Well as America's obesity rates -- soda companies say it's time to -- the attacks on them.
From the moment you wake up your face choices.
And it's up to you to determine what's best for you.
-- -- real -- and when it comes to what you -- you have choices.
Use water or something you.
-- Seven point five ounces -- -- little Americas beverage companies are delivering to you and your family then commute.
Not so fast users it is Rebecca spreads -- says soda is there's a lot of the blame in this obesity debate.
So you don't like what they're saying here console choice people can do what they want.
Well actually -- do you like what they're saying and that they are offering more choices they are decrease in the portion sizes and this is -- -- -- consumers diet but.
Here's the reality nothing is new here you walk into any doctor's office any dentist any dietitian.
They're all gonna say the same thing cut back on sweetened beverages it's not good for your health.
Whatever.
Unsweetened averages -- -- it -- you guys relatives that as well.
You know with diet soda at least you don't have empty calories coming from sugar which is -- a link to diabetes and obesity -- has been associated but.
On you -- wanna be able to moderate diet beverages as -- wine.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- we need is water and so you know diet beverages could have artificial colors or artificial flavorings and -- You know we want to make sure -- that we mostly get water.
The other concern that I have weight especially sweetened beverages is when that comes in what else is going out.
It specially with teens the number one source of calories that teens is actually coming from -- We have -- -- very big calcium deficiency it's rampant in the US where 86% of girls and 64% of boys are calcium deficient.
And what studies show is that they're not getting the milk that they need because they're getting -- averages.
All right but you know what I say let's say all your intentions are good as they always are your decent person you want people to be -- -- -- do and that's wonderful.
But you creep into our lives like you know.
Velcro and you won't leave you know it's it's it's it's it's one thing with the soda and then.
The fatty foods at McDonald's and they better get you know -- on board and yogurt so they do that's not enough -- -- are given night you individually.
And I would go on and on to the pizza makers and who puts too much into their -- and who doesn't.
In other words you never seemed.
To be satisfied.
I hate I see your point -- -- and you know advocacy groups they're gonna.
Pick on one thing sodas in the next week they're gonna pick on something out so I do see your point is it.
It does seem to be a lot of policing going around.
Honestly one of things that I'd be concerned about about this link between soda and obesity is -- then people are saying one thing and so I can drink all this sweetened beverages I want.
That's not necessarily true mean from a health perspective and I am a nutritionist but you can be thin and develop diabetes.
Or extra I don't know enough cavaliers haven't -- a -- you know you I don't ever to serve our and you want -- -- the standard -- -- you great.
But I'm just thinking bit by bit.
We sell our nutritional so -- you.
-- know is everything we consume everything we take everything we do -- -- as saying to us you've sat fools you can't get a grip on your life.
It's up to us to do that.
You know I actually -- -- want people to be healthy and that truth is you can actually be.
You overweight or obese and still be healthy it's your habits that matter.
And I wouldn't say it you know maybe you agree with me but we spend too much time in the US talking about obesity when we should be talking about health.
What are you haven't here's coming into the schools and -- taken out machines and and you don't and it says it Marlins I -- -- that's gonna spend burgers yes but you know let's not -- yeah.
And history when -- pistols.
And they cut fact that sweetened beverages.
And you know I think they reduce it by 880 some percent accurate -- exact stat that the beverage industry did step up and they're doing it wouldn't -- relatively and Rebecca never went stove that they've done all that stuff and there's still that -- -- -- that we're.
A lot I think what we need to do is we need to look at all of the different things our food environment is one thing.
We make -- exercise let's be honest and are busy schedules are we really moving like we should be now most people don't get pretend that -- they don't get their exercise we need to look at the big picture.
You know I think with a beverage industry is doing our steps in the right direction more twice a smaller portion sizes.
On by you know I think consumers are getting the message that they ought to cut back on sweetened drinks Rebecca thank you Rebecca -- still in -- again.
