President of heiress to a facility goes give it to borrow stops -- -- of Virginia and Ohio those ads in swing states where the jobless rates are dropping.
And their rich electoral votes are certainly.
Inviting.
They also haven't run by Republican governors to my candidate on it.
-- unwittingly helping the present I mean things are improving I mean.
You've heard from governor Kasich an Ohio was on this autos and well if the -- is it helps them.
Find I'm more interested in helping my residence that was your argument certainly when you were running Arkansas but.
It is a little weird.
Well these governors have got to put first and foremost making sure people in their states are going to -- paycheck.
-- welfare check every week so that's good news if it helps the president it helps him.
But I think that the bigger issue even in states like Ohio and Virginia.
Is that just because the unemployment rate is down it doesn't mean that all the people who want to be fully employed or employed.
It it simply means that.
There are some number of them that are.
But there -- a lot of people that just quit looking and that's why these numbers even the eight point one doesn't really reflect the true unemployment.
And far more objective sources than me I'm not objective I'm very partisan.
But Gallup and others are saying that the real numbers are up in the upper teens sixteen to 20%.
Right next to a lot of frustrated were you write about that -- yes and I'm curious.
Where the president is looking national and says are well this this unemployment rate is really not budging much the jobs gains are not really.
That note worthy but.
I could cobble together a strategy.
For Ohio for Florida.
-- some of these states where things are turning around.
And grab just a neck enough electoral votes to pull pull victory out.
That's how you win an election it's not all about -- the national message it is going to be decided -- a handful of states probably five or six states.
Well actually determine the outcome of the election because most of the states.
Are gonna clearly tilt one way or the other.
And the candidates are not gonna spend a lot of time in places like Texas because they don't have to.
But what is your understanding governor when you know running -- -- and it yet ultimately things are good and a state.
Do they say are we have a great governor.
Or did -- say no we have a great president brewers at parties solve the entire time -- act -- that's things went.
No it you know you always have to bear some of the responsibility whether it's real.
Are whether it's even just because somebody's got to be blamed -- and you happen to be the guy in the job.
Controversy though it's going well.
You get some credit but here's what the Republican governor can do and and this is the benefit to Mitt Romney's campaign.
Rather than give Obama credit for it when you can say -- nationally things aren't going well but in Virginia are in Ohio things are going well.
Not because of -- -- a -- because of Republican governors who have led pro growth policies.
Who it put a lid on spending who have kept taxes low and invited business back that's the counter argument that I think can be very effective -- You -- today with President Obama that's what you would do you would say well don't you find it curious that in these states would this type of environment unemployment rate going down just picking up GDP improving.
States were none of that is occurring.
Just yet and that's exactly what you do you want -- Romney doesn't do that.
Well he will by November.
Are you surprised -- the tightness in the polls.
Even with the slowing economy not really because.
You -- I think we have to remember the election is really decided by a handful of people in the middle.
People who think like I think.
You know can't believe that people would vote for another four years of Obama.
But then I go talk to people on the streets and and they're just thrilled to death because Obama's gonna give him a free house and a free car and free food and and they want to be Julia they want to be that person who from cradle to grave.
Is able to be always counting.
-- we're gonna we're gonna be going into that but do you think that the fact that so many are.
A living off the government go in more than half the people in this country don't pay no federal income tax that that could be a built in -- It's you bet it is people vote for themselves they don't vote for the bigger that I wish I could tell you oh yes they do I don't know they don't.
They vote is -- doing well they don't mind if people still staying in office if they're not doing well they'll vote against their own party.
Well put we'll put governor thank you very much rather -- and that's.
My friend here and -- doubt on about Suzanne 8 PM on Saturdays and Sundays --
