-- about that people percent of those with college degrees -- under the age of 25 were jobless or under employed last year.

How does that factor into the ability of either Mitt Romney for the president's efforts to capture the youth -- this thought joining us -- to talk about it.

Alex Shriver chair of the College Republican National Committee and Ron Snyder president of the young Democrats of America welcome to you -- Thanks thanks and art of course -- both candidates that had kind -- big focus on college students of president primarily this week talking not student loans in both sides do agree.

That there needs to be an extension of cut rates for student loans but the two sides obviously do not agree on how to get that done.

Mean the house has passed something but now -- the presidents -- before it was even -- no way he's gonna be too if it gets to his dad.

-- how much are they playing politics with this particular voting segment.

Well it's it's a very serious issue of the student loan rate hike is is this critical because in July 1 the -- and 3.4 six when it presents a thousand dollars for students.

The president you know very clearly and -- -- the statement said this is a top priority for this administration.

A Mitt Romney originally endorse the the Ryan budget which called for about automatic doubling.

So then don't you know about a week ago he changes position and said that he was gonna it's in a stand for the for for the rate -- remaining where it is.

I think the difference here is that Democrats consistently -- outside of students to say we need to make sure that the money staying in their pockets in the culture remains affordable.

At this point Republicans are saying they're gonna Paper but out of -- health care fund which as you know health care for women and children.

We'd like to make sure that the corporations have a tax -- loopholes closed I think that's the difference between the two parties this.

It was all budgets -- let's talk about budgets so we've got -- senate that senate Democrats that have not passed -- -- three years as of today.

Over a thousand days the president's budget over 400 no votes in the house not a single yes.

So glad to talk about still loves the president travel on -- country this week on the taxpayer's dime to swing states he's in North Carolina Colorado.

Saying how important was to passed him on reform.

And house did pass to on reform.

And the president says we're gonna veto it.

He's not serious this issue he missed two votes on the same bill in 2007.

And that and Democrats set this up in election year issue when Republicans and -- points and we do have a plan.

We're giving an option to keep interest rates -- to keep them at 3.4 percent the president says we're gonna veto that so who's serious students at the Republican.

It's it's all about how to pay for a which is clear where this -- -- -- the -- is on this issue let's talk about jobs too because we see is numbers where.

Recent graduates talk about being underemployed or unemployed and they're having a tough time like everybody is out there and the job market.

You know right where do we go with maddening is the young people it -- -- they got to have somewhere to go to work so who alleged that -- for making sure that happens.

Of course -- what we've seen in the last in the last three years and in particular in the last year.

Unemployment in the United States is actually I'm going down and even amongst young people is gonna 3% drop in and -- and unemployment under president Barack Obama a one point nine million new jobs created in 2011.

And 25 straight months of private sector job growth.

We -- absolutely hating on the right track not just for the overall economy but also for young people and I think young people I think it's resonating.

-- a Gallup poll came out on Friday showing that Barack Obama leads Mitt Romney by 35 points which is even larger.

Then the margin with which he beat John McCain in that segment sorry pardon me -- -- young who under a -- on the age of thirty so within that segment.

People are are you know young people taking a look at the two candidates right now they're seeing a very clear distinction and they -- -- Barack Obama every day is going on fighting for them for jobs and for affordable education.

Mitt Romney's plan is either a he -- student to shop around.

And he also told a student that just -- need to borrow money from your parents that's what he told a group in Ohio just this week that's not a plan that's a cop out intern and I think young people seem to -- It's -- how does he close that gap I mean that's significant and president did sweep this group in 2008 is now running have any real shot absolutely and what this election is about jobs three quarters on people's number one issue or jobs and economy.

But unfortunate unemployment has actually gone up since the president took over after we pass a stimulus half of my generation isn't gonna get up -- -- -- -- drop tomorrow morning.

That's the highest rates as the government started keeping track in 1948.

And there are 16% -- unemployed in this country twice the national average.

Young people are sitting here three and a half years later are not better off they can't find jobs that can't pay their bills.

And the whole -- -- -- conversation stimulants it's his young people are graduating college who got a job and we can't pay their bills and we've back in with mom and dad.

And so -- -- is -- country talking to caution saying look.

We have a plan to get this economy back on track leading ground get a job pay your own bills and get out your parents' basement.

As opposed to the last three and a half years which have been incredibly detrimental young people.

Alex and -- when those exit polls come out this all take a look at C there were thinking that this group -- resonated thank you all absolutely.

-- one year ago.
