During the bye I love the KL McAllister hi count Lutui and everybody how you doing outside -- so what surprised us topic.
Today.
But yet there's a guy USA today story and there's also one of the guardian about this issue of whether.
The war on terror is over it's almost a year now since.
-- -- -- laden was killed.
And there is a lot of the media about whether it's over not to her great credit Kimberly Dozier who -- many will remember was seriously wounded when she was swift.
CBS news tonight he deals -- -- the Middle East.
That's covering this war on terror.
Is now working for the AT and she's one of the few journalists out there was actually saying no the war isn't over and she is personal experience on this and I think.
A lot of credibility.
One of the problems for the media I mean I -- -- to have as we all do it but there's no headquarters for this.
There's no place for the telephone and if you take -- the leader than you or or you have a peace agreement like the USS Missouri in the World -- II.
-- -- -- the peace documents with the -- with the Japanese there isn't any of that and how this so called war on terror is more like a virus.
It's not about a hierarchy.
And the virus get invade -- people like the Fort Hood shooter here in the US or somebody at a remote part of Afghanistan.
So it's a very very difficult thing it's religiously driven for a lot of people much of the secular media doesn't understand the kind of just.
A religious commitment of these people.
So it's not over and I think this is going to be very very long war that will mutate into a number of different incidents.
You know I was I was actually just looking at some notes but I -- like this you saying this but yes speaking of mutating.
How has how has the war mutated you know we had al-Qaeda and we knew that there are al-Qaeda these guys running around the Taliban -- you know so -- so on and so forth.
But now it seems like it's sort of move towards the lone wolf wolf tell territory of the -- the person has inspired by these in these crazy web sites on the right.
Well you're you're right and then this is something that Osama bin Laden.
That he wanted to produce he wanted to -- produce more lone wolf people.
People who just decide on their article on -- and that's built upon themselves and and because of their hatred for America -- -- hatred for christianity or Judaism or whatever they hate.
Go kill somebody it's it's mostly religiously driven value -- you understand the theology of these people they think they're only guarantee for evidence.
Specific skill if you -- -- cross worshippers think all the Christians.
And I in the process I think this is very difficult to negotiate with happiness at the diplomat out and sit down at a table was somebody like -- Until people will give you this is if you give us that did beat the whole.
Equation is totally different.
From every other war in which we've been engaged -- a requires a different attitude and different weapons to fight it.
I'm apple I'm gonna columns Smart -- I'm the Smart tell me ask -- questions -- but -- Do you think -- the questions you're asking about negotiations.
And watch what we're sending diplomats have to do do you think the press has covered that.
No I I I -- I think that they they are ill equipped as many people are because again this is a different kind of war it's not about.
All about planes and bombs and troops on the ground we're we're in many ways -- looking at this -- his.
We're fighting the war of the past.
This isn't unique to America we're always looking at how we get the last war now we won -- lost.
The case of Vietnam.
And and I think that's a major mistake ahead and we have of course the whole political correctness idea that the media don't want to.
Paint or smear.
Or a paint with a broad brush all Muslims as terrorists and those who are terrorists use that attitude against us our desire not to be called bigots or -- -- -- -- -- -- -- these other little label they throw out there.
And they they use that and understands too though we cannot send them to the movie and among us.
And two to infiltrate and eventually dominate this has been true radical Islam throughout its history.
And while the American.
Territory is a much bigger target than any other.
They have targeted.
It's still a target and I think there is -- they've got a lot of patients their line is you -- you make the watches we have the time.
Pick.
Footnotes quest for your house.
Concern and -- -- getting into the one year anniversary of the bin Laden execution what do you make of the media is to -- coverage or or.
Characterization of Obama's sort of you know imperial blood lust to put it in in terms that they might characterize bush.
Under or or his reticence to go to the congress -- -- into the UN or -- -- to sanction.
Use of US military power.
Well the thing about being in the media is you never have to say you're sorry you never have to apologize for being law you can be wrong and you can continue -- a commentator reported doesn't matter they have no memory.
The closest we get the history these days and the -- -- -- instant -- -- I I think it's a major mistake I -- -- I think.
For somebody over the weekend I can remember it was right now saying that -- while it's great to kill these terrorists I suppose it's more important to capture them.
And two to find out what they know and to and to create these links and do.
Because it is -- it is a world wide web terror.
And I I think -- -- you don't really fully understand -- the other thing is that they don't like to report on foreign news.
They they prefer because it's costly it costs money to established bureaus it costs money to pay stringers.
And and they would rather cover you know celebrity's.
Look at all the stories of this Washington.
White house correspondents' -- over the weekend Politico had I think they'll.
-- -- -- -- -- I haven't no no I stopped a lot of those things it's it's nothing about it ego maniacal Ortiz.
This 1990.
-- -- I got to tell you it but I just -- because the people wanna go and so you have to sort of be there.
But dead Jim you and I airlines were born converse defender -- you're talking about how he feels like I'm the sort of and a -- is actually -- -- -- 2003.
We have a question from David for you ask the gentleman on the phone that would be outside the he agrees -- -- -- spot.
Agree provides a spot -- things that spot.
All of the extent on the next -- and they and that and that about Google and other in these places collecting information on people.
It you know that you can collect their emailing him habits and all -- kind of staff.
Well -- always worried when you give more power to.
A giant corporations and especially the federal government -- -- the federal government wants do.
Mandates installation of these black boxes and all automobiles made after I think what he's sixteen.
Obviously now we we won't accept any of it of course unless it's a court order and of course a crime like a murder or something like that.
It's always it's incremental business and I worry about personal information falling into the hands not only giant corporations.
But also.
Also the government I think it's a serious concern.
And I think we got to watch it because you know freedom is a it's a very.
Fragile -- -- it.
Every time we give away -- -- -- that it's impossible to get it back.
So what else can outsmarted out hello -- -- to see if there that you.
