We're now getting a better look at how hospitals will be affected by Obama -- well over half say their revenues will shrink.

And that could affect the employees and ultimately the patients.

Doctor Mark Siegel -- a member of the -- medical -- team and a professor of medicine at NYU's land go to medical center doctor good morning to you.

Good morning bell who did this study what did they conclude.

Well it's a couple of organizations called high roads in Detroit and Solomon and -- & Associates they got together.

And they looked at a 178 different hospitals and these are big hospitals bill.

And they found that the vast majority of them are saying you know our fees are gonna get -- we're not gonna make as much money as we thought we were gonna make.

And this is really surprising when you consider that the American Hospital Association.

And the federation of American hospitals the two biggest organizations in the country.

Backed Obama care they sat down at the table and they agreed to a 155 billion dollars worth of cuts thinking they were gonna make it up in volume which I never believe bill they can't make it up and volume.

Because the volume comes in but the payments get cut in OK so then how does this ultimately affect the patient.

All of this affect folks at home that's the billion dollar question in the way this affects the patients is that you have overcrowding in emergency rooms.

You have sixteen million more Medicaid patients come in the states are going to cut the hospitals when it comes to Medicaid.

Hospitals have traditionally tried to make that up with private insurance payments.

But you've got more and more regulations under obamacare now you have the accountable care organizations that are saying to hospitals you better prove you got quality of care here.

Otherwise we're not even going to pay -- -- the hospitals are gonna start closing more and more.

And only the big hospitals going to be able to stay open only of the university medical centers.

For sure are going to be able to I don't know how does this affect you as a doctor well I think -- a house affects the patient obviously affects the patient as they they have less and less places to go for care.

It affects me as a doctor.

Because I'm under more and more pressure to see more and more patience -- there's less and less facilities available.

And also it's not just hospitals reimbursements that are getting cut it's also physician.

Positions may then say I'm gonna go work for a hospital but the hospital may pay them less I've always thought that the idea of cutting fees to the people providing the services is the worst possible way.

To ensure quality of care now I did anyone see this other than you.

I think a lot of people saw others who were opponents of obamacare to Begin with but to be totally fair.

I think it's a lot worse than people envisioned really because the cost of the law has ended up being much more three times -- anybody envisioned and I think hospitals really did to some extent by the line.

That they were gonna make it up in volume -- because they said -- look.

There's so many uninsured coming in our doors if you give them a Medicaid card we're gonna at least get something for that.

But as time has gone on they see the states rebelling they see their Medicaid reimbursements are gonna get cut and they see the private insurers cutting down so as the reality hits more and more they're waking up to it so the same people that reluctantly.

Backed obamacare are now saying this is not for your respective people who -- -- All completely because it's -- top organizations one from Boston.

The other one from Detroit -- -- both of both of them are involved in health care analysis there they're top top firms and they looked at big hospitals who have from 3000 than 9000 employees thank you mark we'll see -- -- producer dark secret at a function.
