Monday marks the five year anniversary of the Virginia Tech shooting massacre thousands gathered on the school's campus.

For a vigil honoring those victims.

The pain in our hearts.

Remains only two real and we gathered to remember the 32 dear members of the Virginia Tech family.

-- -- No one -- one the names of all of those who died that tragic -- were read aloud.

A candle was -- and brought to memorial stone -- each victim's name the one name that was not read seeing he'd show.

The man who opened fire on the school killing both students and professors.

As night fell the glow of candlelight fell upon the somber crowd.

And while many of the student body of 2007 -- graduated.

This year's participants say the vigil is about showing appreciation.

For the loss of life.

I really appreciate everyone's car worked dividends -- this and all the families for staying so strong.

-- the least I can do is so these commodity and -- my gratitude and appreciation students say the tragedy that will forever live on in the school's history has united the university this is a key.

Each part in Peabody -- they're having -- really comes together you can see how much they really love.

Those school in the community I remember that they've very vividly and that was one of the days that like -- that was fun things that I I sort of had to cut.

-- the former classroom building where most of the shootings occurred is now home to the center for peace studies and violence prevention.
