We'll -- economy begins showing new signs of slowing.

The GOP predicts we are going to hear a slew of new explanations from President Obama on why it is not his fault.

That's the theme of a new ad from the RNC.

Reminding voters of the quote no excuses promised President Obama campaigned on four years ago.

Here's part of that -- Part of the reason the bad judgment declined it is because all the patient.

Understand this was not -- Portland for saying it's.

Go to bank tellers.

You go to -- -- -- she's got another it's just.

Good news hopefully.

This stuff doesn't work.

People don't feel like I've got let the country in the right direction why don't think they're better off than they were four years -- -- you'll have a the president.

Joining -- now -- Dowdell she's a democratic strategist and founder of the -- Dowdell group.

And -- Benson is a conservative radio talk show host and political editor for town hall dot com.

So already you see the Republicans ruling this out -- these suggestion is that this is a preemptive.

Strike against what they anticipate president Obama's response will be as the economy is showing some signs of slowing.

And as we head into the summer months which tend to have high gas prices and based on last summer.

Might have a slowing more sluggish economy affect if.

I think it's extraordinarily effective and based on conversations I've had with folks at the RNC and inside the Romney campaign.

I think we're probably gonna see a lot more of this sort of thing this is a president who used to his great advantage his.

Oratory in 2000 native helped get him elected grand promises.

Explanations that we see almost near perfection if he were elected president.

And I think now.

Four years later.

It's going to be very difficult for this president.

And I think for voters to reconcile his own record with the words that he used a few years ago and I think to use that against him is is a very Smart.

And today at Sarah you know they start out as you heard -- -- -- I I am not gonna make any excuses and then they take them off an earthquake in Japan and Arab Spring in the Middle East economic headwinds from Europe.

That did problems around the debt ceiling automation the ATM's globalization.

To they have a point.

All of those things are true but -- I have to tell you I find it extremely ironic.

That the RNC is calling President Obama hypocritical when their nominee is Mitt Romney.

Mitt Romney has been not every side of every issue net at almost every issue known to man this is a guy that was pro choice now he's pro life.

This is someone who supported individual mandate I think the people who live in glass Manson's shouldn't -- -- -- -- as many.

Well I'll be here all week let me.

You don't Clinton's -- -- -- but got right it is it is it a fair characterization to say that he.

But those are excuses he was making in violation of its promise not to make excuses or -- those actual realities that the president had to deal with and why -- like them.

Well of course their excuses and one that they left out of the ad because it was a revelation and in a relatively new book he also -- Fox News after 2010 -- talking to a union group B said.

It's because Fox News is calling me as a Muslim 24/7.

That we got beaten in 2010 which of course I watch this channel a lot that wasn't happening so he's making excuses the biggest -- to me.

That entire list ATMs was was a little silly.

But trying to claim that Solyndra.

Was not his program -- say that is preposterous.

It was completely is he doesn't want to own it and I think Republican of force and down it.

What have that -- I mean you know that there's a perception in the country.

And I love the saying that you winners take responsibility losers -- -- I think that's true as it is a matter of my own personal life and I I believe and that's -- Do you have to keep taking responsibility for everything when you're the president -- mean would he be what running a winning campaign if he was out they're going saying.

That's my fault and that's my spot and that's -- hot soup and I think responsibility for the twelve -- that I mean the the guy would be out you're saying see everything is is.

Well what I think the look the reality is the president has been blamed for things actually are not his -- so I don't think I think it's fair game for him the push back as it looked.

That was not that did not happen under my -- His job is to turn the economy around for better or for worse the president inherited the economy from a Republican president.

And so you can rewrite history as much as you want but bills that backs bush turned a surplus into a deficit.

And I and it was providing context let me just -- going for -- go back to Guyton is there anything.

That you think is his fault I mean in that list do you believe any of that is genuinely president Obama's fault -- -- -- -- -- it.

One in the economy certainly isn't recovering as fast as anyone would like so the president had -- he's acknowledged that -- address but I think and and -- was a debacle but there's other on he had done well.

But -- and GM.

Which is number one this GM may not relying on -- -- -- some there'd been some mistakes that it happened that happens every president but here's the thing the president was providing context Mitt Romney in the first two -- say when he was asked about.

Massachusetts being right.

The 47 in the nation for job creation his response look I inherited a mess what's wrong with Mitt Romney providing context why can't -- Obama provide context as well.

First of all that -- unemployment rate Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

Was below 5% when he left office and so I think.

If you wanna cast stones at that by all means go ahead and do it I think American morning -- and I think -- would still look at that percentage 5% -- over 8%.

Which reminds me of an article on times that was both times another -- -- -- you're right you're right and I'm I was waiting for President Bush to come up because this is now one of their new things let's come back to President Bush.

And all I have to do circle back to an interview that this president gave in 2009 he said quote.

If I haven't gotten this done meeting turning the economy around.

In three and a half years.

This is going to be a one term problems and it came out later and said it was worse than we expected there is no action was -- -- we can't get an excuse except the problem is he inherited a recession he told us.

Throughout the entire campaign this is the worst crisis since the Great Depression.

Hire me there was a -- -- as he did -- There's no then the next the next thing is high hear me all fix it and what does he done at health care plan is wildly inappropriate wildly unpopular and it.

And I wanted to come and I want that because that seems to be allied attack -- -- obviously your viewers know the health -- is going to be an issue the presidential contest at that seem to be a line of attack that they're getting ready to unleash the -- -- that he was health -- in addition to being something that's unpopular.

Was -- he took his eye off the ball same way they went after President Bush for he took his eye off the bomb in Afghanistan by going into Iraq it's gonna be.

-- President Obama took his eye off the ball on the economy by focusing on health care which was something unpopular that the American people didn't want is that effective.

Well certainly for the Republican base Health Care Reform is a rallying call whenever you talk about health -- or even rain came out today said that this may have been a mistake the Republican base and again and it was it was it was based on you know the Health Care Reform bill was based on Romney care Massachusetts so.

I did an OK okay that does that make it okay for those who don't like yeah unless -- care.

Those who don't like -- does that excuse the president taking his I have the ball they believe that's what he did it.

While I mean I think it's I think is a tough argument when you have an economy where you've had to bowl years a private sector job growth in this country to couple years.

It's hard to say that he took as I -- the economy.

Because the reality is -- -- a global economic slowdown and the US is doing far better than Europe and Europe has taken some draconian measures that the Republicans are apathetic or the -- unemployment is twice they had good is -- the private sector growth at those just made up I mean we are we not to know those guys don't know -- There has been some progress and I think Mitt Romney says of course there's been progress -- Republicans are hoping they'll be better progress the problem is this comes back exactly to the add to this entire segment was about that we played the top.

Which is the promises and the projections made by this president.

Vs actual results he said -- Let's borrow 825.

Billion dollars that we don't have and these seven things will happen.

And unfortunately for this president.

None of those things have actually happened and there -- -- the numbers.

And by the way we like the private sector job growth we hope there's more of it but we also can't forget the millions of jobs that have.

Simply disappeared with people dropping out of the labor force altogether those numbers.

Or wrapped into that unemployment monthly number the president's trying to point we believe it then continue another time now think about so much that.
