Now that Mitt Romney has all but locked up the Republican nomination we want to discuss his strategy for the general election.

Joining us is Ed Gillespie who was just named senior advisor to the campaign and -- welcome back to FOX News Sunday thank you Chris op.

Mitt Romney comes out of the primaries and it is fair to -- badly damaged among some key voting block several polls -- -- trailing.

Like double digits among women among Hispanics among working class voters how does he turn that around.

I think by talking about his vision for the country and our future also talking about -- for the past three years we've seen did damage done by president Obama's policies.

We've seen the failed stimulus resulting unemployment above 8% for 38 straight months we've seen his obamacare bill resultant.

Rising premiums for our health insurance and -- millions of people.

Who were promised they -- keep the insurance they had lose it we have 23 million Americans now for either unemployed.

Or underemployed or so discouraged by the job market they have left an entirely.

We have gasoline double nearly double the price when he took office because of the decisions like Keystone Pipeline in -- so we'll look contrast that with president Romney's pro growth vision for a future that creates jobs and lift people out of popular up.

And there aren't specific concerns among specific voting groups and want to drill down into those let's focus first ball on women and watt.

Governor Romney has said about them racially take a look.

In addition to abortions and those are obviously very controversial.

How can Romney saying he's looking out for women on those issues that.

Well Chris anyone who saw the controversy with the komen foundation and the funding for Planned Parenthood knows that Planned Parenthood gets.

The -- -- of its money from private sector contributions and that's not gonna discontinue.

We're talking about federal funding for Planned Parenthood does well everybody on abortion they do and and people want -- give to it to that today charity for that purpose that's a noble thing to do fund federal funding of abortion is not.

A noble thing to do and so.

Planned Parenthood is not the same.

They've been giving money they've got the Hyde amendment which says -- -- but let me just got.

You've got the Hyde amendment which says there's no federal funding of abortion and the federal government has given money to planned parent -- for years.

With the money for abortion sequestered off why -- that -- office workers for years.

Money is fungible as we all know my my point -- look people can disagree with that.

But it's not fair to say that not having federal funding for Planned Parenthood is.

To the other points about the help for women.

The most important thing we can help -- do to help women and men and families in this country is Foster economic growth which is what governor Romney's program will do.

You know 858000.

Women have lost their jobs since President Obama took office 92 point 3% of the job loss in this recession or slow recovery stifle recovery.

Have fallen on women we have a high level you know.

You know that I think is true that more women have lost jobs and it's through that more women.

Are without jobs now yeah but.

It is not true that 90% it they did under Obama -- -- many many more men because they're in the jobs that the -- job sectors that people lose jobs first.

Lost jobs under President Bush so I mean it's a little bit when accounting -- all of the independent fact finders have said it's mostly for solace in the.

More men and women lost jobs before President Obama took office more women lost jobs since -- Obama took office.

The fact that that more men lost him before he took office doesn't make it a good thing that more lost since he took office that's a bad thing and we need to reverse that we have more the highest poverty rate for women.

In seventeen years so economic growth would help lift people out of poverty would help families be able to provide for themselves and for their children.

His policies by the -- when you fill up your -- a lot of women see the cost.

You know the fact -- -- for twenty -- have come back more and more than used to because of the high gasoline prices -- under his you know his energy policy wants dollars anymore you well but a lot of people don't fill their -- a lot of people put twenty dollars down -- and they have come back more frequently as a result of let's -- our energy price.

Let's turn to the Romney policies towards Hispanics and other group that the is trailing by double digits.

Romney calls the Arizona crackdown on illegals they quote model for the nation.

He would veto the DREAM Act in its current form and he says illegal should self deport.

How does he persuade Hispanics.

Is looking out for them.

Well Chris there's a supposition here that Hispanic voters are single issue voters that -- vote only on immigration they'll only vote for a candidate who is for liberalizing.

Immigration policies against them that he's sensitive to these issues of him right cheek because Americans of Hispanic descent -- also deeply about employment and job creation and opportunity.

They care about entrepreneurship.

Tend to be very -- -- -- memorial -- is okay to pick to stop somebody by the side of the road.

In Arizona and and asked for their papers when there's no way evidence that they are illegally all the federal law as it is now as I understand it says that you have to be able to demonstrate your citizenship if -- stop for violation I believe I could be wrong but -- regardless the Arizona law.

Is -- the governor Romney supports by the by the weighted towards the sport of a majority of arizonans.

The fact is when when you're talking to Hispanic voters just like when you're talking to African American voters Asian American voters women voters -- voters white voters.

People are concerned about the economy and job creation and the lack of -- under this president they're also concerned about the debt and the deficits and the fact that he President Obama promised to cut the deficit in half.

And in his time in office will propose to increase the -- by more than all of his 43 predecessors combined.

Knowing this is going to be an issue knowing any any released the -- -- months ago why couldn't he have this tax returns ready.

Why doesn't -- release all of those 23 years of tax returns to the American.

A couple things that we start with the the extension.

Like millions of Americans governor Romney -- filed for an extension to to complete his tax returns because he's waiting for other information to come in.

From other entities that he doesn't have the control of their forums as you know you have to have to comply and make sure that the forms match up he's waiting for those to come in -- He's paid -- estimated taxes and he's released -- is estimated income.

And when when the forms are completed and filed after that he'll make them public and that will be before the election this is not out of the ordinary for people get an extension.

It's also not out of the -- glory years of returns.

Attempt by the by the Obama campaign to try to distract from many of the things I've just been talking about an event here on us so and 2008.

John McCain -- the presidential nominee released two years of tax returns in 2004 John Kerry is a democratic presidential nominee.

And in 2012 governor Romney -- -- two years of tax returns he has complied with all of the disclosure laws and is going over and above the requirements in the disclosure laws for financial disclosure.

Is it true that you are taking the lead for the Romney campaign in the search for a vice presidential running mate.

And is there any thought to naming that running mate early.

Not waiting till the week before the convention to give Romney some help on the trail on campaigning and -- yes.

And I don't as far as I know it's not a record I'm not sure who is the goddess -- not been the focus -- my brief time with the Romney campaign.

As for an early nominee or early vice presidential pick.

The Romney campaigning governor Romney himself and really only emerged as what I think is now safe to say the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party.

About a week ago and so the focus had been rightly on trying to secure enough delegates to win the primary.

There is a shift now going on obviously in terms of his speech last week on an economic you know we're running out of time don't know of any.

What's the choice for voters the choice for voters as if we're gonna have a dynamic.

Pro growth economy based on free enterprise that creates jobs that lifts people out of poverty.

That provides upward mobility for someone like my father who was an immigrant -- came to this country was able to.

Become a small business owner verses in government centered society one that requires -- them.

You know meet mandates and comply with regulations and fill out forms and seek waivers and try to get your subsidies.

Where people in Washington DC you're making decisions about how people spend their money.

As opposed to free enterprise.

Religious freedom and personal freedom that is made this country great and has helped to.

Create more jobs and anything any government program we've ever seen.
