This week we marked one years since US forces killed Osama bin Laden in that compound in a -- bad.
President Obama went to Afghanistan on the anniversary of the raid and the news media made a pretty big deal about it.
Let's talk about -- -- him as a nation what did we get out of the president's trip.
Well.
I guess you know it and you could ask that question for any trip that the president makes or for that matter -- we get out of George Bush landing you know.
A jet on an aircraft carrier I mean these are political.
Stunts for the most part I was critical of that when bush -- and I'm critical of that one Obama doesn't I think what we see though is most Republicans.
We're not critical when bush.
Did it -- and spiked the football and is set mission accomplished but now suddenly when Obama is taking credit for.
Killing of Osama -- lot not just really crosses the line has.
-- correction there as you well know there there was no mission accomplished line in his speech President Bush didn't say that -- -- the banner about the banner was hung behind him.
We are told -- Members of the the ship.
Staff of the ship.
Rich the one of the things that has really just escaped.
On notice and until now is that this agreement that the president signed.
Effectively would bar his successors from doing the same kind of bin Laden raid that that he ordered because we have now agreed.
That we will not launch any attacks on other countries.
Using our forces based in Pakistan they have -- -- doing with.
That my understanding -- is that provision does have a caveat that you can hit terrorists you can't.
You know wants a war against Pakistan from Afghan territory -- you still can hit terrorists if that's my understanding of it.
And look I'm not one of those who believes that matters of war and peace.
Our sacred and should be above politics -- some of the most important decisions that our lawmakers make.
So they're subject to the political debate and because Obama.
Thank god made the right call on -- -- bin Laden and it worked out so they should get credit for it but he has clearly stepped over the line with that ad.
Over emphasizing.
Himself and his own political interest which was a little gross taking the cheap shot at Romney they just created a -- around this trip where it seemed all about.
Politics and this trip been in this agreement with the Afghan is probably the most important thing he's talked about.
And a month and a half the residents small ball -- and ridiculous stuff.
But he he made it into a political issue Biden making it.
Playing it too clever by half.
-- -- hit his campaign raised the question -- would Mitt Romney have made the same decision to authorize the bin Laden raid first of all it's.
It's something that nobody can really answer but at the same time it it does seem like any president.
Would have ordered that that possibility given the fact that this was America's number one enemy.
Well we don't it's not really know -- ball actually we don't know that Romney would.
Do it -- that that well Bob hasn't referring to is the fact that Romney had said before that we shouldn't -- have -- American -- all the plane to go after one person that's about but they're using.
To make that claim I just think that this is unnecessary.
I do find it kind of unseemly.
It's it's taking something I don't think it's -- I think that it's fine to bring -- up in the context of the campaign.
Do you know remind people that he killed Osama bin Laden I just think that.
That this act -- a little too far.
The economy's the number one issue we know he killed it was responsible for the killing of Osama bin Laden and it's now invited these attacks on him by the by Navy SEALs.
What they think are going to be problematic for him.
Yeah I think that's right it's just you can't get any more credit they've already gotten for killing bin Laden everyone knows it hits -- you know it's in everyone's consciousness.
And here's that is right the end of the day look at foreign policy I think this is a shame because these are important questions but it's way way way down.
On the list of voters' concerns so the jobs number today we'll have much more you know this is what we've been called drag in this debate about the -- -- -- as appropriate are not the jobs number is what is much more meaningful.
To the election ultimately in much more meaningful to People's Daily lives.
In the meantime where we're learning from those bin Laden documents that have been released in just a smidgen of them have been released but one of the things we're learning is that bin Laden and his supporters didn't think much of Fox News Channel Africa.
Adam I'm gonna go to another another case you guys having the right enemies got.
-- little Fox News let her die in anger so -- Adam get -- is.
American born and educated you know of media guy I guess.
Yeah well I guess it's good to be on the wrong side of and -- and his supporters.
I'll take that but I'm sure he is secretly watching it Johnson is the most compelling news on television.
-- said they hated it but they've they they weren't watching CNN I tell you that the idea.
He was seen -- that one picture released after the raid watch and what looked to be himself on development and -- all right that's good to talk to you both just -- -- --
