-- president Obama's top campaign strategist blasting congress and leveling some charges against the GOP take a listen.

In the -- That has dragged the party to the right in your own polling and other polling you see the Republican Party.

Has really moved out of the mainstream.

Joining me now in one corner Christopher Hahn and former aide to senator Charles Schumer and a Fox News contributor and the other corner -- -- chip Saltzman.

He's former campaign manager for Huckabee for president gentlemen nice have you both with us today.

Chris Iannetta start -- the radio here when you i.'s search.

Reign of terror.

In Google you get two things to get the French revolution.

And you get David Axelrod recent comments so.

It was the right expression to use.

Well yeah I guess the Republicans want America to eat cake.

I think it's it's caught up -- I mean these guys have been holding our economy hostage at one time or another they surely have been.

Holding the president's jobs agenda hostage and they have been doing anything to move this country.

In the right direction and it's not because they don't believe it's what they should be doing.

It's because they are worried about being primary within their own party you see people like Warren hatch.

Who is it consistent conservative.

Facing a serious primary challenge in his home state you see people like Richard Lugar also facing challenges Republicans say I don't want that -- -- I'm gonna -- that extreme right wing -- I think President Obama wants to do even if it was my idea two years ago.

They're not gonna support chip is there some truth and -- Chris has to say that.

-- fish documents say not at all I think the reign of terror that backdrop -- -- talking about his the Obama administration trying to -- on the American taxpayer.

The bottom line is the House of Representatives Republicans have been charged have passed budgets -- the senate doesn't take up they haven't passed a budget over a thousand days they -- when he a jobs bill that the senate dead on arrival even the highway bill which a lot of people agree -- they passed one in the house that was actually paid for the -- won't even pick it up.

So I think the problem -- you look at the Obama's first two year with the democratic controlled congress and we got obamacare and Dodd-Frank.

And now that we have the house Republicans were trying to stop some this insanity to control spending.

It even if you're both right that really doesn't leave the voters with.

With much does net so even if they're Democrats are holding somebody hostage -- the Republicans are -- -- hostage metaphorically speaking.

Then he's really not getting anywhere in congress -- and -- what David Axelrod is responding to it was a question and about why the voters should trust the president for another term.

If he can't really compromise.

Even -- the extremes of either party so how -- you answer that voters why why should they trust the president.

Well you know.

-- Mitch McConnell said his number one goal two weeks before the president even took office his number one goal is to make sure that President Obama.

Was a one term president this in the face of one of the largest economic crisis since the Great Depression.

I think that after the president is reelected and that goal is not achieve.

McConnell have no choice but -- -- to work with him because he will again -- Patty -- he had the last three and a half years in the way he's managed the senate minority can block everything using the filibuster more than any time in the history.

Of this country.

Almost almost 100 times they have filibustered in three and a half years that's -- ridiculous amount of filibuster in the senate not the house budget that you talk about.

They are more of the same let's give tax cuts to the rich.

And let's not worry about anything that's gonna make this country move forward and help the middle class now when you said the president -- to raise taxes that's ridiculous he's lowered taxes on the middle class he's extended the bush tax cuts.

You have no evidence for that.

And it is a ridiculous talking point of the right that should not be taken seriously by anyone.

Sid chip patty how does three public -- they come into the White House corralled the GOP party and get them behind.

Surge in items where there's a budget and bring in Democrats.

Debt to help things move through congress.

Well I think you have to do that and by -- level look the president's agenda you know how many votes you got the house.

Zero not one Democrat not road problem it how many votes for the president Barack Obama's -- in the senate.

Zero the fact is that he has many more money that we can print.

We've got huge deficits it's completely -- -- control.

The house Republicans are doing the right thing -- trying to keep control of spending because we've got administration.

But has total disregard for budget total disregard -- fiscal responsibility ship.

I used to work in Washington I used to work for senator -- -- you know and you know what I know about budgets.

The president proposes a budget the house takes it up.

They market up they change it around and then they vote on what the Republicans wanna do now is say hey let's put up or down vote on this budget which no one wants to do chip could have got it up I -- Zero.

You know but I went down all right I -- -- games why we play the ridiculous Republican tactical game we're not gonna do that.

-- ever gonna leave it there reign of terror we'll see if that's -- -- that continues to use.

From either side Chris and -- nice to have you both thank you very much.
