-- emerging now about bias in news reporting with the Washington Post asking whether the media have become more biased.

The Paper then answers its own question writing quote there's little to suggest that over the past few decades news reporting has become more favorable to one party.

That's not to say researchers haven't found bias in reporting they half.

But they don't agree that one side is consistent consistently favored or that this favoritism has been growing like a pernicious we.

Here to talk about -- Jim Pinkerton contributing editor and writer for the American conservative.

And Alan Combs hosted the Alan Colmes show and WWW.

Dot Alan dot com so Jim -- Washington Post took a look at media bias.

And finds that it does not exist does that surprise -- -- The fact that -- well you read the article.

Closely -- -- -- is still online and so every other game -- check and that's it says there hasn't been much of a change in thirty years.

Okay.

That notion of media bias became a big deal in the 1980s.

When and all of sudden homelessness was Ronald Reagan's home and so on.

So if you simply say that that says that Washington Post article says there hasn't been a change in media bias in thirty years -- -- of course that's true.

But as as Tim -- of news busters and others of that pointed out.

The -- the polls this study is a reporter show playing that upwards of eighty or even 90% of reporters vote.

Democratic in every presidential election go back half a century sort of say there's no change in thirty years doesn't speak to the fact that the -- hasn't been evident for at least fifty.

Had Jim what about I'm sorry Alan I'll bring you into this conversation -- what about that point 81 better show of news reporter's -- and self identify as democratic voter.

-- the issues now whether they self identifies as they use that is bias in there work -- I'm not sure that that's actually true.

If there's always this -- this liberal media bias as a Media Research Center a conservative watchdog group by the way.

Is always claiming.

How do we elect so many conservatives had -- we have so many conservatives in America how does this happen when our minds -- so brainwashed.

By the liberal media and I can point out other studies like the pew study.

Which just came out the show that Mitt Romney got twice.

As much favorable -- and Barack Obama and during the primary season.

-- -- the study that was done by fair.

Which shows that overwhelmingly 70% of guests on my Sunday morning talk shows have been conservative -- doing one on one and of itself.

Which steady it all -- -- policy a study and major study.

I'm -- I'm -- well just just because Jim and there.

May be bias in reporting on doesn't necessarily mean that voters are gonna.

Follow every.

Every suggestion.

That they read the newspaper writer is exactly Pat Buchanan wrote a book 35 years ago called conservative votes liberal victories in his whole point was as a center right country.

And yet that the liberal establishment manages -- to do things like.

You know -- -- welfare and affirmative action and global warming and stuff that nobody ever votes for.

I just sort of happens or miraculously out of some combination of judges and bureaucrats and -- and -- of the conservative movement Republican Party gets a little more effective at monitoring.

What actually happens -- the bell -- voters winning an election.

It's perfectly possible as presidents Reagan bush and bush proved that big chunks of the liberal agenda will continue.

Even if the Republican president is is a -- I don't also -- worth pointing out that Paul -- -- this.

Washington Post media reporter who wrote this article it finds essentially no no bias or no change in the bias.

In coverage points out in that article that media of I'm -- public trust in the media has hit a new low.

-- -- always says and it just like you say who likes congress who likes the government people than to say there are certain they're frustrated.

But the fact is we have more media now than ever.

We have more options we have the Internet people tend to go where they're gonna hear their own views -- because there's a comfort zone there for people.

And -- -- conservatives don't have to worry that there's a lack of places for them to go.

Talk radio cable news.

All kinds of shows and all kinds of places where you can go and you can -- find your views -- bacteria.

Does that mean that but don't -- are not necessarily reflective of the editorial page views of the Washington but I also great idling in Dallas power right river every there's a lot of conservative blogs out there is only one new your times and Washington Post and and the broadcast networks look that they -- talk about several weeks that are on this little segment here at the trade on Martin's case.

Is -- as proof of how.

The media the mainstream media can still drive -- story itself bush a prosecutor -- do they do an indictment which is not gonna knock collapse I don't think.

And and create a firestorm about this case as meanwhile.

I 250 murders or give or take occur every week in this country and the -- those murders are pretty much ignored because the media picked this one that they want -- -- you could pick up.

I'd say the conservative media -- liberal media's running with any one particular story to talk about fast and furious.

Which a conservative media runs with so ever again every time you what you -- -- -- the story that you think the liberal media.

Is wrapping his arms around I can come up with a bunch of the conservative itself you know again that could I trust the consumer people know -- between opinion and hard news and fair and balanced reporting.

And I believe the American people are Smart enough to understand that well which is why they think the media -- Haven't been lying at Pitt maybe part of the reason why he is a newspaper subscriptions.

At least in the traditional format are -- -- because of the Internet that's -- is that I think that's the -- the Internet people getting their news digital.

All right Alan Colmes Jim Pickett and thank you --
