And welcome back everybody you know the community of Tuscaloosa Alabama has come a long way over the last year since that deadly tornado struck.

Fox News chief meteorologist Rick -- was there in the immediate aftermath of the storm he is in Tuscaloosa again this morning.

After the rebuilding good morning Rick.

Good morning yeah it's been 1 year this morning since we woke up and saw the images.

Of what it look like just at that point -- sector an incredible storm.

And a story that's really impacted this community and in a really big way not just Tuscaloosa so many areas around Alabama especially.

Well let's take a look back at exactly what happened with this one storm.

It was just one tornado in the most prolific outbreak in US history.

It's been a year since the vicious EF four tornado ripped through Tuscaloosa cutting nearly six mile path of destruction in less than six minutes 53 people died and more than 12100 others were injured.

We have utter destruction.

We neighborhoods that have.

Basically been removed from the math.

Fox affiliate WP RC caught the twister barreling through the city.

And the tornado's fury caught on this dramatic storm chaser video.

-- in the immediate aftermath survivors were desperately digging through piles of rubble searching for any signs of life.

Look at.

The bank is in line and got knocked up look at that time am I the amount wanted to avoid -- all levels partly it's.

-- more than 5300.

Homes were damaged or destroyed.

Some of looted from the ground -- violently tossed around.

We are in the bathroom you can hear comment it really does sound like a train like -- say it does -- your start pop band and we are all at last bust that we were fine.

Looking at a completely different place a city's landscape totally altered field.

-- -- -- -- -- No we're just broke through the heart break we learned stories of incredible survival in the community that joined together to help those in times -- need.

And -- a little lady over here that was trapped about a time I got to her.

Hoping -- it gets it.

Yes and you know -- talking about that community coming together that was certainly what we felt in the days after it immediately last year but wandering around this town now.

You're still hearing all of these stories take a look at some of the pictures a lot of different organizations -- got together to help.

Area people here who lost everything they had.

And this right here is a home that was built for Benjamin Taurus Benjamin.

Is military vet he served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

And he came back here and he ended up losing everything he had.

In this tornado a home was rebuilt for him by the united Methodist.

How he responded to all of this help he's received.

Amid a wonderful group of people from -- -- from from Florida and California are these people -- that somebody lives that to come help me.

You know lived up to Tuscaloosa in the mean and for atheist my.

Yes I tell you he had -- such gratitude he's getting back to the community he works with.

A home for autistic children.

And is doing great things in planning how he can help other homes -- built.
