Turning into a fatal shootout five cops caught in the cross fire one of them.
Shot dead police chief Michael Maloney reportedly.

What really know about the shooting.
Well let's start with this -- was in Greenland in New Hampshire it's about.
An hour's drive north of Boston this was not the first time.
That police have been called to the home with 29 year old -- and -- treat.
The police arrived there last night members of a drug task force to serve a search warrant.
Among the officers was -- -- police chief Michael Maloney.
They believe some type of drug deal was taking place when the police arrived shots were fired from with in the home.
She Maloney was killed according to one report -- he was shot in the head four other officers from other departments were wounded.
A swat team then arrived on the scene including a armored vehicle those in the home barricaded themselves inside.
Authorities briefly communicated with -- tree and then things -- -- -- silent -- Negotiators at that time were attempting to make contact.

But were unsuccessful -- -- were unable to do so and therefore at approximately 2 AM the decision was made to place a robot.

And when authorities finally did end to the residents -- -- -- inside dead in the female companion.
Was also dead so what happened here was either a murder suicide or a double suicide.
But this we do know for certain at this hour.
The beloved police chief of that community was killed -- At a cheap as we mentioned was just days away from retirement what is the reaction from the town.
The police -- was just days eight days away to be precise and as you would expect the entire community there.
Is in shock this is a very small knit community they're only about 3500 people who live there.
The chief had served in that capacity for the last twelve years.
Almost everyone in town knew him one resident said this he was just the greatest guy kind hearted always visible in the community.
And again put in perspective how devastating this is there only seven of the full time officers in Greenland.
As for the other officers from other nearby departments part of this task force who were wounded.
Too we are told had gunshots treated and released to others though -- -- shot in the chest much more serious injuries they are now in intensive care.
New Hampshire's governor called what happened tragic and underscoring just how well.
Upsetting this is to the entire community there.
The local elementary school this morning is closed as the entire community begins the process of mourning and grieving -- the chief who died with eight days ago.
