And for more now on this and joining me right now on set that we have Adrian -- managing director of -- Pegasus strategies thank you so much for joining us think things -- -- So the general consensus is that -- North Korea's launch even though they said it was a satellite.

It is considered a clear violation.

But UN sanctions.

What should be happening now in the Security Council.

Well in in an ideal world the Security Council would -- force resolution that it RD pass there are two Security Council resolution that it passed before including with China and Russian.

I guess participation in some way not that -- and everything from luxury goods to military aid to missile and nuclear testing.

So North Korea's already violated those which means in the news with a follow up action or punishment.

The problem with the sanctions always been that China has always.

Broken some commitments and allowed on massive amount of international.

Weapons trade and also individual aid and fuel from China to North Korea to go in which frankly probably -- to pay toward this task.

So it doesn't really matter what they passed it matters that they actually enforce what they -- So I wouldn't be incredibly impressed if China comes along with some stronger than we thought language because I know this turn -- and -- -- money through its border that we never see anyway.

So well what about the US reaction and Steve the US decides to withhold food aid monetary aid if Federer does not have an impact.

It does bigger impact than even with holding things as to.

A prevent North Korea from getting access to illicit funding.

Or continue to proliferate and -- weapons you know like in the bond movies when you have like an evil genius that brings over all the bad guys in the world and -- off things -- that's exactly what they do and the reason they test these missiles very publicly is because they want a very public advertisement.

You know the bad guys to -- either that does the technology consecutive and that was that missile technology that -- with.

Small arms and and other weapons.

And they wanted to that would nuclear weapons conceivably.

So I mean that brings us to the point that now once again this much touted rocket launch this morning did fail me.

It doesn't matter in terms of whether or not they broke resolution -- but does it matter in terms of the perception now of the strength of their program.

It does internally and externally internally they've been hyping it up for a long time.

It would have been better if they kind of kept quiet and then didn't mention anyone -- in the last time until they didn't talk about it.

Another this and they had to publicly acknowledge it because they were they had invited recruit foreign journalists to go on site sent -- pictures of lunch rooms and all that.

Some so they kind of a vague on their faith and it's perfect timing from the outside perspective because this was both speaking doing.

The new leaders kind of crowning achievement he just got.

Appointed formally the head of the party this week he was -- appointed -- whose father died at the military so those are the two campaigns have full control of -- in this test was supposed to be like the justification under his leadership.

North Korea's -- to these new heights.

And it's clear under his leadership didn't really work out.

So it's obviously an embarrassment for him enough for North Korea in general before hand we had all kinds of experts saying we're gonna be studying this launch we're going to be examining all the data that comes from -- so that we can assess.

Where they are where they still need to go and how long it might take them before they are able to launch a nuclear attack obviously that's the big question we had an expert on.

Candidates saying for years so it gives them for years.

In the wake of this failure is there any change in those assessments I would say there's reason to be more optimistic in terms of how long it'll take them it's better for everybody else but even a broken clock is wrong twice today and we can just leave it up the chance at some other get a writer by the technology or bring in foreign scientists.

What's -- done plenty of times to eventually get it right these guys and made their intentions very clear they want.

They've talked about -- -- -- -- -- flame they talked about attacking the United States they've talked about.

Selling weapons and and they actually done it to other people so I don't think we should sit around and wait for them to get it right and then respond how to prevent them from getting out of the -- Yeah so we have a comment on our -- saying stop all aid to North Korea let China feed them.

Someone else is saying the UN is useless all of their -- -- Amounts to with nothing.

Is the UN -- Sometimes -- I -- -- the -- at the very large complex organization it depends of the Italian aid groups UNICEF and all that.

I think specifically when people say the UN is useless they're talking about Security Council -- the way it works you know whenever you have a veto vote by.

Countries like Russia or China they can just.

Keep things off the table entirely right you don't feel like talking about it is it's hard to have really have.

All joining me -- fill in person saying yell that we sent them a strong letter along with a hundred tons of food.

Hey I want to kind of talking on both sides of I'm out here.

Yes.

The problem with the US policy in North Korea's been inconsistency we never really fully commit to either approach and that's why we've gotten this far we kick the can down the road to the next president of the next generation and deal with and that's why after Clinton bush.

You know we we have North Korea today with nuclear weapons they didn't have a bit of 1520 years ago when they started this.

And the reason they have it is our --
