Right now I'm just trying to.

Decompress here a little bit try to figure out how to put food on the table for -- -- -- -- You remember that guy Internet bat.

It is Rick Santorum -- former Pennsylvania senator and former active candidate for the presidency inside the Republican Party.

He was on the record with Greta Van Susteren and she was asking him when he was going to endorse Mitt Romney.

And he said he was just trying to feed his family and decompress didn't have time to think about it this is power like welcome back and welcome back to quarter -- who is a Republican strategist.

And knows these people knows how they think.

So you have worked with politicians who have succeeded and -- -- not -- When you do not succeed.

It is very hard sometimes to extricate yourself from your candidacy.

Santorum.

Ford got a lot of plaudits.

For making his decision to end the run before what would have certainly been a very bruising primary in a swing state.

Showed Europe will be lot of praise for Santorum in your party.

How does the road to play out for him -- -- he endorsed Romney win does the wind is the wheels -- round.

Yeah I think really right now it's up to Romney to sort of extending -- branch first to Santorum you know these things are very exhausting I don't think that people understand how hard it is.

You know when when we lost when John McCain lost speed it takes three years -- when you win the presidency takes to yourself feel like I mean I -- release.

Slept for two weeks but you know -- in Rick Santorum the usual time to decompress you deserve our respect he got much further and but he thought.

And you know it's up to Mitt Romney but after that -- come to pass Rick Santorum really needs to help Mitt Romney rally the base.

Because he's somebody who's really -- a lot of good political capital.

Right well and obviously santorum's health and campaigning for an endorsement of Romney will be very important because what Santorum can do is -- of that State's.

For social conservatives that he's going to be bird -- Romney and making sure that Romney's not drifting on these issues and abandoning their positions that he embraced.

In order to win the Republican nomination.

How much there was money.

-- -- play -- is an awful lot and you heard Santorum there telling Greta.

I'm just trying to feed my family.

Translation I've been I'm not paid for two years essentially well I've been running for president.

-- for a year and half anyway.

And his work that he did that was -- -- -- not lobbyists lobbyists.

And stuff was all on hold while he ran for president.

How quickly how how quickly could do.

Some happy landing for Rick Santorum and say the retirement of this campaign debt may get could speed up his endorsement of.

I think you could speed up.

The great deal I think he has a lot of -- it has all the candidates do when they do this -- -- you know I think to a meeting with Romney.

And Romney hoping and settle is have a way that Romney helped him want to do.

I think could come into you know -- a big ticket items for Rick Santorum sort of going along -- Mitt Romney also being the right conduits for social conservatives because one -- Mitt Romney has to do.

Besides you know win over independents is really sure the base if everybody turns out for Mitt Romney they'll be in good shape but again.

There's a lot of there's not a lot of sort of boxes -- need to be checked before.

We sort of have a happy harmony.

Happy harmonies like you and -- android in the first segment -- now.

Ron -- not going anywhere.

-- we know that perfectly well he's made no bones about it he's not running for reelection and this has -- Texas.

He is not -- dad he's got enough money to keep the campaign going so he's ahead.

But that leaves us with the former house speaker Newt Gingrich.

Who.

Is running.

But has struggled.

He's looked like he might be able to capitalize on -- -- from the race.

He -- he came right out well Santorum was still leaving the nationals that well he was leaving the stage in his press conference Gettysburg.

Gingrich is already fund raising off of it they wanted to get 121000 donors that day they got about 3500 over the next couple of days what happens for -- okay.

Which Newt Gingrich who was never going to be able to take up sort of avoid Santorum left.

By dropping out of the race he hasn't been -- -- I think it's about four million -- he says he says it's about Florida team bounced a check for the -- twelve filing fees well now I'm just saying I'm just saying he he -- 500 bucks I understand he's just into very financially unstable place and he really is not adding anything in terms of trying to win the nomination.

He's sitting there right now and it's time for him to sort of -- shore up his problems and then you know gracefully bow out the question is will.

Newt Gingrich do that so there's second place.

It is winning the nomination the next time but always.

There is something else there is for Hillary Clinton.

They're very prominent role as secretary of state.

We're George H.

W.

Bush it was the vice presidency of the United States.

The -- there are always these things.

But there isn't generally too much.

We're surplus no there isn't Rick Santorum won silver medal yeah -- Newt Gingrich is trying to figure out what is it you know his political future holds in store for him.

Well what will look let's just figure out for him to make it simpler for just let's figure out what Newt ought to do what are the right steps for -- -- Here I think the right steps for -- -- sort of to mend the fences with the party.

And with Mitt Romney and go from there and try to -- -- -- -- -- and you can't raise any money if -- not campaigning I understand he's going to be out there campaigning but you know and try to -- that he's he's trying to -- a -- he's trying to do everything -- to raise my radio network needs to let you -- do you read a list and basically -- new donors -- the holes that you can get more -- a fresh infusion of cash and right now it's not working form.

I think he spent 26000 dollars on this list and and if he doesn't even capture that back it's really a losing cause but -- only -- -- try to be fair to former house speaker has brought a lot of passion.

The campaign trail and he really put energy at the forefront -- does deserve.

Lot of respect and -- and there are certainly was a moment whatever else can be said.

Where we came to realize that Newt Gingrich taught these guys an awful lot about how to run for president had a debate how to debate and how do and how to keep your phone.

And he admitted himself and he was talking to Brit Hume last week and and in that interview.

The he appeared when he went very sharply negative and got into.

-- to arrangement syndrome basically where does that probably makes everybody runs against him totally bananas they always in the end.

He drives about the wall and Gingrich got rid of the -- Florida and it hurt him.

But -- to your point he realized that the tone and tenor that Republicans wanted to see.

Early on which was not -- each other episodes ago Obama right.

Absolutely.

And he got thrown off message in the big point came floor he absolutely went bananas.

Because he felt that Mitt Romney was just corporate -- bombing him into submission with negative advertising and he sure did any sure.

Gingrich should have known that Mitt Romney won this nomination because he had the best organization in superior resources in both these candidates.

You know taught him a lot Rick Santorum taught him about not getting off message.

It ended and Newt Gingrich really taught him about focusing on energy and debating if -- Newt Gingrich made all of the candidates who better debater.

Better -- its -- Ford is bringing he's bringing the love today -- -- Internet appreciates that we need to -- all alone won't play and that's what the Internet says that justice Leonard says the GOP needs to point out and highlight every -- and false representation in Obama's speeches and campaign -- that should be their next step and all for jury says GOP's next -- -- their platform out there and stop being beat anyone but Obama party offered very.

Very interesting idea we'll have to -- that another time four I also want to point something out for the sake of being met.

Ford is wearing socks today you -- you should know Internet and -- mom if you're out there Cortes got all these socks look good it looks like he could be walking into -- Wall Street meeting right now instead of just.

It tailgate at an Auburn game.

We appreciate you being with us today -- thank -- --
