Welcome back America's job crisis sure to be a key issue of the campaign trail because the labor -- brand new numbers show that while the unemployment rate dropped to eight point 1% only 1151000.

New jobs were created.

Twelve below the heating -- -- population growth here's what the president had to say about these fine.

We're gonna recover all the jobs -- were lost during the recession.

And if we're gonna build a secure economy.

That strengthens the middle class -- -- have to do more my message to congress is going to be just saying no.

To ideas that will create new jobs is not an option.

There's too much at stake for us not to all be -- in the same direction.

Joining salad Republican reaction former presidential candidate and Mitt Romney supporter governor Tim Pawlenty joins us this morning with his reaction governor nice to see this morning.

Good morning Clayton good to be with you thanks for joining us in the president's commentary yesterday in Virginia trying to put a positive spin on this jobs number.

He was by all accounts -- a positive jobs report although the president painting eight point 2% down eight point 1%.

And 1151000.

Private sector jobs your response to the president's message yesterday.

Well his message should be that he failed and he shouldn't it be deserving of reelection in fact he's a deserving of -- continuing in the job at this point he said when he came into office.

That he was gonna restore those jobs he said and -- on your clip.

Eight point 1% unemployment is an awful number.

That slight down tick from eight point two to eight point one Clayton is because a bunch of people left the workforce there was about a 1151000.

Jobs added.

But 340000.

People adults left the workforce the percent of adults who are not working.

Or who are -- -- have given up looking for work is -- an all time high so another words the percent of people who are in the workforce are actively looking for work is at a thirty year low.

And that number that he's touting only went down a little because so many people gave up he shouldn't be proud of that he.

Should be ashamed of that.

You're Mitt Romney supporter and something that Mitt Romney over reached yesterday some of his comments about the jobs number -- the other side -- hurting themselves just stand back and not -- much although.

It Romney yesterday said it.

-- we shouldn't be celebrating what we we should get that number down to 4% and he -- creating 500000.

Jobs a month but we even when he was governor of Massachusetts only down to four point 7%.

And some saying it's really an impossible task to do that the governor overreach in his commentary yesterday.

No I don't think so I read his comments that he said that we shouldn't be celebrating anything over 4% so obviously anything over 4% there's a lot of work to -- in fact before percent still means a lot of people are out of work but.

He was saying we should be doing victory laps we shouldn't be -- people on the backer.

Bragging about the progress that's been made when you have anything in over 4% because too many people are still a lot of work.

-- as you know I've got a blue collar background came from a a modest background I know I've seen firsthand the number one pathway for whether people are gonna have a quality of life experience and opportunity right is whether they have a job and on that measure.

Barack Obama has failed and a lot of other stuff as well.

-- also gone on the record said repeatedly that your not considering the number two spot the vice presidency although we've heard from governor Chris Christie recently who said that he could be persuaded.

If governor Romney came to him and tried to persuade him we've heard names thrown about of course Marco Rubio but your name keeps making -- -- list.

Could governor Romney persuade you to take that second spot.

-- I'm trying to encourage people to take me off the list -- -- I got was down that road before with John McCain and -- was honored to be considered I think I can help -- in other ways you can have a lot of great people to consider.

No Rob Portman Chris Christie Marco Rubio Brian sand of all Bobby -- -- Bob McDonnell.

Nikki Haley via many many others -- just a partial example so yeah you know I can help -- and a lot of other ways.

Governor Tim Pawlenty great to see this morning thanks for joining us.

You're welcome.
