She was once named the world's most powerful woman and her dream job involves running the National Football League not the country.
But many people believe Condoleezza Rice would be a great person to be running with Romney.
This fall -- bear takes a look at what she brings to the table.
Connie Rice coming rice got it.
She's a figure completely associated with the last Republican administration.
Bush tough but given her depth of experience terrorists could -- Romney choose Condoleezza Rice as his vice presidential nominee.
-- is very interesting very skilled foreign policy.
She's very charismatic a lot of people like her she's not since a political figure which is a plus.
Also she's never been a candidate which is a minus ideally you want more of a forward looking choice in the skills -- a mix of being a good government ally.
But also somebody can make a difference in the campaign and effective way.
So I I think she's.
Interest thing but I'd be surprised if he gets to -- Not impossible but I'd be surprised.
How many ways can I say -- not me when asked if she wants to be Romney's running mate she's said no repeatedly.
Different times different way so it's enough not enough I'm happy I'm real happy to have I didn't I didn't USC did not know.
No especially not US -- yeah.
And in fact said she wouldn't want any political position.
Thank you should never go home twice writing a -- I got to -- I'm a specialist in international relations that's my vocation.
It is also my application I love.
Things international and I got to be the secretary of state of the United States of America is -- diplomat of the most powerful and I believe generous and compassionate and for his country on the face of the year and I got to do it during a very consequential time.
When the whole world within -- That's enough.
Rice has book ended her career at Stanford University as a professor -- A career she calls a superb state in life her time in Washington dominates her resume.
First as a member of the National Security Council which prepared her for later roles as the first female national security advisor.
And then another first the first female African American secretary of state.
Rice is also an accomplished pianist who has performed since she was very young.
She's known to be an avid sports fan in her free time and has joked.
That in a perfect world she'd love to be NFL commissioner.
-- was in the national security advisor role that she helped guide president George W.
Bush -- one of our nation's darkest days.
9/11 and she was a key figure in the subsequent fight against terror as an officer of government on duty that day I will never forget the sorrow and the anger that I felt.
There -- -- -- the courage and resilience of the American people.
Nor the leadership of the president that day.
Now we have an opportunity and obligation to move forward together tactics used by the George W.
Bush White House to fight terror war often criticized.
During her tenure there.
Including by then candidate Barack Obama.
Though he later supported the use of many of the same methods.
Well it looks a little different when you're in the Oval Office and you have responsibility to actually protect the American people.
And I think we're seeing that in -- this war on terror which by the way still goes on because we still have to be vigilant about.
About the terrorist and what they might do.
That many different tools that President Bush left in place.
That surveillance tools.
The ability to to get information from terrorists to prevent the next attack even.
The possibility of the pilotless drones which are being used so often over Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Those tools at the -- left in place have turned out to be essential to protecting America.
Rice's experience with overseas diplomacy -- secretary of state could be an asset in the presidential race were Romney is bound to criticize.
The Obama administration to work on foreign policy.
She's likely to appeal to women and minorities.
Prices said the growing up as a black female and racially segregated Birmingham Alabama taught her to be determined in the face of discrimination.
No one can tell me how -- people.
I know how to be black have been black all my life and again if you look at a black person you say that person has to -- in a particular way.
I don't care if you're white or your black can you say that then you've got a prejudice.
There's also no doubt that rice is a figure who could bring a sense of strength to the GOP ticket.
In 2004 and 2005.
She was ranked as -- most powerful woman in the world by Forbes magazine.
She's appeared for -- on the time list of the world's 100 most influential people.
But others say that reminding the public of the bush years and would only create problems for the GOP.
Romney wants to avoid Busch he wants to make this all about Obama he does not wanna make -- -- -- referendum on.
The bush years let's make it referendum on the -- years and Condoleezza Rice may not help help and in doing that it.
The Wall Street Journal's Bret Stephens penned a piece this week with the headline anyone but condi.
Noting that she is a tempting but -- -- -- you have to judge a person.
On the record that they have established.
In office and the record that she establish wasn't simply mediocre it was awful she was a bad national security advisor.
And a bad secretary of state and if he won -- sort of point.
To some of the greatest failures of the Bush Administration.
She had her fingerprints on many of those -- the same time you look at some of the -- the dates within the Bush Administration say the debate about whether we should search our forces in Iraq.
The hot -- part is that not in favor of the -- -- was sort of against all options so if Romney is going to pick.
Running mate should I don't think she's the one that he should be.
Looking into it would be a little bit like -- Sarah Palin choice by John McCain a few years ago it's a kind of thing.
-- hail Mary pass I think it will send a signal to people that the voters who eventually recognize.
That Mitt Romney doesn't feel confident.
About his November chances.
And so is is these are doing a desperation play -- that kind of hit.
Some analysts also say rice may not be conservative enough for the right wing of the -- on some key issues.
On a lot of soul shall issue she's just not the tea parties cup of tea if you will.
And that could be a big problem.
Going down the wire however recent polls show that rice has favorable ratings among GOP voters.
Name recognition friend and former Bush Administration colleague Karl Rove says all of her credentials.
Could add -- to a good choice for Romney.
Connie Rice is a remarkable figure she would be.
A major addition the ticket I don't have any -- how should be on the stuff I mean she's a very effective speaker.
She's very personable.
She can be a lot -- surprisingly funny.
And she's very warm.
What I would worry about -- time -- comfort level in doing that kind of thing she's good at.
But I think there's a sort of a reticence about the about the kind of you sort of practical retail politics and you have to do if you're vice presidential running -- but there's no doubt in my mind that if -- put -- -- -- -- she would she would do it doing well.
In Washington Bret -- Fox News.
