But right now the battle for women voters gets ugly very -- late.

Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen a friend of mine making remarks about and Romney and the economy and setting off a firestorm of controversy.

And even a Twitter war.

What -- -- save that sparked the uproar.

What you have is is Mitt Romney running around the country saying well you know my wife tells me that what women really care about -- economic issues and when I listen to my wife that's what I'm hearing just like his wife -- actually never worked -- day in her life.

She's she's never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing in terms of how we feed our kids.

Had we send them to school and and and they -- -- we worry about them why we worry about their future.

Today and Romney firing back.

My career choice was to be a mother and I think all of us need to know that we need to respect choices that women make.

Other women make other choices to have a career and -- Stanley which I think Hilary Rosen is actually done herself.

I respect that that's wonderful.

But you know there -- other people that have a choice.

We have to respect women and all those choices that they make I will tell you that Mitt said to me more times than you would imagine.

And your job is more important in mind.

-- he was making money and doing the things raising.

Funds and investing in helping other -- companies.

And he would come home and say and your job is more important than mine.

And now Rosen making an apology saying let's put the phone war against stay at home moms to rest once and for all.

As a mom I know that raising children is the hardest job there is as a -- that I know my words on CNN last night work poorly chosen.

In response to Mitt Romney -- -- campaign trail referring to his wife is a better person to answer questions about women than he is.

I was discussing his poor record on the plight of women's financial struggles I apologize and Romney and anyone else who was offended.

How rove is here many pounds.

More good evening Greta Harry.

Have very well but nothing's ever -- -- -- and we have this warm women that I think the Democrats -- coined that phrase first and that led democratic strategist.

Hillary Rosen a friend of mine has -- walk right into the war and so another question is set where does it go from here.

And we -- walk into the war she she she she won she winning guns blazing through a few grenades and -- five -- and women who have chosen to stay at home and be a stay at home moms and you know I thought I thought her apology such as it was was interesting.

Third for third -- and she says her words were poor choice.

Eight sentence she says she apologizes to and Romney and anyone who was offended and and -- ninth since would you left out of what you read she goes back and re insults and -- saying let's put this phony war on.

Working on stay at home moms behind us and get -- Well wait a minute you're the one who started the war on stay at home moms it wasn't a phony war -- I assume Hillary Rosen deliberately went out and said those things.

Was dismissive of Hammurabi as having never worked -- dinner -- It was interesting to me also made it sound like if your stay at home mom.

You're not worried about your kids future.

You don't have to deal yell at my in my experience it's a -- whether they're staying at home or their work and it's the moms who are the ones who are most keenly aware of what it cost to raise a family they're the ones worried about getting the shopping done and worried about.

You know making certainly kids get off to school and making sure that the bills get paid and so forth.

And they have a keen understanding of what the costs are that the ordinary American family faces whether there -- -- -- staying at home and those very dismissive hand and I thought the apology was -- was half an apology she apologized and -- And then did then witness put the night back in by declared today phony war on stay at home moms when she herself had declared it and fired the first shots -- Does that quick references Alex -- a friend of Hillary Rosen a friend of people on both sides of the -- -- sometimes it cut in these costly.

The first the war the so called foreign war on women.

I agree that was a phony war started by the Democrats and all started over the deck contraception debate.

Which the Republicans saw as a First Amendment debate and which sort of -- that in the Democratic Party some sort of -- -- as though the Republicans didn't like a women so I thought that was a phony war.

Now I will say this in defense of Hillary Rosen look I know her and that she -- her her -- her criticism where her remark.

Was about how about.

Not she was not -- should not critical of and Romney she would not -- well Greta let me.

-- let me she was not he or she when she would not just never worked it did in her life she doesn't know why these things I -- -- it was very dismissive.

I think -- the way that I read it I read the remarks is that.

Is that she adaptation been critical the fact that Enron he's been an apps they spectacular mother and she has -- raised -- -- I don't think she would have been critical he never said that.

I don't think she would have been critical and Romney if the issuer and -- -- and the challenges that she has faced because she has struggled with the physical problem I think she would have been fine with that I -- -- the way I read it.

The way I read it is that because it visit -- was not critical of Enron -- home she welcomed that choice she's a mother stuff but the idea that that -- we know she would be on the -- did she didn't know the business world.

Because she doesn't have the expansion -- his experience mother she certainly has the challenges of raising a family of keeping -- household and she certainly has had the challenge of health issues.

But I did not see that as as Greta Greta -- -- -- me.

Regret it with respect I watch the episode -- -- -- you can go to YouTube and see it.

She was enormously dismissive of and Romney as a person said she's never worked -- dinner life.

She doesn't know about these things she's you know basically called her an economic idiot said she had no realization of what the real struggles were the women -- face in their lives and it.

Families were dealing with it was a very dismissive highly personal and she never said look I respect him -- she never said.

They have what a marvelous woman who has -- bold breast cancer and is fighting their messages raised a family of five wonderful children.

She never said one word like that -- isn't negative nasty mean and unnecessary and and and this is this so called apology would all be respected.

Ms.

Rosen was not was a half apology I mean.

She was the one I repeat who started what she called a phony war on stay at home moms and she and her it was not contrite that was that was it just -- Look I think debt I think there are people in Chicago who -- who are happy.

That Hilary Rosen has said this thing and is injected this into the -- don't turn of the Saturday.

Although they've clearly about their idea -- this yet yet in a 140.

Word Twitter tweet.

Has had you know nobody has nobody is calling out there and -- -- -- -- that they've done under the bus a lot fascinated Princeton's -- yeah I'm right.

I really hate I -- -- I repeat with a tweet they should have called -- Debbie Wasserman Schultz the democratic national chairman whom they instructed to who put Rosen in as a senior advisor and say.

Publicly fire her as a senior advisor but they don't do that why.

Because one of the persons who has who -- coined the phrase war on women and used it probably more than anybody any other public figure is Debbie Wasserman Schultz chairman of the Democratic Party.

Look at the Chicago crowd is -- This out -- I'm totally agree with you on this war on women thing I'm -- -- announced that his phony.

Yeah I totally agree with that ADI a 100%.

I think that the way Hilary Rosen handled this last night the point that she was trying to get when he afford -- you -- -- -- that was it was handled very poorly it was clumsy I'm only telling you that she's not anti stay at home mothers I could tell you that he had been a bit I I know that.

-- -- -- Well look.

I agree with that but she was she was she took a cheap shot -- and Romney.

And the collateral damage was she hurt herself because when she went after and -- in the personal inoffensive manner that she did and made it look like she was attacking every stay at home mom.

I have by I I would I will I will have to what did you study.

We did you know -- to every.

I did you have the -- right.

What a reference to governor Rodney Bennett was in this is -- because I think the whole point that she's trying to stays and who he was looking for his economic advice.

Actually thought the shot was more -- Not that -- there are threes she takes three sentences and devotes three separate shots and and Robby and and look.

But -- Greta we're gonna disagree about this I understand that I think people ought to just go to YouTube.

Hilary Rosen CNN appearance and judge for themselves it was personal it was mean it was nasty and her apology.

Is is is is is half hearted and I suspect our guys in Chicago.

Sit in that headquarters who are saying -- we were Smart to get that 140 word tweet out.

And isn't it great we got our shot in and we should we were able to distance ourselves with -- and -- but I don't bother picking up the phone call Deborah wasserman Schultz and tailored it to fire -- as an advisor we we can't do that but thank goodness we handle -- way we did.

Well -- yet I will concede that it was very clumsy the way it was handled and you know be anxious every -- to see you know what the fallout as to whether -- -- a bullet for whether this is a continuing narrative throughout the campaign but that.

This war on women thing has -- has actually now come to ahead.

And and and frankly been turned on the Democrats through his through.

The ineptitude of their spokesman their special advisor to the chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

How thank you -- nice to -- that.

You -- Greta thank you yep up now.
