Meanwhile the cattle for the swing states in election 2012 this year there are doesn't that -- up for grabs and there's an awful lot at stake.

Because the twelve states carry a total of 151.

Electoral votes with Florida offering the richest prize at twenty not.

Right now Mitt Romney in the swing state of New Hampshire and he's holding a rally in Portsmouth in this as he works to make inroads with key voters there.

Let's talk to Aaron -- pike national political reporter for real clear politics Aaron thanks so much for being with us.

Thank you for having me here we go with the swing states how much do they counts.

What you know and Mitt Romney.

Half still wins Florida as you pointed out that has 29 electoral but it's the most important at any of the states on the map if he doesn't when those 29 electoral votes he can not beat Obama.

-- when you look at these let's break them down you mention Florida what about Ohio.

Ohio is perhaps the second most import of this swing states but if he did not win Ohio Mitt Romney could win Pennsylvania instead.

And that it that has when he electoral votes compared Ohio's eighteenth he has to win North Carolina.

Virginia.

Florida.

Ohio and New Hampshire in ordered set to get him.

270.

Or beyond so he has certain states that he has to win.

The west will be harder for him and that's where President Obama is doing better in states like Colorado -- New Mexico.

When you look at the map and you think about Criss crossing the country trying to lock up those votes.

Does this strategy stayed the same or do any jumped out at you any states let's talk about for Mitt Romney first.

Where a particular strategy is what you need to -- the independents to lower the youth vote.

And those who really may be disenfranchised.

Democrats saying maybe we do need something different.

And you're gonna be seeing a lot of that in states like Pennsylvania.

Ohio.

Michigan some other states where we're looking at disenchanted Democrats are those Reagan Democrats.

People who voted for Obama and thought they wanted something new didn't like the bush economy.

And yet -- are not happy with how Obama has prosecuted -- -- on the economy and they think okay.

Working class.

Mitt Romney's offering a better message on the economy and -- yes we'll be seeing a lot of of that push for working class voters and it in the midwest.

-- President Obama any prediction on any of those swing states that you think he has locked up.

If you were advising governor Romney would you say put this at the bottom of our priority list.

I'm surprised to see New Mexico's still listed as a swing state a lot of Republicans I've talked to here in Washington -- and say.

New Mexico sort of off the table for us and some -- in saying Colorado -- is no longer possible.

That -- it'll still be in -- mapping and I'm sure the governor Romney will campaign there the Romney campaign sees Colorado as having some potential but a lot of other Republicans don't so.

I don't think we'll see as much activity.

In that western region and a lot of this campaign is going to be happening in East Coast with North Carolina Virginia and Florida Aaron Nick Price great to have you here what -- -- -- full swing John.
