President Obama and Mitt Romney the presumptive GOP nominee.
What trading bombs as usual they -- doing the same again today let's just listen quickly to President Obama from yesterday invoking -- spirit.
Of Abraham Lincoln.
Is that president.
-- I've never believe the government can't or should try to solve every problem we've got.
I believed that the free market is the greatest force for economic progress in human history.
I -- that everybody personal responsibility for their own lives.
Airbus got to work -- nothing's ever handed to us.
But I also agree -- our first Republican president.
A guy named Abraham Lincoln.
Who -- bad.
We should be able to do together what we can't do as well.
And Mitt Romney was also on the stump yesterday as he is today with some -- woods.
About President Obama and the direction the country is headed in his Mitt Romney.
We're trusting people.
We're hopeful people but we're not done.
And we're not gonna -- on the same lines in the same person disguises in a different place.
Where we're gonna we're gonna recognize it is time.
That's given the fact that we've learn who Barack Obama is what he's capable of doing that he's over his head and he swimming in the wrong direction.
And we we are convinced it is time to get America working again.
He's in over his head and swimming in the wrong direction on -- -- both of -- guests here.
Have something to say about the -- would mean the studio.
It's folks he's contributed -- Green great to see you as always -- Things and joining us via Skype from Manchester, New Hampshire poll west got a host of the -- let's -- show on I hop radio you can -- him.
Act pole vault up all let me come to you first is Mitt Romney -- did President Obama is in over his head that's pretty harsh words.
-- is harsh words I don't think he's -- over his head when it comes to rhetoric and you're talking about the president but.
He's over his head with health carries it over his head -- the -- and -- had with the economy so yeah I'd say -- it over as head of the biggest issues and to date with with regards to what Americans actually care about.
So lie at the end of the day yes Mitt Romney is absolutely right on and I have to say.
As a conservative who watched it not John McCain last time around I -- pussy foot around this issue it's good to see Mitt Romney going after him.
-- -- First of all I'm sure you don't agree that the president is either -- over his head.
All swimming in the wrong direction but -- -- Romney Mitt Romney is coming out swinging rather than swimming.
Well he Casio.
But I think what the American people are looking for.
Our actual details about what governor Romney would do.
If he was elected president and what we've seen over the past two days is.
I think something that's going to further alienate him.
From the average American when he goes and so room of his high dollar donors.
And he gives them details and insights into what he's planning on studying and and communities he's planning on devastating.
But says he can't go public with it.
That's really I think it at crystal clear picture of -- governor Romney is and why.
I think most blue collar workers haven't really been able to connect with them why.
An overwhelming majority of Americans say that they relate more to -- Obama and that he has their best -- out for them.
Because he's not saying to his supporters are his high dollar donors.
Here are my real plans but.
This drive but on the -- and yet while he may not have been able to connect with certain people poll and he does have there's a big favorability GAAP.
Between him and President Obama.
Any actual national polls of who would you vote fall Mitt Romney is pretty much neck and neck his new one -- today quinnipiac had taken between April 11 and seventeenth.
I think we've popping up on the screen for our viewers President Obama 46% Mitt Romney of 42.
That gays to act outside of the margin and Arab it's still pretty tight.
And we all this to go to CBS New York Times poll yesterday showing him tied at 46 so.
Oven Mitt Romney is doing something right isn't even if people don't particularly love him as -- person.
That's the thing and you know what she's just come out of a bloody primary battle the president has been the president everybody -- -- he was going to be the nominee Mitt Romney it was expected but the same time he still was battling with Rick Santorum you have members of his own party throwing -- -- as well as Democrats all across the country throwing -- -- so Mitt Romney I think -- doing pretty well in somebody's really preliminary early on all -- I only see upside for Mitt Romney and the reality is that he's gonna go out there he's gonna talk about those issues like I don't know the deficit -- the -- and gas prices in the economy and stuff people care about not a war on women or -- -- race war whatever the -- the president's going to be talking about this week and he's gonna focus on that stuff those wallet pocketbook issues that people actually care about -- get away with it is poll numbers will go up.
Jim as if Mitt Romney is such a week.
Candidate for the Republicans.
Why's he pushing President Obama so close does not -- the president bombers a weak candidate for the Democrats and -- First though cause I don't think I've ever heard President Obama talk about it race war and I think it's unfortunate that so many conservatives just they throw out these bombs about President Obama and hope that some of them will stick that one I think is unacceptable.
Now polls he he changed a lot of talk they've unloaded they've -- -- -- -- -- political that was not a bad all right that was kind of finish war racial comments he said and I think he connected with.
Most Americans with his comments are under the plan -- regain -- it.
-- poll is going to show a different.
-- picked -- different picture from that moment it was saying and what matters are those twelve states that this race is really going to come down do.
And present Obama is doing very well in those states Ohio.
New Mexico he may even be in play in Arizona and and that's how politics and so.
Of course I think every one.
And then the media industry and in the political industry -- -- -- -- Have known the governor Romney was going to be the nominee this is no surprise.
So I don't think it's a surprise that these polls are this close we've known it was going to be close.
Paul at the end of the day it's a state by state.
I'm -- -- makes a very good point doesn't see that while you can look at these national averages and they're interesting to look -- and keeps going day by day.
But you know he's absolutely right does come down to battleground states and -- -- -- -- individual polls.
-- -- a majority of those battleground states the president looks to be reasonably comfortably ahead right now that's gonna be worrying to you and Republicans in general.
No absolutely not I would I would I don't -- anything.
No -- let's at least these early battleground polls are after I primary battle I mean I really.
That's that's where the focus was for the last few months has been Rick Santorum Mitt Romney back and forth.
And -- there believe me there's a lot of conservatives who have doubts about Mitt Romney there's a lot of voters who have doubts about Mitt Romney that's fine.
I think what's going to happen is they're going to learn about his policies vs the president's policies I think we we need to have a little bit of an education here and talk about issues not class war is not suing oil companies not race war is not talking about our gender wars world -- -- -- whatever let's talk about actual economics talk about how much the debt has grown since this president has become president.
And Mitt Romney will have a pretty easy time winning -- that message is out there.
