Did you know we're talking about San Onofre nuclear power plant between Los Angeles and San Diego when it comes actually.
As we hear one reactor was shut down near Philadelphia that happened at the limerick plant because of an issue there.
In every time there's any issue with any nuclear plant anywhere in the country of course it does fuel the fire for those opposed.
To nuclear energy now as for San Onofre he talked about back on January 31 the plant was shut down.
They have two reactors still working there one reactor was under routine maintenance of the other one sprung a leak basically.
Since that time there have been no power coming out of this plant whatsoever all we had a chance to talk.
With the chief nuclear officer at San Onofre about what's going on right now and here's what he had to -- We've got inspection equipment installed in in all four more steam generators were conducting testing and installing.
Repair equipment in those steam generators.
And most specifically our operators continue to safely monitor the plan.
Our security force continues to make sure that were safe and secure here.
Now once again they hope to get one or both of those back on the first part of the summer but those opposed to nuclear energy including groups that live in San Clemente for example which is nearby this power plant.
They say that this -- needs to be shut down they haven't been told.
All the proper information has been get this thing coming out of there may question whether the secure and the securities and no free is good.
I they have a lot of concerns about San Onofre and they want this thing to go away.
Which has talked with them and they say they work really told the entire truth of what happened back on January 31.
We were very close to a catastrophe.
What can happen instead attitudes leaking -- -- -- and Warren.
They can burst and they're all thousands of them side by side in this very pressurized environment.
One goes and then once -- sitting in the start cascading effect like dominoes.
Now of course -- Nuclear Regulatory Commission has to sign off before the plant comes back on line the plant says no way they're there this security concerns at the -- those opposing the plant have said.
That never could've happened that there were obviously plans in place to ensure safety and security.
-- -- -- the big question comes when the heat this summer hits California if there or any other issues.
California could be in a situation where we don't have enough power we saw what happened about twelve years ago with the rolling brownouts and that's what.
Some people are worried about may happen -- San Onofre does not come back on line.
Remember just brown -- as a pretty serious situation civil continue to watch the story out and thank you.
