Well the economy center stage in the battle for the White House from the auto industry bailout to the unemployment rate across the country.

With both President Obama and governor Romney taking credit for what's gone right.

And blaming the other guy for what's gone wrong.

You know that by virtue of looking at the results.

There -- are these the same issues that we're going to be hearing over and over again until Election Day it seems like both men are blaming each other.

For the state of this economy in president Obama's case he's blaming Republicans generally and saying.

The economy was so bad when he came in from the Bush Administration but he couldn't possibly get it mattered until now Chris to you for.

Well I mean this it -- do this this election's going to be that the economy is the fundamental issue that's can define.

You know this these two candidates in and what the positions they take.

I think that the problem that the Romney campaign has -- you've seen it with his kind of convoluted new position on the auto bailouts is no one really knows what -- governor Romney would do is president other than basically repeat the mistakes of the past.

And that's not gonna be a real powerful vision.

Or in -- tracks and independent so I think Romney's got a problem in terms of selling.

You know eight in new vision because he doesn't seem to have it.

Well but our I guess.

He does have a record as a fixer I mean he did that with the Olympic Games.

Well I mean I'm not sure the Olympic Games qualified you to be -- the president I states and and I think that's the challenge that I think the -- campaign has.

Is they've got a -- to discredit what the president is done the president inherited a mess we all know that.

If -- difficult.

You know few years but if you look at terms of where we started where we are.

That gives the president I think a good strong argument more needs to be done.

The challenge I think for Romney is to kind of question that and you have to do that not -- -- questioner criticizing what the other side did.

Do you have to offer an alternative and seeing how the.

And Romney needs to -- the American people that he can fix the economy.

I also agree with what Chris said above vision I do think you know without a vision of people parish and Romney does need to lay out a vision.

It's not good enough to just criticize you decide -- goes for Obama to -- what to have in the end is it is -- with the with either candidate.

If you end up -- no political capital when you have no political capital it's impossible to govern this was a case in this in the second term of George W bush.

With do with John Kerry you have.

Both both men had assembled people hated the other guy more the other guy that doesn't leave you with a mandate.

To govern is very difficult I think.

One of these candidates would really break out I hope it's it's Mitt Romney.

That if you laid out a vision something positive that the American people can understand.

Why your vision leads to better job creation lower gas prices and I do think energy is is central to that energy is such a fascinating topic because.

In -- -- economy jobs it also involves national security patriotism self sufficiency.

And is related to national security and foreign policy as -- -- -- and talk about.

Energy all day long and we do not have today a national -- -- strategy and Chris he says -- candidates should stay positive we've been told to expect the most negative campaign in history.

This is going to be the most negative campaign history it is going to be brutal fight to the gutter I mean that just that the unfortunate reality.

But I don't think that that that's necessarily a Smart strategy.

Mean if you look at where I think the electorate is electorate is angry and frustrated with Paul fixed with all politicians both Republicans and Democrats.

And I think if these two campaigns.

Focus simply on the negative and that is kind of the tendency in our business to do that.

I think it's kind of gonna both cut off the nose to spite their face I do think there is a -- here not you know completely for -- -- negative because you have to do that some extent.

But kind of lay out a positive vision now and I'm not sure Romney has done that until he does I'm not revealed exploit whatever the critical advantage yet I haven't heard a lot of positives.
