Meanwhile in the wake of that austerity revolted -- -- agrees a growing number of US lawmakers are saying this is no time for austerity here.

They're pushing for more spending citing the fragile economy that needs it.

Republican senator Rand Paul says -- the economy does not need in fact that it's gonna make things worse senator good to have you.

It -- in him what do you make of that argument that Los parity didn't cut it so cut the austerity.

You know you've got people like Paul Krugman who still think lord -- knew what he was talking about -- many of us don't think it's a good idea.

So for government -- -- blogger very accident near times economic album that's -- Krugman Garnett.

Yet why he seemed to thing deficits don't matter and that we -- -- pile on more deficits in the middle over session.

And he thinks the worst thing we could do is actually to be austere were cut spending.

-- to realize that austerity in Washington means cutting the rate of growth of spending.

Nobody around -- other than myself and a few people would actually cut real spending which is what we audited.

But do you think that -- concern or that some of your colleagues are concerned.

The voters have swung the other way using France is an example -- Greece is an example not that they're necessarily.

Indicative -- -- mode that.

They've had it would even cutting the growth and entitlements.

-- big big.

Had it went out and they and they don't want about background.

Now I think and Kentucky anyway I haven't seen the French elections influencing our -- do much.

But I would say that we haven't even begun to do any of austerity or change anything.

But when you poll the public can you ask them would you be willing to let the age of Social Security -- Or means tested benefits it's over fifty -- of the people know we're gonna have to do something like that in order to save social security and save Medicare.

So why -- so few of your colleagues do that I mean I did you credit you go out and Lyndon.

And proposed and -- want -- dollars in spending cuts and -- and dramatic cuts of that.

But a lot of your colleagues gonna leave you bottom line.

But it's kind of funny here because I think they misunderstand the public for example we spent thirty billion dollars a year -- -- -- the world if you asked the public.

75 to the public thinks we need to start paying attention to our country and less attention giving welfare overseas.

But when I bring up a vote to cut any of them met anywhere any -- wave.

80% of the legislators vote against me so I think they misinterpret the public.

But they're also missing out on the vote because I'm gonna keep hammer him on this that we can't send two billion dollars a year to Egypt a country that holds our citizens.

In detention and asked prosecute them and asked for international warrants.

I don't think that the American public -- in favor of that so we'll keep fighting this fight but I think eventually congress will change to reflect what the people really want.

Foreign aid -- do you want to come just when it when it comes to entitlement programs Medicare Social Security senator.

That Americans are fine in the aggregate saying yeah you should rein in the growth of duties to -- better not touch mine.

When you make of.

Well you know it depends I asked the people if you ask people do you want your Medicare to -- got 80% of people say no.

But if you ask those on Medicare.

Or those approaching Medicare do you think we need to do something to say the system and if that meant letting the age rise gradually would you allow that.

I think most senior citizens actually woods and actually most of the reforms are on the next way they're on -- -- -- deal they're not on the current retirees.

So I think people are willing to accept that most young people you talk -- -- -- they don't think Social Security will even be there for them so they're more than willing to accept some of these changes.

What do you mean there on the and you know -- but I -- Could I ask you about your -- if you don't -- -- -- he he -- the very last sole survivor in the race he's not -- Mom he's indicated that -- That he's not really that all that keen on on a president Romney.

He's had knowledge that the numbers favor him getting the nomination but is there some bad blood there what's going on.

Now I don't think so I think my dad is who he's always been and he has not changed and that's to his credit I think that's -- people see him as genuine and authentic.

I don't know what he will do as far as endorsement guys I know that he wants to grow the Republican Party -- that Republicans need to understand that.

He's the only one out there on the trail it's getting 8000 students to show up in a place like Berkeley.

UC Davis University of Pittsburgh.

Champaign Illinois.

Thousands of people are showing up like to see a guy -- here a guy who isn't going to win the nomination.

It's it is right now another nomination Gary Johnson the former Mexico governor about the libertarian non.

We'll talk was that they were originally wanted your father and he concluded is that true.

Yeah I don't know this particulars of that but I do know what he's said over and over again -- city doesn't intend to run as a third party and it's very difficult in this country to get attention he's gotten a lot of attention.

Working through the two party system.

And he's got a lot of people involved and the chairman of Iowa now was Ron Paul's campaign chairman Cameron Nevada was the wrong -- campaign person.

We've won several states that are influencing the party and becoming.

The Republican Party so I think that's where are you -- -- why he waited and when -- won several that you didn't win an east.

Well interesting he just won the delegation in Maine they I think controlled the -- chairmanship and -- mistake chairmanship and Iowa State chairman of the Nevada.

Some of these people obligated to vote on the first time for -- Romney some of them are not.

So I'm not sure how many states he actually win that he will win several states' interest.

All right senator good -- and thank you very much.

-- stadium thought this.
