Speaking of sinking ships.

Democrats are running for lifeboats this week.

After Democrat strategist Hilary Rosen blurted out that and Romney the wife of GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.

Had never work today in her life.

Now to their credit top Obama officials such as Jim Messina the Obama campaign manager.

And strategist David Axelrod.

Immediately condemn the remarks as did the First Lady Michelle Obama.

There has been some Olympic level backstroke swimming happening.

All week from Democrats trying to put as much real estate between themselves and Hilary Rosen is possible.

She did issue -- apology of sorts.

Working moms stay at home moms they're both extremely hard jobs I know I've shared them both and I I'm sorry -- that offended.

Well the apology was a bit tepid and it revealed a clueless miss on the part of Hilary Rosen.

Now when a person begins an apology with if this market now it's not a real apology.

-- -- doesn't matter that comes from a Democrat or Republican when one says I apologize.

If I offended someone.

It's like saying I don't think -- offended anybody but I did -- some hyper sensitive person.

I guess I'm kind of sorry they couldn't take it.

And had to be -- with -- phony apology.

-- -- -- you did offend people.

And not to stand Romney.

But every person in this country who has stayed at home to raise children whether for a few years or for a lifetime.

Because you denigrated the value of what that mother was doing.

Let me help me out ms.

Rosen by staying at home and raising her five boys who are incredibly gracious courteous and polite gentleman.

She instilled in them values that made them all tax payers and none of them tax takers today.

She took on the school and made their breakfast and lunches and the rest of us didn't have to pay for their transportation and meals she nursed their wounds and got under the doctor so.

We didn't have to pay for their doctor visits.

She volunteered to help -- in school and their after school activities.

So we didn't have to pay professionals to provide tax -- subsidized after school care for them.

She made sure they got their homework study made good grades.

And we taxpayers didn't have to pay for remedial education for them.

Because she was available for them after school we didn't have to provide juvenile detention for their mischief.

-- -- we have to provide alcohol or drug rehab for them.

Because she made sure they a good nutritious meals we don't have to cover their increase health care -- from diseases rated.

Lifestyles of overeating and under exercising.

She worked.

And she worked hard.

And I'm glad we have after school programs believe me I am.

I'm I'm all for school breakfast and lunch programs for kids who don't get that at home.

I'm OK with remedial programs to help struggling kids and and absolutely for children's health initiatives to make sure that kids do get treatment for their needs.

I'm not some conservative who thinks it's bad to have those things.

I think it's just unfortunate that we need those things and we do.

But we shouldn't be critical of those who work really hard and stay at home for their kids.

When they can't.

Because they're saving us a whole lot more money then Hilary Rosen will ever pay in taxes.

I.

Welcome.

Well how do stay at home mothers really feel about Hillary reticence comments joining me is Rosie bargain.

She stays at home with her two little girls Rosie also started the blog -- -- dot com.

And Catherine Connors she was a stay at home mom to her son and daughter -- she's recently gone back to work at babble dot com.

Rosie and Katherine welcome it's great to have.

-- -- -- -- -- let me start by his -- with you you are a stay at home on when you heard these comments by Hilary Rosen.

How did you respond.

And fist one of my friends told me if I had to go on lookup and see what -- -- and then when I saw and so on CNN and I.

I didn't really understand until this woman I guess she doesn't have children how could she say this and I -- -- dead so I mean I felt like she should be.

With the line for a weekend with five young boy is and ending -- saint Helen -- is because I have two little girls some.

117 months and months and a half and that's handfuls like -- -- mention how much work in health.

And Romney must have felt when -- -- doesn't mean that's just an undermines every.

Mother basically it's such a difficult dealt with -- you working going is staying at -- And does something to be respected and meaning woman have to you know say come on have to deal with the sort of thing a law and it's not good.

Catherine.

EU have been a stay at home mom.

You've got criticized for that that you got criticized for going back in the workplace is it's kind of like -- whatever you do somebody's not gonna like it.

You get up from all sides and I think that that goes to the heart of the problem when I was a stay at home mom and I was publicly -- stay at home mom because I had my personal walker and -- -- com.

In which I wrote about being a stay at home mom and I -- criticism you know when I wrote about it because I was.

You know for a professional former political scientist I multiple degrees I left he got Ph.D.

I have a Ph.D.

out and I I left that to take care of my daughter and then mine my young son.

I recently went back to work different fields -- hung -- babble dot com.

And and now I get a from the other side to you know I I get criticism for leaving my kids and for valuing my career over my children's well being I should say.

My husband is not a stand -- parent our relationship and I think.

You know he was as offended as I was at the idea that this is -- work I mean he is you know it's been an awakening for him he's going to Michael -- mr.

mommy don't actually he -- the mr.

-- and he'll be the first to tell anybody that test stand -- parenthood is is not an easy -- -- you know you talk about some of the criticism what do people say to you when they would criticize you did they say you're wasting your education that kind of thing.

Exactly that they said that I was wasting my education that.

What good was the education and had -- work -- they've done to establish my career and that's.

It is that it really was a backward step for women if women like me did not just take their positions forward and establish careers in the forward in public life.

You know the what does that do for for women generally -- for feminists.

You know I find it remarkable that -- all in in this world we which told.

Have tolerance and -- -- -- all about diversity and choice.

You make choices your choice may be to stay at home and may -- to go to work but those are choices you make -- Canada people just respect that.

-- you talked about some of the criticism that you've had have you ever felt any sense of guilt.

Guilt and -- I should be out there.

In the workforce instead of staying home of these kids.

Yeah I think is unreal expectations the mom's and stay home my -- intent.

Also you know I have a -- job as well that was -- -- speak did and it's really typical and if you.

-- -- on the weekend you wanna babysitters to come you judge for that you know going to have anything you know any time off you have to be -- -- -- because he would not understanding not -- -- -- enough.

And doing nothing you're chasing around small children old saying you really don't have any time -- of self.

So it's of the cold especially in a world where there's going to be you know this -- billion people you have to really.

For PA children so it's not an easy Dalton -- -- you know one thing that think it has happened as a result of the Hilary -- comment and all the reaction or the first -- hot and Ronnie is handled it very beautifully and gracefully.

But it's a brought up a wonderful in an important national discussion.

And I think may be the one thing that has come from all of this is maybe we'll start talking about the fact.

That raising our children is.

Greatest job in the world.

And that if we cannot just three -- Placements and they can do a better job than I ask.

Maybe instead of us leaving them with a big sixteen trillion dollar debt.

They'll fix it they'll create the cures for cancer and diabetes and all the other things and that happens when we raise the best generation.

And we believe that it's important enough to do what ever it takes to do it right Catherine and Rosie thank you very much.
