets in the Chinese did.

Decades ago when they first started a rocket program and had an immediate military application what they -- -- the satellite into -- sure and we are talking about reaching American so you're talking about parts of Alaska or at the Hawaiian Islands right.

Right or or possibly the western coast of the United States that's right what about the threat to South Korea I mean is there any sort of a threat by by launching this missile for that country.

I mean there's that immediate threat if the missiles if they make a mistake if it blows up in pieces of -- fall on the flight path when they're gonna answer.

And they're good at that right.

The broader concern is of course is of course artillery that they have pointed -- -- Victor records in the New York Times today it seems as though the American policy would be to downplay this.

And not play pull out all the stops to get Russia and China.

To put the pressure on North Korea we don't want to play that card yet.

What do you think.

I think that if they -- successful in launching the satellite is a new strategic reality for the United States it'll be the first country besides Russia and China.

They can reach the US with ICBMs and it looks like they're preparing for a third nuclear test so that is a very serious situation and I don't think.

Patience is really the right answer we'll we'll find out what they actually do.

Victor -- we -- much for joining his early on this Thursday morning live from Washington thank you sir thank you about.
